Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran Sanctions Delayed AGAIN
World powers delay Iran sanctions action
The world’s major powers agreed on Friday to delay a vote on tougher sanctions on Iran until late November at the earliest, depending on reports by the U.N. nuclear watchdog and a European Union negotiator.
The outcome was a temporary setback for the United States and France, which had sought swifter action to step up economic and political pressure on the Islamic Republic over its refusal to halt uranium enrichment, which the West suspects is aimed at developing nuclear arms.
More delay and obfuscation.
Face it folks. Russia, China and Germany have too many trade ties to Iran to vote harsh economic sanctions.
Flap continues to wonder why President Bush is waiting?

Iran Nuclear Watch: Nuclear Issue Closed
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addresses the 62nd session of the United Nations General Assembly at the United Nations Headquarters, Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007.
Iran leader says nuclear issue closed
Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared Tuesday that Iran’s disputed nuclear program is closed as a political issue and said Tehran will ignore a U.N. Security Council demand imposed by “arrogant powers” to curb its nuclear program.
Instead, he told world leaders at the U.N. General Assembly that Iran has decided to pursue the monitoring of its nuclear program “through its appropriate legal path,” the International Atomic Energy Agency, which is the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency.
When Ahmadinejad was ushered to the podium, the U.S. delegation walked out, leaving only a low-ranking note-taker to listen to his speech, which indirectly accused the United States and Israel of major human rights violations. State Department spokesman Gonzalo Gallegos said the U.S. wanted “to send him a powerful message.”
The Iranian president spoke shortly before German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned the diplomats of “disastrous consequences” for Israel and the world if Iran acquires a nuclear bomb. “The world does not have to prove to Iran that Iran is building a nuclear bomb. Iran has to convince the world that it is not striving towards such a bomb.”
The nuclear issue IS closed for the United States and Israel.
Next, will come European Union-American harsh economic and travel sanctions. When the sanctions fail within six months or so, the United States Navy will blockade the Iranian import of gasoline.
Of course, Israel may become impatient and bomb Natanz and other Iran nuclear facilities straight away.
Stay tuned………

Iran Nuclear Watch: Sarkozy – Nuclear Iran Could Lead to WAR
France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy addresses the 62nd United Nations General Assembly at the U.N. headquarters in New York, September 25, 2007.
Sarkozy says letting Iran go nuclear could cause war
Allowing Iran to acquire nuclear weapons could destabilize the world and lead to war, French President Nicolas Sarkozy told the United Nations on Tuesday.
In his maiden speech to the U.N. General Assembly, Sarkozy said: “There will be no peace in the world if the international community falters in the face of nuclear arms proliferation.”
Iran was entitled to nuclear power for civilian purposes, he said, “but if we allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, we would incur an unacceptable risk to stability in the region and in the world”.
In a broader warning against the dangers of appeasement, the new French leader said: “Weakness and renunciation do not lead to peace. They lead to war.”
Iran insists its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, but the West suspects the Islamic Republic of enriching uranium to develop a nuclear weapons capability.
Underlining French support for tougher sanctions against Tehran, sought by the United States but opposed by Russia and China, Sarkozy said: “We can only resolve this crisis by combining firmness with dialogue.”
Well, DUH.
France is finally “GETTING IT.”
And where would Iran’s nuclear tipped missiles be first aimed? Why at France and the rest of Europe.
The United States has defensive missile capability and a nuclear arsenal that would create ASH out of Iran if the United States were attacked.
China and Russia have cut side deals for Iranian oil and are supplying Iran with advanced military technology.
Where does this leave Europe should Iran develop nuclear weapon technology and capability?
Exactly
In the sights of nuclear blackmail and/or terrorist nuclear attack.
The French President, unlike Jacques Chirac, his predecessor, understands the Islamofascist propensity for deceit and then control. He has seen it first hand in France.
Watch for one last push for United Nations sanctions, then America-EU sanctions and then the inevitable bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Stay tuned………

Iran Watch: Ahmadinejad – We Don’t Have Homosexuals
Iran’s president: ‘We don’t have homosexuals’
Columbia University President Lee Bollinger excoriated Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday, going through a long list of documented actions and remarks by the firebrand Iranian leader and his government.
“Mr. President, you exhibit all the signs of a petty and cruel dictator,” Bollinger said to applause from many of the 600 people in the room for a speech from the Iranian leader. …
Asked about widely documented government abuse of women and homosexuals in his country, Ahmadinejad said, “We don’t have homosexuals” in Iran. “I don’t know who told you we had it,” he said.
Sharia Law says NO homosexuality and Mahmoud is the grand enforcer of Sharia Law in Iran – hence the denial.

