Moonbat Cartoon Watch: A Bombin’ Nation

This poster evolved out of charting Dick Cheney’s increasingly apoplectic addiction to oil and World Domination. As his frustration grew over the embarrassing search for fake reasons to invade Iraq—phantom WMD’s, for instance—I could just see his inner Enronergizer Bunny popping out of his skull and, in a form of karmic payback (known mostly to old stone cold hippies like myself and the mushrooming members of Hip-Hop Nation), dropping bunnyshitbombs all over him. After all, his vision of America is A BOMBIN’ NATION!

    From the Moonbat LEFT.

And they wonder why they lose elections?

Arnold Schwarzenegger Watch: Bulworth v. Terminator – The QUOTES

Actor Warren Beatty addresses members of the California Nurses Association on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, in Oakland, Calif. Beatty, a Democrat who has been mentioned as a possible challenger to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger next year, has in the past few months emerged as one of the governor’s most visible and vociferous critics.

Flap previously had Arnold Schwarzenegger Watch: Bulworth Rips Arnold a New One.

Will Warren Beatty run against Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger?

    Probably NOT.

But, the immature sandbox type quotes make interesting reading. Well maybe…..

Schwarzenegger to Beatty: “You’re a Crackpot”

Beatty to Schwarzenegger: You are a “right-wing spokesmodel” with “dictatorial … reactionary, union-busting” ways.

    Well….. you get the idea……

    Warren Beatty:

“I have always preferred not to run for public office, and I still prefer not to run for public office. … I believe if a private citizen is able to affect public opinion, he doesn’t have to be an elected public servant to perform a public service,”

“Arnold says he’s not in this for the short run. We have to show him – neither are we!”

He hailed the politically active nurses for giving Schwarzenegger’s administration “the massive enema it deserves … and exposing his policies for what they really are.”

“Governing by show, by stunts, by cosmetics, by photo ops and fake events and fake issues and fake crowds and backdrops – that’s a mistake. … That concept of reality should be saved for action movies and show business.”

    Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger:

The former Mr. Universe hurled a slew of new insults at Beatty just days ago, calling him “starving for attention … jealous … silly.”

And to twist the knife, Schwarzenegger threw in the ultimate Tinseltown dis. “Look, he’s not working and he just feels like maybe he should get involved in politics,” the governor told The Associated Press.

School yard politics…..stay tuned for more……..

President George Bush Watch: Post-Disaster Plan

President Bush participates in a briefing on Hurricane Rita at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas., Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005. Military officials told President Bush on Sunday that the U.S. needs a national plan to coordinate search and rescue efforts following natural disasters or terrorist attacks

The ASSociated Press has Bush Told U.S. Needs Post-Disaster Plan.

Military officials told President Bush on Sunday that the U.S. needs a national plan to coordinate search and rescue efforts following natural disasters or terrorist attacks.

Bush said he is interested in whether the Defense Department should take charge in massive national disasters.

“Clearly, in the case of a terrorist attack, that would be the case, but is there a natural disaster — of a certain size — that would then enable the Defense Department to become the lead agency in coordinating and leading the response effort?” Bush asked. “That’s going to be a very important consideration for Congress to think about.”

The President in time of emergency should have executive authority – as Commander in Chief.

Under the existing relationship, a state’s governor is chiefly responsible for disaster preparedness and response. Governors can request assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. If federal armed forces are brought in to help, they do so in support of FEMA, through Northern Command, set up as part of a military reorganization after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

    Obvious…..DO IT!

California Iraq War Protests Generate Strong Turnout?

A demonstrator, in a U.S. President George W. Bush mask, holds up his hands smeared with mock blood during an anti-war march in downtown Los Angeles September 24, 2005. Thousands of protesters flooded Los Angeles on Saturday to stage demonstrations against the U.S.-led war in Iraq and to demand that Bush bring troops home.

The ASSociated Press has Thousands of Californians protest Iraq war.

Drums pounded, voices boomed and whistles shrieked as thousands of demonstrators marched in the shadows of downtown skyscrapers Saturday to protest America’s involvement in Iraq, one of several California demonstrations on a day of protests across the country.

The crowd, a mix of people ranging from mothers pushing baby strollers to spiky haired punk rockers, chanted for an end to the bloodshed and waved signs that said, “Who would Jesus have bombed?” and “War is not the answer.”

Police closed a downtown street to accommodate the protest, which they said drew an estimated 15,000 people.

The estimated crowds in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and San Francisco are contrived higher than actual numbers.

In any event, 15,000 people turning out for any event in Los Angeles cannot be considered strong. For example, the Los Angeles Marathon in which Flap participated last March had over 20,000 participants.

Actor Ed Asner takes part in a protest against U.S. involvement in Iraq, in downtown Los Angeles Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005. Drums pounded, voices boomed and whistles shrieked as demonstrators, some 15,000 by police estimates, marched in the shadows of downtown skyscrapers Saturday, one of several California demonstrations on a day of protests across the country.

