Rudy Giuliani Watch: Video – Rudy on Iraq War Non-Binding Congressional Resolutions
Mayor Giuliani was on tonight’s Larry King show where he discussed Congressional Non-binding Iraq War Resolutions.
However, this was not the first time, Hizzoner discussed the issue. The above video was taken by Flap last Saturday at the California Republican Party Convention in Sacramento.
Here is tonight’s interview by Larry King on CNN:
The Transcript:
GIULIANI: I mean, you can look at the practical and common sense conclusion on that anyway you want. But there’s something more important than that. We have a right of free speech in this country and we elect people to make decisions. Here’s what I would prefer to see them do, though, if you ask me what’s my view on that. The nonbinding resolution thing gets me more than are you for it or against it. I have tremendous respect for the people who feel that we either made a mistake going to war, who voted against the war, who now have come to the conclusion, changed their minds, they have every right to that, that it’s wrong, you should, in a dynamic situation, keep questioning. What I don’t like is the idea of a nonbinding resolution.
KING: Because?
GIULIANI: Because there’s no decision.
KING: But it’s a statement.
GIULIANI: Yes, but that’s what you do. That’s what Tim Russert does and that’s what Rush Limbaugh does. That’s what you guys do, you make comments. We pay them to make decisions, not just to make comments. We pay them to decide. The United States Congress does declarations, the war…
KING: So if you feel that way, withhold funds and that’s the way you feel?
GIULIANI: The ones I think have a better understanding of what their responsibility is and are willing to take a risk are the ones who are saying we’ve got to hold back the funds, we’ve got to vote against the war or we’re for the war. And maybe it’s because I ran a government and I tend to be a decisive person. I like decisions. And I think one of the things wrong with Washington is they don’t want to make tough decisions anymore. Nonbinding resolution about Iraq, no decision on immigration, no decision on Social Security reform, no decision on what to do about energy independence, no decision. You know why that happens? Because it’s unpopular.
*******Consistent, No?
Rudy a man of action or useless resolutions?
Well, you know the answer…….

Rudy Giuliani Watch: Vulnerabilities Part 2
A couple of days ago, Flap mentioned this piece in The Smoking Gun.
Now, Captain Ed talks about the issues addressed as vulnerabilities and raises the question of an inside sabotage job.
Some of this material is pretty tawdry, though, and it will cause Giuliani some discomfort over the next year, and longer if he wins the nomination. Most of the damage comes from the evaluation of his personal life, which contains data not widely known outside of New York City. Giuliani’s divorces have been discussed among conservatives as a potential issue for family-values voters, but the issue of his attempt to annul one of the marriages on the basis of consanguinuity — and hence the “weirdness factor” — will be an unpleasant underscoring of this concern.
There’s also another potential draft-dodging issue in his deferment on medical and occupational deferments in 1969. That seems somewhat less problematic, since the Air Force apparently initiated the termination of his ROTC program based on his hearing deficiencies. In a general election against Hillary Clinton, that will not be much of an issue anyway; she’ll hardly be anxious to bring up draft dodging, considering that her main qualification for the Presidency comes from her time as First Lady to a real draft dodger.
The two leaks should have Giuliani campaigners wondering whether they have a spy in their midst. Both leaks reveal some pretty sensitive strategic evaluations, and both have reinforced some of Giuliani’s more sensitive personal vulnerabilities. Giuliani may need to do a bit of mole-hunting to ensure that more of his confidential documents don’t wind up on the front pages of the nation’s newspapers.
Flap agrees with Ed, on the “Draft Dodging” issue. Rudy did not “DODGE” the draft. And Bill Clinton did.
However, the first divorce after fourteen years of marriage to his second cousin does sound contrived and weird – notwithstanding Catholic divorce annulment rules.
You think?
Rudy will need to address the “mistakes” in his personal life. With a fifty per cent national divorce rate, he will not have to explain too much. Voters will understand and not exclude him from the presidency because of it.
Hell. they elected PHILDANDERER and WOMANIZER Bill Clinton twice.
But, he has to initiate the discussion before the “HIT” television commercials fly.
And the hunt for a campaign mole?
Ed, how do you spell paranoia?
The Giuliani campaign has to tighten its security and limit the availability of sensitive campaign documents. There is more staff on board now and I don’t think these experienced campaign operatives will be loose with either their lips or papers.
The rest of the issues in the vulnerabilities paper have been answered by previous Giuliani campaigns.
The amount of impact?
Minimal…..