From Gay Republic News: Interview with Iranian Gay Couple.
Q: What is the problem of an Iranian homosexual?Kaveh: The first is that we cannot discuss any of our problems. We have a problem with the government due to our sexual orientation; the Islamic government does not accept us and we are condemned to hanging and stoning. In comparison the rest of the problems are minor.
Mere Rhetoric has graphic photos of how the Islamic regime treats homosexuals.
Now, does anyone understand why this Islamic terrorist dictator should NOT have been invited to spread his BS at Columbia University?

Rudy Giuliani on Iran President Ahmadinejad’s appearance today at Columbia University:
SEAN HANNITY: “You had as Mayor of New York a number of confrontations with some of these leaders and now we have this controversy at Columbia today with Mahmud Ahmadinejad and the invitation by Columbia. Your thoughts?â€
MAYOR GIULIANI: “My thoughts are he should never have been invited in the first place. I think this is a distinguished lecture series, what it suggests is you make a selection right? But thousands of people conceivably would want to speak at Columbia, they only pick a certain number, and it would seem to me you don’t pick somebody who is the biggest—the head of the government that’s the biggest sponsor of state terrorism in the world, a government that is by every indication that we have presently engaged in activities that are resulting in the death of American troops., someone who has threatened the existence of the state of Israel, denied the Holocaust. I heard some of his answers on the Holocaust, of course they were absurd. The idea that it needs further research. I think the fact of the Holocaust has been pretty darn well established, doesn’t need further research. This is just part of his constant refrain of anti-Semitism, threats on Israel, threats on the United States. … Doing this, giving him this kind of status–even though the President of Columbia introduced him with an insult, he just responded with an insult–I believe this may underscore some of their fantasies that they really do have a world stage and that they really should be taken seriously and maybe they can fool us and maybe they can fool a certain number of us. So I think this is a damaging thing doing something like this with someone as deranged as Ahmadinejad is. You have no idea what you’re playing with here. So why would you invite him to a distinguished lecture series?â€
HANNITY: “While Bollinger in his introduction said his views were ridiculous, the Holocaust is not an issue in dispute, that his arguments were absurd.â€
GIULIANI: “But then he turned the podium over to him.â€
HANNITY: “Well then he turned the podium over to him and I’ll tell you what was more frightening to me, immediately thereafter, here was Ahmadinejad basically saying he found the introduction insulting but more importantly I want you to listen to the students’ reactions and clapping for Ahmadinejad in the background. … Does that student reaction frighten you as much as it does me?â€
GIULIANI: “Well here’s—this is really to my point, Sean. It frightens me because I don’t know what kind of reaction Ahmadinejad has to that, which means he comes away from this thinking, hey there’s a strong level of support for me in the United States of America, maybe I can push these people a little further, maybe I can take advantage of them a little bit more. That’s why I say in spite of the fact that the president of Columbia introduced him with an insult, he turned the podium over to him and he comes away from it. Ahmadinejad comes away from it saying, ‘Sure there are people there that don’t like me and opposed me and booed me, but hey, there were an awful lot of people there that applauded for me too. So I have some support there.’ And who knows what that results in when you’re dealing—look we have to come to the conclusion that Ahmadinejad is an irrational man. You don’t say the things he says if you’re working on, kind of a rational script. The denial of the Holocaust, the threat of—against Israel, the ways in which he gives five different versions of every single answer. This is a man who’s living in this fantasy world of jihad and world domination by Islamic extremism.â€
HANNITY: “And providing the weaponry to kill American troops.â€
GIULIANI: “And providing weaponry right now, right as we’re speaking possibly taking the lives of American troops. And we hand him a podium at Columbia University. And have no idea of what impact that can have on him? And the idea that it’s in the name of free speech, well that isn’t correct. Not everybody gets to speak at Columbia. …â€

