Dixie Chicks Watch: Chicks to Split Up After Grammy Awards?

The Dixie Chicks are getting ready to fly the coop!
The controversial country superstars have secretly decided to split up after the Grammy Awards – because Emily Robison and Martie Maguire no longer want to share the nest with outspoken Natalie Maines, say sources.
“The Chicks are tired and wrung out,” said a group insider. “They feel they’ve come to the end, and they want a break from each other to spend more time with their families.”
Flap somehow doubts that the Chicks will be breaking up for good. They have taken a hiatus before to have children and spend time with husbands. But, touring and controversy does take a toll.
The three women, who have seven children among them, are at odds over Natalie’s blunt political ramblings. And while sources say sisters Emily and Martie share many of Natalie’s anti-George W. Bush views, they feel her public rants have taken the focus off their music.
“They’ve supported many of her political beliefs, even though it’s put their lives and the lives of their families in jeopardy,” said the insider.
“They’ve received death threats, and it’s made them all nervous wrecks.”
Look for a two year hiatus with some studio work beginning in a year. But, there will NOT be another tour until AFTER the 2008 Presidential campaign.

Yes I agree with you, I think The Dixie Chicks are just going to roost for a while. In 2005 they spent nearly a half the year in the LA studio writing and recording then the spent nearly all of 2006 away for home promoting and touring. They deserve some time off.

Yes a true statement, they need a break after being away from home for the last 1-1/2 years. The National Enquirer wants everyone the believe they are parting ways for good however the “insider” statements never say that, it simply reads they are taking a break.
The other “insider†quotes simply appear to be old news taken out of context to juice up gossip and speculation.

The fact that we allow them to continue their careers is way beyond me.
They should have lost all privileges to spew their rhetoric to the American people, and they should ban that idiot up front from any public speaking; as it’s just a total embarrassment to the other two!!!

Wes, it’s amazing that you can type considering that you still haven’t evolved enough to walk upright! The Dixie Chicks were proven right. Bush lied about the weapons of mass destruction and lied about the WAR being over. So, maybe you should be be more angry with Bush and Cheney. By the way, have you ever heard of the right of free speech.

I certainly agree with you, the Chicks were definitely proven right! I’ve fully supported them from the time Natalie made her London comment. I’m glade that you share my sentiments. So why are you jumping all over me?
I don’t know how I could have shown more anger toward those three idiots in the Whitehouse than my post indicated; without insulting the other readers.
Maybe it’s you that has yet to learn how to walk upright, as you have apparently failed to grasp the concept of IRONY!