Michael Ramirez on Iran Providing Weapons to Iraq War Insurgents
Reuters: Bush says confident Iran provided weapons in Iraq
President George W. Bush on Wednesday said he was convinced a unit of Iran’s military gave explosive devices to Iraqi militants but he could not prove Iran’s leaders ordered the move.
Bush said he was confident that the Quds Force, an elite unit of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, provided explosive devices to Iraqi militants but admitted “I don’t think we know” if Iran’s leaders were behind the effort.
His admission came days after U.S. officials in Baghdad charged that officials at the “highest levels” of Tehran’s government were involved in arming Iraqi militants — an accusation that Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, declined to embrace.
The intelligence community believes the Quds Force would not act without top-level approval.
“Based on our understanding of the Iranian system and the history of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp operations, the intelligence community assesses that activity this extensive on the part of the Quds Force would not be conducted without approval from top leaders in Iran,” said a senior intelligence official.
Mr. President, Iran has been at war with the United States since 1979. If you can prove that Iran manufactured these weapons that have killed American troops then you MUST bomb the Iranian manufacturers of these weapons.

Giuliani Notes: Rudy 32 – McCain 18 in Latest Rasmussen Poll
Rasmussen Reports: 2008 Republican Presidential Primary
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) continues to hold a solid, double-digit, lead in the race for the Republican Presidential nomination. Giuliani attracts support from 32% of Likely Primary Voters, fourteen points more than the number two man in the race, Arizona Senator John McCain. This is the largest lead yet measured for Giuliani. A week ago, he was ahead 27% to 19%.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R) dropped a few more points this week and now is favored by 10%. Trailing Gingrich is former Massachusetts Mitt Romney (R) at 8% and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee (R) at 4%.
In poll after poll, Mayor Giuliani is increasing his lead against John McCain.
The question is:
Will John McCain sit idly by and let Giuliani put up the numbers or will he go negative?
Perceptions of Giuliani have not shifted in the past month. Most Americans (52%), and two-thirds of Republicans (66%), see Giuliani as politically moderate. A plurality of Democrats and unaffiliated voters share that assessment. Among all voters, 28% see the former Mayor as politically conservative while 12% see him as liberal.
Those perceptions help explain why Giuliani consistently outperforms McCain in general election match-ups against leading Democrats. Giuliani leads -ups against every Democrat including Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator Barack Obama, former Senator John Edwards, and former Vice President Al Gore.
Flap’s guess is that if McCain wishes to be competitive the negative campaigning will have to start soon or McCain won’t make it into the summer.
Stay tuned…….

North Korea Watch: Deal or NO Deal?
AFP: Bush should reject North Korea nuclear deal: ex-UN envoy
US President George W. Bush should reject an agreement reached at six-nation talks aimed at ending North Korea’s nuclear weapons program, said Washington’s former UN envoy, John Bolton.
“This is a very bad deal,” Bolton told CNN television, saying it contradicts Bush’s policy and would show US weakness at a time when it is challenging Iran over its controversial nuclear program.
“I’m hoping that the president has not been fully briefed on it and he still has time to reject it,” he said.
He said the agreement, which needs the approval of the six governments involved in the talks, “undercuts” UN sanctions resolutions against North Korea, “and I think the Iranians have only to follow the same example.”
“If the would-be proliferators can simply through persistence get the United States to compromise on its basic principles, they’re going to succeed in proliferation. That’s why this deal is such a bad precedent,” Bolton said.
China circulated Tuesday a “final” joint statement outlining the first steps North Korea would take to end its nuclear drive and the economic rewards it would receive in return, said envoys meeting in Beijing.
Officials have yet to specify the details of the new joint statement, but they made it clear that North Korea would be given rich incentives in terms of oil and other energy aid if it took first steps towards disarming.
The chief US negotiator, Christopher Hill, described the text as “excellent.”
Flap heard Bolton on the Laura Ingraham Show this mornng and he made a convincing argument against the DEAL.
Somehow Bolton is more articulate in the private sector working for the American Enterprise Institute than as a Bush Administration parrot.
James S. Robbins: Deal or No Deal
What’s Korean for “sucker?â€
North Korea’s chief arms negotiator, Kim Kye Gwan, is known as “the Smiling Assassin.†Do you suppose the North Koreans use similar grudgingly respectful terms to describe their American counterparts? Somehow I doubt it. Check out the terms of the latest agreement with North Korea. Pyongyang gets $400 million in aid, chiefly in the form of energy, and we ease economic sanctions. In return they agree to begin to give up the means to produce new nuclear weapons, and establish working groups to discuss maybe shutting down their nuclear program at some future date as yet undetermined. They also get to maintain their current nuclear stockpile. The deal is a dramatic diplomatic victory, but unfortunately not for the U.S.
Read it all.
What yesterday was optimism is now the question: Deal or No Deal?
NO DEAL, continue hastened deployment of National Missile Defense and tighten sanctions.
America can do better.
Stay tuned……
