I think Pelosi and Hoyer have lost their damn mind.
In the meantime, as members of Congress spend time at home during August, they are talking with their constituents about reform. The dialogue between elected representatives and constituents is at the heart of our democracy and plays an integral role in assuring that the legislation we write reflects the genuine needs and concerns of the people we represent.
However, it is now evident that an ugly campaign is underway not merely to misrepresent the health insurance reform legislation, but to disrupt public meetings and prevent members of Congress and constituents from conducting a civil dialogue. These tactics have included hanging in effigy one Democratic member of Congress in Maryland and protesters holding a sign displaying a tombstone with the name of another congressman in Texas, where protesters also shouted “Just say no!” drowning out those who wanted to hold a substantive discussion.
Let the facts be heard
These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades.
I thought dissent was the highest form of patriotism?
Now, if there is criminal behavior or violence that is one thing but heated argument and protest are quite another. If Speaker Pelosi wants to have legislation her way I challenge her to just pass it. She has a large majority of Democrat Party members.
But, this will NOT happen because her fellow Democrats are NOT stupid and wish to be re-elected.
This stifling of dissent and ridiculing of opponents ala Saul Alinsky will not only sink Obamacare but also incumbent Democrat members of Congress.
The Republican National Committee Video on Nancy Pelosi
The Republican National Committee has asserted a copyright claim to remove their Nancy Pelosi – Pussy Galore video from You Tube. As you can see above it has resurfaced for a time at another site.
Flap does not think the video is offensive and the RNC did NOT make a mistake so why the big deal now?
Do these GUTLESS WONDERS just like shooting themselves in the foot?
It is all about the climate change and global warming – whether you like it or not.
In answering a question from a student about how Pelosi was going to get Americans to cut back on their carbon emissions, the leading Democratic lawmaker said it was important to educate children on how to conserve energy and for citizens to build more environmentally friendly homes.
“We have so much room for improvement,” she said. “Every aspect of our lives must be subjected to an inventory … of how we are taking responsibility.”
And, to think most Americans support limited government.

RNC spokesman Trevor Francis confirned the committee had removed the video but declined to explain why.
Republican National Committee video on Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
The Politico has tried to make a big deal of the “below the belt” shot at Nancy Pelosi.
She’s the 69-year-old speaker of the House of Representatives, second in the line of succession and the most powerful woman in U.S. history.
But when you see Nancy Pelosi, the Republican National Committee wants you to think “Pussy Galore.â€
At least that’s the takeaway from a video released by the committee this week – a video that puts Pelosi side-by-side with the aforementioned villainess from the 1964 James Bond film “Goldfinger.â€
The RNC video, which begins with the speaker’s head in the iconic spy-series gun sight, implies that Pelosi has used her feminine wiles to dodge the truth about whether or not she was briefed by the CIA on the use of waterboarding in 2002. While the P-word is never mentioned directly, in one section the speaker appears in a split screen
alongside the Bond nemesis – and the video’s tagline is “Democrats Galore.â€
Flap says BFD.
You think this is sexist?
First off, we can probably question why little Ms. Andie’s editorial is listed in the “news†section of Politico. Secondly, we can then wonder where Ms. Andie was when Her Lord and Savior Obama was (using her metric of OUTRAGE over teh sexism) much less subtle in calling Sarah Palin a pig and flipping the bird to Hillary Clinton.
Two other women friends of Flap “GET IT.”
Well, booh-frickin’-whoo. Where was Politico when the Dems were calling Condoleezza Rice the “house negro“?
No, I don’t think the idea of the video below was to call the Speaker of the House a “pussy,†though the final tagline does allude to the Pussy Galore character, and does indeed imply that Nancy Pelosi is on the wrong side here, having taken on the intelligence community in the aggressive fashion that she did. Ultimately, the video’s implication is the opposite of what we usually mean to communicate with the word “pussy……”
What are they smoking? The President of the United States once made degrading remarks about Hilary Clinton’s menstrual cycles as part of his vicious primary battle against her; if the RNC is comparing Nancy to a femme fatale, that’s pretty small potatoes.
