Giuliani Notes: The California Electability Card
Republican presidential hopeful and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (center) laughs with diners at a restaurant in Burlingame on Wednesday, May 30, 2007.
San Francisco Chronicle: Giuliani pushes appeal to California moderates
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, in Burlingame today on a campaign swing, chastised Democratic presidential hopefuls Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama as tax-raising liberals who would cripple the state’s economy while he painted himself as the only Republican candidate who is moderate enough to win state like California in November 2008.
The comments to reporters outside Burlingame’s Broadway Grill highlighted the political schizophrenia Giuliani faces as he tries to appeal to the conservative Republicans he needs to win the GOP nomination and the moderate independent, Democratic and GOP voters he must attract to have a chance to take the presidency in the general election.
The pro-choice Giuliani, who aggressively backed tougher firearm regulations in New York City, argued that he is “the one Republican candidate who has a legitimate chance to win California” — a state dominated by Democrats — in the presidential election.
Giuliani said the Republican Party must nominate a candidate who has a legitimate chance of winning in such Democratic strongholds as Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois, California, Oregon and Washington if it intends to keep the White House in 2008 and he’s the only one who fills that bill.
But the former mayor also gave the party’s conservative wing a bow when he slammed Clinton, a New York senator, and Obama, a senator from Illinois, as free-spending backers of big government “who don’t seem to really understand how the private economy works.”
Rudy has it RIGHT.
And his February 5 strategy will win him the GOP nomination. Then, the Democrat blue states of Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Oregon, Washington and California will ALL be in play. With any other GOP nominee, this will NOT be the case.
Rudy plays the ELECTABILITY CARD.

11-Year-Old Bags 1,051-Pound Wild Boar: Hogzilla or Hogwash?
In this photo released by Melynne Stone, Jamison Stone, 11, poses with a wild pig he killed near Delta, Ala., May 3, 2007. Stone’s father says the hog weighed a staggering 1,051 pounds and measured 9-feet-4 from the tip of its snout to the base of its tail. If claims of the animal’s size are true, it would be larger than “Hogzilla,” the huge hog killed in Georgia in 2004.
Bore or Boar?
Well, we know the answer to that one: Rosie

Giuiani Notes: Fred’s In, Who’s Hurt?
Former New York City Mayor and Republican Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani hearing that Fred Thompson will enter the Presidential race around the 4th of July.
Chris has the analysis absolutely RIGHT.
The biggest LOSER is Romney.
Then, McCain
The WINNER: Rudy
Folks, you are looking at the 2008 GOP ticket: Giuliani-Thompson.
By the way, the Mayor above is laughing at a joke with a California voter in Burlingame earlier today.

At the end of the video watch Hillary Clinton RUDELY refuse a “PINK SLIP” from a Code Pink protester.
Is there little wonder why Hillary will not apologize for her pro-Iraq War vote?

Mitt Romney Watch: Another Flip – Immigration
Watch the video and compare it to this:
Well, Mitt make up your mind.
Sheesh……….
Update:
Border security group attacks Romney for flip-flopping on immigration
In 2006 Governor Romney supported the President’s immigration policy as well as the McCain-Kennedy bill. He expressed support for an immigration program that places large numbers of illegal residents on the path toward citizenship and said illegal immigrants should have a chance to obtain citizenship.
He even went as far as to say that Republicans that break from the President on this issue are making a “big mistake” according to the Associated Press.
…
Governor Romney has a long history of flip-flops on issues from abortion, to gun control, to gay rights. This pattern of shifting positions should concern Iowa conservatives who are dedicated to securing our border and solving the illegal immigration crisis.

Iran Nuclear Watch: Ali Larijani – Suspension of Uranium Enrichment is Not Acceptable at All
Iran’s top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani speaks to the press at Mehrabbad airport in Tehran. Larijani said Iran would not halt uranium enrichment, on the eve of talks with the EU foreign policy chief over Iran’s controversial nuclear programme.
Iran continues to stall as they develop their uranium enrichment program (nuclear weapons development) and ignores United Nations Security Council Resolutions:
Iran will continue to stall until they reach BREAKOUT CAPABILITY.
The NUCLEAR POINT OF NO RETURN is at hand.

Fred Thompson Watch: Thompson is IN
Former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson attends the Prescott Bush Awards Dinner, Thursday, May 24, 2007, in Stamford Conn. Hundreds of state Republicans turned out Thursday for the party’s annual fundraising dinner to listen for signs that the pool of presidential hopefuls may have another contender. Thompson was the keynote speaker and the approximate 600 guests paid between $250 to $1,000 for a chance to meet the Tennessee Republican.
Fred Thompson will announce his candidacy for the Presidency over the Fourth of July holiday.
Thompson fans register and discuss everything Fred Thompson here.
The sounds you hear are:
1. The Mitt Romney campaign imploding
2. John McCain planning a withdrawal date and not from Iraq
3. The Iowa Ames Straw Poll folks wondering what went wrong.
Stay tuned……
Update:
Enter Number Eleven? Fred Thompson makes it (more) official. According to a campaign source, Thompson will file his FEC papers officially on Monday June 4. In FEC parlance, Thompson is opening a “testing the waters” committee, a technical term that allows Thompson to forgo filing a detailed report on June 30 — though once he’s an official candidate, he’ll have to file retroactively.
The June 4 filing will be coordinated with a first-day fundraising blitz with 100-plus “First Day Founders” raising a significant one day sum in order to send a we’re-in-the-first-tier message. The campaign tells us the “first day” blitz totals they report will be “cash” actually raised, not pledges.
The source didn’t dispute the notion that the one-day goal would be north of seven figures.
The Ames Straw Poll is 72 days away.
More on yesterday’s conference call to donors……
From the Weekly Standard: Testing the Waters
Specifically, a Thompson adviser told The New York Sun yesterday, he will announce the formation of a presidential “testing-the-waters” committee early next week — possibly as early as Sunday.
