Mitt Romney,  President 2008

The Phony Mitt Romney Campaign

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, right, and his wife Ann wave after Romney made a speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference that he is dropping out of the Presidential race on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, in Washington.

Howard Fineman of Newsweek BURIES Mitt Romney for 2008 and future Presidential campaigns.

The KEY GRAPH:

The quality of being genuine is hard to convey, and deciding who should be president based solely on that basis can lead to disaster; you need brains and an ability to go with the flow as well. But voters know a phony above all and Romney came off as one from the get-go. Over the last decade he had changed his views in a rightward direction on so many issues to suit what he thought he needed to win the GOP nomination that he ended up standing for nothing but his own ambition.

Flap agrees if Mitt had run as the moderate businessman who he really is, his candidacy might have been an easier sell. But, his pandering to the pro-life RIGHT was a disaster. GOP Evangelicals would NEVER accept his Mormonism either – no matter what he did to mollify them.

Mitt Romney is done. There is NO HOPE for a future campaign for the Presidency no matter what talk radio pundits like Hugh Hewitt say.

Voters know an ambitious phony when they see one.

Bye Bye Mitt.

Thanks for posting excerpts from the Fineman piece. I remember hearing Fineman commenting a couple of months ago how much the other republcan candidates disliked Romney. It appears that was also the case with Fineman–and for good reason.

    That is one opinion.

Certainly Romney has learned a lot from his campaign and he has many loyal supporters willing to support him in 2012. The newness of voting for a Mormon candidate will have calmed by then. There are so many factors that set the stage for a successful run; it is very likely that his chances are excellent. I know that grassroots efforts are already beginning.

You are assuming that John McCain loses in 2008 and that if he does that the Democrat President would not be an easy candidate for re-election in 2012.

I suspect all of the supporters of Romney will attempt to sabotage the GOP this Fall.

This will not help Mitt though. He would never be able to beat a Democrat in a national general election.

Romeny will never be the republican candidate for president. He fails to connect with the common folks ( for obvious reasons ) and the south would never support him because of his religion.

I would like to see both Romney and the Rombots give it up and disappear. I have heard enough from his supporters who dominate some of the political blogs.

      I agree.

Romney and his band of Mormon Mafia will NEVER be mainstream for the American public not to view them with suspicion.

Should he ever be the nominee of the GOP it will be the end of the Republican Party.

    Howie:

Howie Fineman of Newsweek commenting on Mitt Romney! Talk about a fox sitting at the trial of a hen!

This article makes it clear how the left-wing media has steered the election toward John McKennedy (the nominee who made a pathetic apologetic speech to the National Conservative convention today and was booed for his stance on immigration). My husband and I have supported Romney because my husband’s college classmate, who knew Romney well before Mitt needed our vote or our money, vouched for his integrity. His loyalty and admiration of Mitt has only grown during the campaign. All of the members of Mitt’s campaign team I have had contact with, share his admiration. Your allegation that Romney’s candidacy was based on a lie about his essence is false.

It is apparent that you are very jealous of Romney’s success. Not only is Romney 1) brilliant, 2) very handsome, 3) a loyal husband and father, but he is also 4) rich of his own making. It is readily apparent that you lack qualities 1,2 and 4. Furthermore, Romney has sacrificed a substantial portion of his personal wealth out of a sense of duty toward his country. You wouldn’t understand what it is like to spend $30 million of hard-earned money, nor would career politicians like Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. As a journalist, you don’t make much money. As politicians, any money that Clinton and Obama have to spend on political campaigns is of questionable legitimacy. Romney is the shining star; you are the petty commentator.

You and your allies from the left-wing media and Hollywood have succeed for now in defeating Romney. But don’t think he is finished. Although Hillary or Obama will probably win in 2008 (since you have steered the election toward McKennedy and Huckleberry), your party’s illogical principles ensure it will self-destruct.
There are four reasons why the Democrat candidate will self-destruct.

First, private entities pursuing a profit motive, are vastly superior to government in economic matters. We were able to win the Cold War against Russia because our capitalist system generated the funds to outspend our enemy. Democrat proposals like national healthcare will be a disaster.

Second, taking money from those who earn it and giving it to those who don’t is not only unfair but it creates perverse incentives. Democrat proposals for higher taxes to fund entitlement programs will bankrupt our economy. We have a moral hazard in our political system: those who pay nothing for governmental services vote for people who will give them more.

Third, a society that destroys human life and promotes sexual deviance will create a devastating karma. 40 million babies have been killed since Roe vs. Wade; we are destroying our race as others proliferate.

Fourth, we are at war with Muslim extremists. The wimps of the Democrat party think we can talk our way out of war; worse still, they have undermined the war for political gain. We are at war, and we have to fight whether we do it preemptively or after an Armegeddon. Bill Clinton destroyed the military and brought September 11 upon us; the next time this happens it will be under the watch of a Democrat president. In essence, Romney is on the proper side of each of these four issues.

You are the liar Howie. You will always be a petty news commentator. And after Hillary and/or Barack have destroyed the country, Mitt Romney will be President.

Mitt Romney will never be President and it has nothing to do with jealousy, etc.

Romney is a phony baloney politician who will say anything and do anything to get himself elected President.

America can and WILL do better.

Ann says that her husband’s college classmate vouched for Romney’s integrty. Romney was a classmate of one of my law partners in law school. My partner has told me that no one in the class could stand Romney. He was an arrogant elitist who even at that time made it known that he would be President some day.

It seems that he had the same traits in law school that made the republican candidates detest him during the primaries.

No wonder Rudy endorsed McCain rather than Romney.
