Mark Foley Sex Scandal Watch: Three More Pages Accuse Foley
ABC News: Three More Former Pages Accuse Foley of Online Sexual Approaches
Three more former congressional pages have come forward to reveal what they call “sexual approaches” over the Internet from former Congressman Mark Foley.
The pages served in the classes of 1998, 2000 and 2002. They independently approached ABC News after the Foley resignation through the Brian Ross & the Investigative Team‘s tip line on ABCNews.com. None wanted their names used because of the sensitive nature of the communications.
“I was seventeen years old and just returned to [my home state] when Foley began to e-mail me, asking if I had ever seen my page roommates naked and how big their penises were,” said the page in the 2002 class.
The former page also said Foley told him that if he happened to be in Washington, D.C., he could stay at Foley’s home if he “would engage in oral sex” with Foley.
Obviously NO prank here…….
Allah has a comprehensive linkage of updating Foley scandal events.
With this revelation a Hastert apology is certainly not enough.
Look at some of the polls here, here, and here. And they are likely to get worse.
If the GOP wishes to lose 50-60 seats and the majority in the United States Senate, then leave Hastert as Speaker and Boehner as Majority Leader.
The President as head of the Republican Party should have a nationally televised news conference Friday and accept the GOP House leadership’s resignations.
Stay tuned…….

Los Angeles Times Watch: Times Publisher Jeffrey Johnson Forced Out
Los Angeles Times: Times Publisher Johnson Forced Out
The Tribune Co. forced out Los Angeles Times Publisher Jeffrey M. Johnson this morning, a little more than a month after he defied the media conglomerate’s demands for staff cuts that he suggested could damage the newspaper.
Tribune Publishing President Scott C. Smith huddled with top managers at the newspaper this morning and announced that David Hiller, publisher of the Chicago Tribune, would immediately replace Johnson as chief executive at the 125-year-old newspaper. Hiller is the 12th publisher of The Times.
LA Observed has all the POOP:
Business community ‘concerned’

To: zzAll LATimes Employees
Subject: A Note From David Hiller
October 5, 2006To all of my new colleagues:By now you have heard that I have been named publisher, following my friend Jeff Johnson.
I hope to meet as many of you as possible in the days and weeks ahead, but wanted to introduce myself today even if email seems inadequate under the circumstances. Here’s what I want you to know:
I read and love newspapers and have the highest regard for the Los Angeles Times, its great journalism, and the special role it plays in Southern California.
I have worked with many of you and know what a talented and creative team we have here.
I believe in the future of newspapers as the most trusted source of news and information in the communities we serve. To achieve that future we have to continue to change, because our readers, online users and advertising customers continue to change.
I have a lot to learn about the Times and our community, and with your help I will try to be a fast learner.
It is an honor to be able to come here and work with you
Thanks and I look forward to meeting you soon.
David
Flap has NOT subscribed to the Los Angeles Times in five years and have not cared a wit since the Chandler family sold the newspaper.
Under Jeff Johnson, Flap has noted NO improvements in coverage or bias. Same ol’ Same ol’!
Flap suspects the appointment of Hiller is just temporary until the Tribune Comapny can dump this slumping property.
Stay tuned…….
Los Angeles Times Editor John S. Carroll, left, announces his retirement to news staff. Managing Editor Dean P. Baquet, center, will succeed him on Aug. 15. Publisher Jeffrey M. Johnson, right, praised Carroll’s leadership, saying, “We are indebted to him for his extraordinary legacy of journalistic excellence and wish him every happiness in the future.â€

Mark Foley Sex Scandal Watch: AOL Instant Message Exchanges of Jordan Edmund Are a PRANK
Matt Drudge: CLAIM: FILTHY FOLEY ONLINE MESSAGES WERE PAGE PRANK GONE AWRY
According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats. This source, an ally of Edmund, also adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund.
The news come on the heels that former FBI Chief Louis Freeh has been named to investigate the mess.
Developing…
Flap has been asking about those AOL IM’s and how they were obtained by Brian Ross of ABC News.
But, now a set-up of Foley by some smart-ass Pages to F**K around with him.
Pretty sad and pathetic – if true.
Stay tuned………

Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert Watch: Hastert on the Laura Ingraham Show
Update:Fox News is reporting that a GOP pollster has reported to the GOP House Leadership that the continued presence of Speaker Hastert could mean a loss of up to 50 seats in the November election versus 20 seats if he leaves.Speaker Hastert is to have a news conference soon.
Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert is being interviewed by Laura Ingraham on her national radio show. Hastert states that the “buck stops here” on the Mark Foley sex scandal.
The Speaker should RESIGN.
Hastert’s responses are WEAK and PATHETIC.
He has cancelled all of his GOP fundraising for the next week.
New York Times: Hastert Tells Conservative He’ll Resign If It Helps GOP
House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., told a leading conservative Wednesday that he would resign as the top congressional leader if it would help the Republican Party stave off defeat in November. But conservative activist Paul Weyrich said Hastert has rejected calls for his resignation because he believes it would prompt “a feeding frenzy†that ultimately would lead to the downfall of other GOP leaders as well.
“He said if he thought that resigning would be helpful to the Republicans maintaining the majority, he would do it. But he did not think it would be helpful for Republicans,†Weyrich said in an interview after holding what he described as an emotional telephone conversation with Hastert, who is home in Illinois campaigning and trying to deal with the fallout from the Mark Foley scandal.
Hastert HAS to GO.
Will his help the GOP maintain the majorities in the House and Senate?
Doubtful…….look for a Democrat landslide in November.
American voters will punish Republicans for their abysmal handling of this matter.

Guantanamo Bay Watch: The Inside Story Part 4
In this image reviewed by the U.S. Military, an unidentified detainee is escorted by two military guards at Camp Delta, in this June 25, 2005 file photo, at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, in Cuba.
Patterico has part four of his series on Guantanamo Bay: The Treatment of the Detainees.
In today’s entry, Stashiu talks about the United States’ treatment of the detainees at Guantánamo — and the detainees’ treatment of U.S. personnel. If you read to the end, you might also learn who has been abusing Korans at Gitmo.]
Read it all.
Amazing to Flap is that the detainees obtain same day dental care.
Flap cannot imagine Islamist terrorists who might capture an American providing dental care except the pain control as a result of cutting off their head.
And you are saying the prisoners are ACTUALLY defacing their OWN Korans?
Go figure…..Flap could imagine them hiding contraband or weapons inside.

Iran Nuclear Watch: Russia Continues to Oppose Iran Sanctions
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad clenches his fist during a public gathering in the city of Karaj, 21 miles (35 kilometers) west of the capital Tehran, Iran, Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006. A top European Union negotiator said Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006 that ‘endless hours’ of talks with Iran about its nuclear program have failed to make any progress, while the Iranian president said U.N. sanctions would not stop Tehran from enriching uranium.
AP: Russia still opposes Iran sanctions
Russia’s foreign minister said Thursday that Moscow remains opposed to sanctions against
Iran in the dispute over Tehran’s nuclear program.Sergey Lavrov said in Warsaw that he will discuss the standoff with Iran in a meeting with his U.S., British, German, French and Chinese counterparts on Friday in London.
Imposing sanctions would be “extreme” and unconstructive, he said.
“I think that until all diplomatic possibilities have been exhausted, sanctions would be extreme,” Lavrov told reporters after meeting with his Polish counterpart, Anna Fotyga. “I think we need to do all we can to push Iran toward starting negotiations.”
Nothing new here. Russia has always opposed United Nations Security Council sanctions because of their business/commercia relationships with Iran.
The P-5-Plus-1 negotiations have been a FAILURE and the United States should withdraw their participation.
President Bush with new Congressional authority in the Iran Freedom Support Act should impose American sanctions IMMEDIATELY.
