John Kerry Watch: Ted Kennedy Drops Kerry Presidential Support
Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) (L) shakes hands with AFL-CIO President John Sweeney during a rally on on Capitol Hill in Washington December 8, 2006.
Boston Globe: Kennedy rethinks support for a Kerry presidential run in ’08
Senator Edward M. Kennedy Monday dropped his public commitment to support Senator John F. Kerry in a 2008 presidential race, saying that he won’t wait “indefinitely” for Kerry to declare his intentions while the Democratic primary field takes shape.
Kennedy said he doesn’t currently plan to endorse another candidate and still might support Kerry if Kerry decides to run. But in an hourlong interview with the Globe’s Washington bureau, Kennedy offered strong praise for two of Kerry’s possible presidential rivals: senators Barack Obama of Illinois and Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, calling them “formidable figures” who are connecting with rank-and-file Democrats.
Put a fork in Kerry – HE”S DONE

Iran Watch: Iran Students HECKLE Ahmadinejad in Tehran

AFP: Iran students heckle Ahmadinejad
Iranian students have disrupted a speech by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at a prestigious Tehran university, setting fire to his picture and heckling him.
“Some students chanted radical slogans and inflamed the atmosphere of the meeting” at the Amir Kabir University, said the semi-official Fars news agency on Monday, which is close to Ahmadinejad.
Flap wonders if the Iranian blogosphere is fueling the fire behind these Ahmadinejad protests, especially since he and his government have closed down newspapers and censured the outside country internet.
A student shouts slogans to disrupt a speech by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at Amirkabir university in Tehran December 11, 2006. Dozens of Iranian students burned pictures of President Ahmadinejad and threw firecrackers in an effort to disrupt his speech at a university on Monday, a presidential office spokesman said. It was first time the president, elected in a landslide in June 2005, had faced such open hostility at a public event.

Opponents of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and his supporters, chant, during his speech at the Amir Kabir Technical University, in Tehran, Iran.
“A small number of students shouted ‘death to the dictator’ and smashed cameras of state television but they were confronted by a bigger group of students in the hall chanting: ‘We support Ahmadinejad’,” it said.
It was the latest in a series of student demonstrations in recent days, the first time in least two years that such protests have taken place on this scale at Iranian universities.
Ahmadinejad responded by describing those students chanting the slogans as an “oppressive” minority.
“A small number of people who claim there is oppression are creating oppression and do not let the majority hear (my) words,” he said.
According to the student news agency ISNA, Ahmadinejad responded to the students’ chants of “students can die but they do not accept degradation” by lashing out at the United States.
Of course, lash out at the Great Satan. Death to America stuff plays well for the Mahdi.
And the LIES:
“Today, the worst type of dictatorship in the world is the American dictatorship which has been clothed in human rights,” he said.
“Our students are free and they fight and die but do not accept the foreigners’ missions or bend to them,” he added.
“It is my honour to burn for the sake of the nation’s ideals and defend the system,” Ahmadinejad was quoted as telling protesters who set fire his picture, ISNA said.
“Americans must know that even if Ahmadinejad’s body is burnt a thousand times for this purpose, Ahmadinejad will not retreat even a centimetre from these ideals.”
Is a reform democratic movement DEAD in Iran?
Look for more Iran government censorship and a crack down on those Iranian blogs.
Stay tuned……..

Cox & Forkum Vs. Day By Day
Cox & Forkum: Weblog Awards 2006
Like last year, we are being beaten by Chris Muir’s Day by Day. Fortunately he is a friend as well as a nemesis. We had some fun with Chris’ characters last time round (see here and here). This year we decided to employ some of his T&A tactics, but the results are mixed. In case it isn’t obvious, we grafted the head of Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei onto the body of Day by Day‘s Jan. Kind of an Ayatollah Jan. Or a Bearded Lady. At a minimum, we have the transgender Islamist votes locked up.

Cindy Sheehan Watch: Sheehan Convicted of Trespassing
Police block anti-war activists Cindy Sheehan (L) of the US, whose son Casey was killed during combat in Iraq in April 2004, and Medea Benjamin (R), the founding director of Code Pink, as they try to enter the headquarters of US Forces Korea (USFK) to meet the USFK head in Seoul. A group of US peace activists led by Sheehan staged a protest outside the headquarters base of US troops, urging a halt to the relocation of US military bases in South Korea.
AP: Sheehan among 4 convicted of trespassing
Peace activist Cindy Sheehan and three other women were convicted of trespassing Monday for trying to delivery an anti-Iraq war petition to the U.S. Mission to the United Nations and refusing to leave.
A Manhattan Criminal Court judge sentenced them immediately to conditional discharge, which means they could face some form of penalty if they are arrested in the next six months, and ordered them to pay $95 in court surcharges.
Sheehan and about 100 other members of a group called Global Exchange were rebuffed last March when they attempted to take a petition with some 72,000 signatures to the U.S. Mission’s headquarters across a street from the United Nations.
Prosecutors said they were arrested after ignoring police orders to disperse.
