Global War on Terror Watch: Chris Matthews – A Different Perspective?

Dr. Rusty Shackleford has Chris Matthews Jumps the Shark

Chris Matthews has finally jumped the shark. Excuse the metaphor, but Ace dropped the ball on the obvious one this time.

I’ve never understood why so many on the Right hated Matthews so much. Personally, I always liked him much more than, say, Bill O’Reilly. Yeah, I thought, he’s a blowhard, but name some one on Fox, CNN, or MSNBC who isn’t?

I’m beginning to see where that disdain comes from.

    Edmonton Sun:

“The period between 9/11 and Iraq was not a good time for America. There wasn’t a robust discussion of what we were doing,” Matthews said.

“If we stop trying to figure out the other side, we’ve given up. The person on the other side is not evil — they just have a different perspective.”

Damn this revisionist history is infecting all of the LEFTIES.

Iraq War Watch: CNN MARKS CHENEY: NETWORK FLASHES ‘X’ OVER VP’S FACE DURING LIVE SPEECH

Matt Drudge has CNN MARKS CHENEY: NETWORK FLASHES ‘X’ OVER VP’S FACE DURING LIVE SPEECH

At 11:04:45 AM ET Monday CNN was airing Vice President Dick Cheney’s speech live from the American Enterprise Institute in Washington — when a large black ‘X’ repeatedly flashed over the vice president’s face!

The ‘X’ over Cheney’s face appeared each time less than a second, creating an odd subliminal effect.

As this DRUDGE REPORT screen capture reveals, while one ‘X’ flashed over Cheney’s face CNN ran a headline at the bottom of its screen: “CHENEY: I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS WRONG TO CRITICIZE.”

One top White House source expressed concern about what was aired over CNN.

“Is someone in Atlanta trying to tell us something?”

A CNN spokesman did not return repeated calls late Monday night.

Earth to CNN….. what is up?

    Update #1

TV Newser has an explanation from CNN:

Responding to TVNewser’s request for comment this evening, a CNN spokesperson explained: “This was a technolgical malfunction, not an issue of operator error. A portion of the switcher experienced a momentary glitch.”

Iraq War Watch: Murtha – The People Made Me Do IT

U.S. Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., appears during the taping of ‘Meet the Press” Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, at NBC studios in Washington.

The ASSociated Press has Murtha Says Americans Back Iraq Pullout

U.S. Rep. John Murtha, a key Democrat on military issues, on Monday defended his call to pull U.S. troops from Iraq, saying he was reflecting Americans’ sentiment.

“The public turned against this war before I said it,” Murtha said. “The public is emotionally tied into finding a solution to this thing, and that’s what I hope this administration is going to find out.”

Well, the House of Representatives voted 403-3 against a resolution for immediate withdrawl and Hillary Clinton announced today that an immediate withdrawl of troops would be a mistake.

Congressman Murtha, a longtime critic of the Iraq War is WRONG.

Hillary Clinton Watch: Immediate Iraq Exit a Mistake

U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-NY, delivers a speech during a Westchester Women for Hillary breakfast, Monday, Nov. 21, 2005 in Rye Brook, NY.

The ASSociated Press has Clinton: Immediate Iraq Exit a Mistake

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said Monday that an immediate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq would be “a big mistake.”

The New York Democrat said she respects Rep. Jack Murtha, D-Pa., the Vietnam veteran and hawkish ex-Marine who last week called for an immediate troop pullout. But she added: “I think that would cause more problems for us in America.”

“It will matter to us if Iraq totally collapses into civil war, if it becomes a failed state the way
Afghanistan was, where terrorists are free to basically set up camp and launch attacks against us,” she said.

At the same time, Clinton said the Bush administration’s pledge to stay in Iraq “until the job is done” amounts to giving the Iraqis “an open-ended invitation not to take care of themselves.”

So, true to her husband’s modus operandi Hillary blames someone else – this time, the Iraqis for being lazy and not taking care of themselves.

“Until they vote for a government, I don’t know that we will have adequate information about how prepared they are,” she said.

She blamed the problems facing the United States in Iraq on “poor decision-making by the administration,” but added: “My view is we have to work together to fix these problems.”

This translates into “Hillary does not have a different policy than the President”.

National Tax Limitation Committee Watch: Son of Proposition 75

Lew Uhler of the National Tax Limitation Committee

George Skelton, columnist for the Los Angeles Times and Dog Trainer has Anti-Union Activists Hope to Create Son of Prop. 75.

For Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Proposition 75 was akin to Frankenstein’s monster. He created it, could not control it and was ruined by it — at least his “reform” package was destroyed.

The so-called paycheck protection initiative galvanized public employee unions into an all-out war against the governor and his reforms. Unions used it as a smoking gun for their claims that the governor’s real agenda was a partisan power play aimed at weakening his adversaries.

Nevertheless, Prop. 75 did come the closest of any proposition to passing in the special election, losing by seven points.

Now, the nurturer of Prop. 75, longtime anti-tax activist Lewis Uhler, is planning to create another version of the monster for the November 2006 ballot.

Unlike Prop. 75, which would have required public employee unions to obtain annual written permission from members to spend their dues on politics, the reincarnated version will attack unions from a different angle.

It will be modeled after a Utah law called the “voluntary contributions act.” That law forbids public employee unions from spending any dues on politics. All politicking must be funded through a political action committee. And governments are prohibited from collecting PAC money with payroll deductions.

Flap believes under a non-special election that Proposition 75 would have passed.

Uhler’s latest attempt will worry the unions again and make them commit resources.

“I’m not at all convinced that we as taxpayers are responsible for picking up the cost of union political fundraising,” asserts Uhler, president of the National Tax Limitation Committee, which he says has 100,000 dues-paying members.

“What is he smoking?” asks Democratic consultant Gale Kaufman, who coordinated the unions’ victory over Schwarzenegger’s ballot measures. “They’re out of their minds. What’s that about?”

Gale, you know what he is talking about…….making the public employee unions spend millions of dollars to fund a media campaign to defeat proposition 75 fairness initiatives.

    Better start raising dues again………

California Governor 2010 Watch: Sanchez Opens 2010 Committee

The OC Regsiter has Rep. Sanchez ponders move out of House

With a bid for governor in 2010 in mind, the Democratic congresswoman needs heavy fundraising, statewide recognition.

Rep. Loretta Sanchez says she may run for governor – in 2010.

The Democratic political diva of Orange County has created “People for Loretta 2010,” a political committee that allows her to raise money for a governor’s race.

“I think I need to go home and fix my state,” the Santa Ana Democrat said in an interview on Friday. “I’m just keeping my options open. People know I love California. I come home every weekend.”

Despite taking this step, Sanchez isn’t saying she’s definitely going to run.

“It’s a ways off. I’m putting a marker down,” she said. If the Democrats capture the House majority she might decide to stay, she said. Or she might leave government and go back to the private sector.

“I know if I want to run statewide I need to start raising the money now,” Sanchez said. “I’m not a self-funded candidate.”

The 2010 Democrat nominee will be either an incumbent Democrat Governor or Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

But, Sanchez is good at fundraising……
