Iran Nuclear Watch: European Union and Iran Resume Nuclear Talks But…..
Iran ‘s top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani(R) and Euroepan Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana face each other during their first day of talks. The two went into a second day of talks, aimed at persuading the Islamic republic to agree to a nuclear deal offered by world powers.
Reuters: EU, Iran resume nuclear talks
The European Union and Iran resumed talks over Tehran’s nuclear ambitions on Thursday as Washington warned time was running out for a deal to avert economic sanctions.
EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana met Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani for more than five hours in Berlin on Wednesday for talks aimed at resolving the dispute.
“The only thing I can say is that talks were very intense,” Solana’s spokeswoman Christina Gallach said after the dinner meeting at a suburban lakeside villa broke off.
But…….
In the meantime in Iran……..
AP: Ahmadinejad: We Won’t Forgo Nuke Rights
Iran‘s hard-line president said Wednesday Iran won’t give up “one iota” of its right to pursue a peaceful nuclear program.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reiterated his uncompromising stance as Iran’s top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani held talks with European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana in Berlin, described by an EU official as “very intense.”
The Quote:
“In negotiations, they tell us to suspend (uranium) enrichment even for a day on the pretext of a technical problem so that they continue talks,” state-run television quoted Ahmadinejad as saying Wednesday. “Our response to them is that no one has the right to give up the rights of the Iranian nation.”
Now, even Ahmadinejad is “MOCKING” the fecklessness of the EU in their negotiations.
The United States in NOT desperate to reach a negotiated settlement with Iran. The American position is Iran can either suspend uranium enrichment or face sanctions.
Let’s move on folks……
The P-5-Plus-1 Proposal is DEAD.Â
Iran Covets nuclear weapons
Next stop = United Nations Security Council
Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani(R) and Euroepan Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana chat prior to their first day of talks in Berlin.
Stay tuned…….

Israel at War Watch: Little Pressure on Hezbollah to DISARM
AP: Little pressure on Hezbollah to disarm
Six weeks after the end of the Lebanon war, the militant Hezbollah group is facing little on-the-ground pressure to give up its weapons and disarm — despite a U.N. cease-fire resolution demanding just that.
The leaders of a U.N. peacekeeping force in south Lebanon say the job is not theirs. And Lebanon’s ill-equipped army, some of whose soldiers wear tin-pot helmets and carry outdated M-16 rifles, shows no signs of diving into a confrontation with battle-hardened Hezbollah fighters.
For now, all sides say it’s likely full disarmament will happen only in the future as part of a political solution — despite the U.N. resolution that ended the 34-day war on Aug. 14 and required disarmament.
This demonstrates the fecklessness of the United Natiions and how ineffective United Nations Security Council Resolutions are. The controling resolution is UNSCR 1701 whose text is here.
Just like Flap said the first time.
Since Hezbollah is not disarming a new war with Israel is inevitable.
Stay tuned as both sides rearm……

Rudy Giuliani Watch: No Blame Game for 9/11 – Defends Clinton and Bush
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani campaigns for Charlie Crist, the Republican candidate for governor of Florida, Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, in Dania Beach, Fla.
AP: Giuliani Defends Clinton on 9/11 Efforts
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani defended Bill Clinton on Wednesday over the former president’s counterterrorism efforts, saying recent criticism on preventing the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks is wrong.
Political bickering over which president – Clinton or George W. Bush – missed more opportunities to prevent the attacks has been escalating since Clinton gave a combative interview on “Fox News Sunday” in which he defended his efforts to kill Osama bin Laden.
“The idea of trying to cast blame on President Clinton is just wrong for many, many reasons, not the least of which is I don’t think he deserves it,” Giuliani said in response to a question after an appearance with fellow Republican Charlie Crist, who is running for governor. “I don’t think President Bush deserves it. The people who deserve blame for Sept. 11, I think we should remind ourselves, are the terrorists – the Islamic fanatics – who came here and killed us and want to come here again and do it.”
Well, Rudy doesn’t want to pick an unnecessary early fight with the Clintons.
But, he is WRONG.
It was Bill Clinton and the Clintonistas that began the BLAME GAME with the airing of the Path to 9/11. Remember Clinton tried to get it NOT SHOWN or taken off the air.
Giuliani also said a recently declassified report that said the Iraq war had become a “cause celebre” for Islamic extremists demonstrated the need to continue the fight there.
“The jihadists very much want a victory in Iraq. They feel that if they could defeat us in Iraq they will have a great victory for terrorism,” Giuliani said. “What that should do is organize us to say if they want a big victory in Iraq then we have to deprive them of that victory.”
Rudy is RIGHT here.
Giuliani eventually will mix it up with Bill and Hillary Clinton – that is if he desires the White House in 2008.
Stay tuned……