Iran Watch:The Ahmadinejad Show
The above image was originally posted last October. It’s an optical illusion called an “inversion.” If you look at the upside-down version just below, you will see a caricature of Iranian President Ahmadinejad. For more about the image and why came to be, see the original post. I’m reposting it because, with Ahmadinejad speaking at Columbia University, comparisons of Ahmadinejad to Hitler are making the news.
Ahmadinejad Arrives for New York Visit
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, facing protests and tabloid headlines calling him “evil” and a “madman,” stirred debate Monday about free speech ahead of his appearance at Columbia University.
Columbia President Lee Bollinger has promised to grill Ahmadinejad on subjects such as human rights, the Holocaust and Iran’s disputed nuclear program. The Iranian leader previously has called the Holocaust “a myth” and called for Israel to be “wiped off the map.”
Bollinger said Monday it was a question of free speech and academic freedom.
“It’s extremely important to know who the leaders are of countries that are your adversaries. To watch them to see how they think, to see how they reason or do not reason. To see whether they’re fanatical, or to see whether they are sly,” he told ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
Ahmadinejad is to speak and answer questions at a Columbia forum Monday, followed by a scheduled address to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday.
Flap will love the questions from the students and academics. But, will Ahmadinejad allow them?
Ahmadinejad loves to play the Western Media cycle from afar but will he be able to withstand scrutiny of an open forum?
Stay tuned as his appearance at Columbia University begins at 1:30 PM EDT.
Charles Johnson has a list of the various protests here.

Also seen in the picture is media adviser to the president, Mehdi Kalhor, center.
Iran’s leader: U.S. wants new opinions
Right.
And the correct and clear information for the American people is Iranian HEGEMONY over the entire Middle East.
America has already prepared its response.

Iran Watch: Ahmadinejad World Trade Center Flap Part 2
CBS’ 60 minutes has interviewed Iran President Ahamadinejad and Matt Drudge has a partial transcript:
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will not press his plan à just denied by New York City Police for security reasons — to visit Ground Zero in New York City, he tells 60 MINUTES’ Scott Pelley in an exclusive interview conducted today in Iran. The Iranian leader says he’s “amazed” and skeptical that most Americans view his visit there as insulting as his intention was only to show respect. The interview will be broadcast on 60 MINUTES, Sunday Sept. 23 (7:00-8:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS television Network.
An excerpt from the interview follows:
PELLEY: Mr. President, do you intend to press your request to visit the World Trade Center site?
AHMADINEJAD: Well, it was included in my program. If we have the time and the conditions are conducive, I will try to do that.
PELLEY: But the New York Police Department and others do not appear to want you there. Do you intend to go there anyway?
AHMADINEJAD: Well, over there, local officials need to make the necessary coordinations. If they can’t do that, I won’t insist.
PELLEY: Sir, what were you thinking? The World Trade Center site is the most sensitive place in the American heart, and you must have known that visiting there would be insulting to many, many Americans.
AHMADINEJAD: Why should it be insulting?
PELLEY: But the American people, sir, believe that your country is a terrorist nation, exporting terrorism in the world. You must have known that visiting the World Trade Center site would infuriate many Americans.
AHMADINEJAD: Well, I’m amazed. How can you speak for the whole of the American nation?
PELLEY: Well, the American nation–AHMADINEJAD: You are representing a media and you’re a reporter. The American nation is made up of 300 million people. There are different points of view over there.
Ahmadinejad can show respect to Americans by:
1. Stop exporting terror and terrorists abroad to KILL US.
2. Stop sending weapons and military advisors to Iraqi insurgents to kill American soldiers
3. Stop uranium enrichment to develop a nuclear weapon – in order to KILL US.
How about this for starters, Mr. President?

Iran Watch: Ahmadinejad Denied World Trade Center Wreath Request
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, center, smiles as he leaves the parliament after delivering a report of his activities on Iran’s fourth development plan, in Tehran, Iran, Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007. Ahmadinejad on Tuesday shrugged off a French warning of war if Iran develops a nuclear weapon, saying the comments were not to be taken seriously.
Iran’s Ahmadinejad denied Trade Center visit
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been denied a request to visit the World Trade Center site of the September 11 attacks, New York police said on Wednesday.
Ahmadinejad, who regularly accuses the United States of arrogance in his speeches, had asked to visit the site while in New York for the United Nations General Assembly this month.
“The site is closed to visitors because of construction there,” police spokesman Paul Browne said in a statement. “Requests for the Iranian president to visit the immediate area would also be opposed by the NYPD on security grounds.”
Why would New Yoirk City authorities even consider such an outrageous request? Iran is a “state sponsor of terror” and has been shipping war material to Iraqi insurgents for use to kill Americans.
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has it right:
“Under no circumstances should the NYPD or any other American authority assist President Ahmadinejad in visiting Ground Zero. This is a man who has made threats against America and Israel, is harboring Bin Laden’s son and other al-Qaeda leaders, is shipping arms to Iraqi insurgents and is pursuing the development of nuclear weapons. Assisting Ahmadinejad in touring Ground Zero – hallowed ground for all Americans – is outrageous.”
End of story……….