Alas, both AllahPundit and William Jacobson think the RNC shouldn’t have made the ad, since they should have known that it might be “distorted†by the opposite side. What are we permitted to say that cannot be distorted by the opposite side?
Political Cartoon by Michael Ramirez
Do you approve or disapprove of how each of the following has handled the matter of interrogation techniques used against terrorism suspects?
- Barack Obama – 59/29%
- The CIA – 52/31%
- Democrats in Congress – 44/40%
- Republicans in Congress – 40/45%
- Nancy Pelosi – 31/47%
Well, Pelosi is a Liar Liar Pants on fire and Americans know it.
Day By Day by Chris MuirWhat will the LEFT Activists and the left-leaning Democrats do when the New York Times and other MSM outletets who are havens of LEFT spin fail and start going away? One of the largest bastions, the New York Times has enough business capital for what, one or two years?
No more planted stories form the Journolist and George Soros’ Media Matters and all, you know.
No more cover-up and spin of Liar Liar pants on fire Nancy Pelosi on waterboarding, et al.
What a dilemma.
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Md., second from right, gestures during a news conference on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, May 19, 2009. Joining him, from left are, Rep. Xavier Bacerra, D-Calif., Rep. John Larson, D-Conn. and House Majority Whip James Clyburn of South CarolinaA good catch of the nuance of Steny Hoyer defending Nancy Pelosi on CIA enhanced interrrogation techniques, including waterboarding by Jim Geraghty of National Review.
In an effort to help out Nancy Pelosi, the number two Democrat in the House, Steny Hoyer, asserts that CIA Director Leon Panetta doesn’t know what he’s talking about: “As I understand, Mr. Panetta’s notes don’t reflect that. Mr. Panetta was not there and he wasn’t the director. I haven’t seen the notes.”
Hoyer has now effectively doubled down on Pelosi’s claim, arguing that Panetta is lying when he wrote, “our contemporaneous records from September 2002 indicate that CIA officers briefed truthfully on the interrogation of Abu Zubaydah, describing “the enhanced techniques that had been employed.”
Asked by CNSNews.com Tuesday whether he agreed with Pelosi’s more general statement that the CIA misleads Congress all the time, Hoyer said: “You guys want to hang on to this like a laser. I think that’s unfortunate. What the speaker said was she was not specifically advised as to the specific enhanced interrogation techniques that were being utilized. I believe her when she says that. I’m not going to go into every other facet of this that you — I’m not going to go into every facet of this. I made my statement. I think it’s pretty clear. I hope nobody here misinterprets what I just said.â€
So, what the hell does that mean?
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has essentially said that CIA Director Leon Panetta does not know what he is talking about, insists that Speaker Pelosi has a great memory and doesn’t want to committ to the proposition that the CIA misleads us all of the time, as Pelosi maintains.
Typical POL DOUBLESPEAK – but watch him stick the knife in Pelosi’s back, if she appears wounded.
Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D- CaliforniaHouse Speaker Nancy Pelosi is now as popluar as the Congressional GOP and sinking fast.
Nearly half of all Americans — 48 percent — disapprove of how the California Democrat she is handling her job as Speaker of the House in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Monday, while 39 percent approve of her performance.
That rating makes her less popular than other members of her party — congressional Democrats drew a 51 percent approval rating in last month’s CNN/ORC survey — and roughly in line with the congressional GOP, which drew positive ratings in April from just 39 percent of those polled.
That puts her approval rating at roughly the levels Newt Gingrich had in his first year as Speaker of the House. (Back in 1995, Gingrich’s approval rating was 37 percent; by 1997 — at the same point in his speakership that Pelosi is now — that had dropped to just 25 percent.)
The telephone poll of 1,010 Americans was conducted May 14-17, and has a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
Think the Democrats will throw her over the side?
No. The conditions for a coup to throw Pelosi out are not quite right – yet. But, more torture-gate revelations by the CIA may sink her.