Cox & Forkum: The Clinton Legacy
Cox & Forkum: The Clinton Legacy
CNN: Sen. Clinton backs husband’s efforts to fight terrorism.
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton Tuesday defended her husband in an ongoing war of words with conservatives over whether the administration did enough to fight terrorism.
The exchange started during a Sunday TV interview in which President Clinton defended his efforts to track down and kill al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
“I think my husband did a great job in demonstrating that Democrats are not going to take these attacks,” Sen. Clinton said.
“You know, and I’m certain that if my husband and his national security team had been shown a classified report entitled ‘Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States’ he would have taken it more seriously than history suggests it was taken by our current president and his national security team.”
This is revisionist history on the part of Hillary.
Or wishful thinking……..

Hugo Chavez Watch: 7-Eleven Dropping Venezuela’s CITGO
Kenmore Square and the landmark Citgo sign are seen from the roof of the John Hancock Tower in Boston on Monday, Feb. 13, 2006. Boston City Councilor Jerry McDermott wants to take down the famed sign in Kenmore Square in response to controversial remarks by Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez when he called President Bush ‘the devil’ during a speech at the U.N. General Assembly Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006.
Convenience store operator 7-Eleven Inc. is dropping Venezuela-backed Citgo as its gasoline supplier at more than 2,100 locations and switching to its own brand of fuel.
The retailer said Wednesday it will purchase fuel from several distributors, including Tower Energy Group of Torrance, Calif., Sinclair Oil of Salt Lake City, and Houston-based Frontier Oil Corp.
A spokeswoman for Dallas-based 7-Eleven said its 20-year contract with Citgo Petroleum Corp. ends next week. About 2,100 of 7-Eleven’s 5,300 U.S. stores sell gasoline.
Citgo is a Houston-based subsidiary of Venezuela’s state-owned oil company, and the foreign parent became a public-relations issue for 7-Eleven because of comments by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
Good for 7-Eleven.
But, America needs to end its dependence on foreign sources of energy.

Iran Nuclear Watch: Crunch or Last Chance Iran-EU Talks in Berlin?
EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana (R) shakes hands with top Iranian nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani in Vienna on September 9. Larijani was to hold crunch talks with the EU’s foreign policy chief in a final chance for the Islamic republic to agree to a nuclear deal offered by world powers
AFP: Crunch Iran-EU nuclear talks to start in Berlin
Iran’s top nuclear negotiator was to hold crunch talks with the EU’s foreign policy chief in a final chance for the Islamic republic to agree to a nuclear deal offered by world powers.
The German government said the talks would begin Wednesday at 5:00 pm (1500 GMT), but did not disclose the location.
“This meeting is part of our efforts to find a diplomatic solution,” German foreign ministry spokesman Martin Jaeger said.
Solana’s spokeswoman and an Iranian source close to the negotiations also confirmed the meeting would take place.
“Mr Ali Larijani is in Berlin with his delegation to meet Mr Solana,” the Iranian source told AFP.
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said earlier that the talks had been supposed to take place in New York but were switched to Europe because Larijani had visa problems.
The discussions have been billed as a last opportunity for Iran to agree to a suspension of sensitive uranium enrichment activities as demanded by the UN Security Council and stave off the threat of UN sanctions.
THE NUTS: Whether Iran will suspend uranium enrichment and accept the P-5-Plus-1 Offer.
The Washington Times reported yesterday that that Bush administration officials say Mr. Solana has been negotiating a deal with Mr. Larijani that calls for Iran to suspend uranium enrichment for 90 days and to keep it secret, so additional talks could be held with several European nations. Iran has since denied a “SECRET” deal.
Obviously, any suspension or halt to Iranian uranium enrichment would only be acceptable with inspections by the IAEA. The press would stake out those folks and immediately report. End of secret suspension.
Iran’s best deal and most wise course of action is to accept suspension of their nuclear program for a lengthy period of time and receive the gratuities offered by the EU and other P-5 nations.But…….
IRAN COVETS NUCLEAR WEAPONS
There will be NO DEAL with the P-5-Plus-1 while the fanatical Ahmadinejad and Mullahs control the government of Iran.
Prepare today/tonight for additional stalling and talks about future negotiations.
Stay tuned……
