Tax Day Tea Parties and the Republican Party Establishment

Well, not so much.
- Mitt Romney, a top contender for the 2012 nomination who has been cautious in his criticism of President Obama, will not attend a tea party, said his spokesman.
- John Boehner, the House minority leader, will attend a tea party in Bakersfield, Calif., with Rep. Kevin McCarthy.
- Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader, is on official business overseas and won’t be participating.
- Eric Cantor, the House minority whip, is in his Virginia congressional district with no public events today, said a spokesman.
- Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, who will likely consider a 2012 run, is out of town and not participating, according to a spokesperson.
- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, last year’s GOP VP nominee and a potential 2012 contender, won’t be attending any tea parties “that I’m aware of,” said a spokesperson.
The Tea Party movement is not about the GOP, in any case. But, the GOP better get the message.

I was planning to attend one up until last week until I started hearing things about them that I don’t like. Now I’m glad I did not. On The Pink Flamingo last night I posted information about the infiltration of the tea parties by the CofCC, Stormfront, and their adorable little friends. They are planning a major presence in Phoenix, from what I’ve read.
I think any thinking Republican wants to stay as far away from this as possible.
The whole premise is a great idea, but when Alan Keyes is invited to be a special guest speaker in DC, and Michael Steele is treated like dirt – I think that should put it into perspective.

I just returned from the noon Ventura County, California Tea Party and there were hundreds of folks, including GOP activists and candidates, families and children.
All were well mannered and respectful.
No, this is a legit grassroots movement and the politicians better listen up.

My RNC friend just called. Something like 3000 people attended here in Ruidoso. My question – where were those people when I was trying to get local Republicans to call our local Congressman, Harry Teague to complain about the Stimulus bill? I know good and well they were not calling our elected officials. If those 3000 people had called Teague, and our two fawning Democratic Senators I know it would have made an impact.
Just call me a jaded cynic.

We keep hearing about how many people took out loans for homes they couldn’t afford. What about the MAJORITY of Americans who did NOT buy a home they couldn’t afford, who lived within their means and paid their house note on time, month after month, year after year? It seems our penalty for being financially responsible, once again, is to pick up the tab for everyone who isn’t. This time it’s home loans, but add that to all the medicaid-financed babies being born at our expense, all the food stamps we’re paying for and all the education and language accomodations for illegal aliens we’re forking over our cash to finance and it’s a wonder there’s any money left to live on.