    In San Francisco………

The San Francisco Chronicle has Peace marches draw thousands in S.F., D.C. Bay Area: Largest war protest since Iraq conflict started

It was a sunny day in the Bay Area, a picture-perfect day to cheer for the A’s, enjoy a blues festival, take part in a parade celebrating electronic music, or join peace marches in San Francisco and Walnut Creek.

The march began at 12:30 p.m. at Dolores Park and ended about two hours later at Jefferson Square Park.

The largely peaceful protest in San Francisco drew about 20,000 people, according to police. Organizers put the figure at closer to 50,000. Either way, it was one of the region’s largest anti-war demonstrations since the United States invaded Iraq more than two years ago.

In San Diego, more than 2,000 protesters marched through downtown to a city park where they displayed mock coffins commemorating the deaths of Iraqi civilians and white crosses to represent fallen American soldiers. A small group of counter-protestors turned out to support the war.

The Indepundit SMASH from San Diego has Stealing the Media.

    YAWN!

The radical left and international socialists did NOT turn out many folks, especially since the weather was grand in California today.

Check out the Answer Coalition, one of the radical LEFT sponsors of yesterday’s anti-war demonstrations.

Cindy Sheehan Watch: Anti-War Demonstrations BORE Washington

L-R: Civil rights leader Rev. Jessie Jackson, Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan, NAACP chairman Julian Bond and Rev. Al Sharpton march with thousands of other pro-peace supporters through the streets near the World Bank Group/International Monetary Fund Annual Boards of Governors meetings in Washington, DC.

The ASSociated Press has Anti-War Demonstrators March on Washington.

Crowds opposed to the war in Iraq surged past the White House on Saturday, shouting “Peace now” in the largest anti-war protest in the nation’s capital since the U.S. invasion.

The rally stretched through the day and into the night, a marathon of music, speechmaking and dissent on the National Mall. Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey, noting that organizers had hoped to draw 100,000 people, said, “I think they probably hit that.”

This rally was poorly attended (mainly the radical LEFT and International Socialists) and inconsequential.

The NOT – too busy scene in Washington.

And then the excuses as to why turn-out was low.

Thousands of additional protesters were stranded in New York and other East Coast cities when 13 Amtrak commuter trains either were delayed or canceled because of an early morning electrical outage.

Cindy Sheehan, the California mother who drew thousands of demonstrators to her 26-day vigil outside Bush’s Texas ranch last month, won a roar of approval when she took the stage in Washington. Her 24-year-old son, Casey, was killed in Iraq last year.

“Shame on you,” Sheehan admonished, directing that portion of her remarks to members of Congress who backed Bush on the war. “How many more of other people’s children are you willing to sacrifice?

She led the crowd in chanting, “Not one more.”

YAWN……. BTW President Bush was out of town managing Hurricane Rita relief efforts.

Michelle Malkin has some more photos and MORE of the Washington event.

The Political Teen has video of Cindy Sheehan’s speech. I have video clips of Sheehan, Cynthia McKinney, and the death cries of the moonbats on my Treo 650, which I’ll be attempting to upload later tonight.

Kris at Reflections of a Libertarian Republican was also photoblogging the rally/march. Excellent photos and narrative.

Meanwhile, some more fair and balanced blogospherical coverage:

Jeff Goldstein dissects the MSM’s anti-war protest puffery.
LGF: What if they had a protest and no one came?
Stop the Bleating: Spinning the protests redux
Glenn Reynolds notes that the moonbats are ignoring the Kos pose.

The GayPatriotWest has If Iraq is like Vietnam, how come the rallies keep getting smaller?

And Cindy Sheehan is jealous of the Hurrican Rita television coverage.

George Galloway Watch: Galloway in Los Angeles Part I

Flap previously had George Galloway Watch: Coming to Los Angeles – REMINDER AND DETAILS.

It was the afternoon of Thursday, September 22nd, and after numerous phone calls, e-mails, flakey bloggers and friends, Flap heads off to Los Angeles to see George Galloway on his USA book tour (ending tonight in Washington D.C with the Cindy Sheehan appearing anti-Iraq War peace march).

    Galloway’s Tour Blog is here.

Audio of his previous speech in Chicago is here.

Flap is late ( a relative is unexpectedly and unfortuately admitted to a San Fernando Valley hospital) for the leaflet distribution organized by the Armed Liberal but thanks to Sprint arrives (with a fortuitous on the street parking spot) shortly after 6:30 PM.

The Armed Liberal, friend and leaflets (which AL has decided not to distribute prior to the speech) await Flap on the Immanuel Presbyterian church entrance steps.

    The Armed Liberal
and friend avoiding the Socialist Worker’s folks who were selling their “FREE” newspaper.

Flap thought that someone else would pay for my copy of the Socialist Worker rag but CAPITALISM lives – at least on the streets of LA.

The AL has purchased a ticket for Flap and we are set to enter the church.

    More……… to follow……

Armed Liberal began his live-blogging thread before parenthood called.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Watch: Bulworth Rips Arnold a New One

Actor Warren Beatty addresses members of the California Nurses Association, Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, in Oakland, Calif. Beatty, a Democrat who has been mentioned as a possible challenger to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger next year, has in the past few months emerged as one of the governor’s most visible and vociferous critics.

The AFP has Warren Beatty rips California governor Schwarzenegger.

Hollywood movie star and liberal iconWarren Beatty lambasted Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger at a California state nurses convention late Thursday, but insisted he didn’t want to challenge him in next year’s election.

“I have a day job,” Beatty told the more than 500 nurses at a dinner in Oakland, across the bay from San Francisco. “I can make movies when I want to.”

    What a Laugh!

Warren Beatty can make movies but who will go and see them.

    But, he is RIGHT!.

He better keep his day job because the Governator would KICK his ass if he were to ever get past a Democrat primary election.

Beatty upbraided the governor for not criticizing Bush’s “mistaken gambles” of invading Iraq, not girding levees in Louisiana, and ignoring warnings that could have prevented the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.

Bulworth sounds more like George Galloway than a mainstream Democrat.

Other quotes from Wannabe Pol Beatty:

Schwarzenegger was governing by “show spin, cosmetics, photo ops, fake events, fake issues and backdrops,” Beatty charged.

“Being here allows me to make the case that not all aging, narcissistic movie actors whose children could be mistaken for their grandchildren necessarily act with the same motivation,” Beatty said.

Of course, Warren Beatty is a radical Leftie and has absolutely NO chance of being elected to any office.

But Beatty used most of his address to rail against the Republican governor’s “year of reform” ballot initiatives in the Nov. 8 special election. Schwarzenegger is pushing several measures that would curb the power of the Democrat-controlled Legislature and the state’s powerful public employee unions.

Beatty, who has criticized the governor several times this year, called the initiatives “union busting” and “fascist.”

    More Galloway rhetoric.

    But Bulworth likes the PR.

    Schwarzenegger’s reaction:

Schwarzenegger spokeswoman Margita Thompson said “we don’t care that much about Warren Beatty, and based on his ticket sales from the past generation, I doubt anyone else does either.”

    Indeed.

Osama bin Laden Watch: In Afghanistan?

The Drudge Report has TOP PAKISTANI ANTI-TERROR OFFICIALS BELIEVE BIN LADEN HOLED UP IN AFGHANISTAN WITH LESS THAN 10 MEN, NO LONGER EFFECTIVE
    Fri Sep 23 2005 14:01:11 ET.

The Pakistani military officers battling al Qaeda along the border with Afghanistan who have the latest first-hand information about Osama bin Laden believe he is hiding with a small cadre in Afghanistan and is no longer an effective leader for the terrorist group. Steve Kroft’s report from Pakistan will be broadcast on the 38th season premiere of 60 MINUTES Sunday, Sept. 25 (7:00-8:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS television Network.

“I think now [bin Laden] is being protected or assisted by a very short number, which keeps his profile very low,Ó the counter-terrorism head of Pakistan’s Intelligence Service, ISI, tells Kroft. He is someplace along the border, probably in Afghanistan is what my assessment says, opines the brigadier who goes by the name “Ali” and whose true identity is known by only a few government officials.

Ali tells Kroft his forces have diminished bin Laden’s power by capturing 594 al-Qaeda members and crippling the group’s communications, including infiltrating their courier network. “We have been able to effectively break the communications network from top to bottom. We do not allow these people to communicate with each other,” says Ali.

The information gleaned from the captives and given to coalition officials has helped to prevent planned terror attacks against financial buildings in the U.S., planes and buildings at London’s Heathrow airport and has assisted in the capture of al-Qaeda operatives in Great Britain. “The mere fact that there has not been a replication of 9/11 speaks volumes of what we shared with the world,” boasts Ali.

Finding bin Laden doesn’t matter at this point, believes Lt. Gen. Safdar Hussain, in charge of Pakistan’s anti-terrorism operations along the Afghanistan border. “If [bin Laden] is hiding in a hole, neither the electronic nor the human intelligence can find him,” he tells Kroft. “Is it all that important to find him? If he’s taken out tomorrow, his ideology is not going to come to an end. I don’t think that it’s importantif he is captured. This is my personal view,” says Hussain.

Kroft also spoke to the Pakistani leader, Gen. Pervez Musharraf. “These troops are not certainly on the trail of one man and that’s all they are doing,” notes Musharraf. “We are fighting terrorism wherever it is. If Osama happens to be there incidentally, he will be killed or captured,” he tells Kroft.

    Developing…

Flap disagrees with Lt. Gen Hussain.

Osama bin Laden must be found and tried for crimes against humanity.
