0 Hillary Clinton Watch: 3 AM Ad Channels McCain?

From the Hillary Clinton campaign: On March 4th, your vote will decide who will be in the White House to pick up the phone when it rings at 3 AM

Hillary Clinton’s latest campaign ad (above) asks an important question but channels a John McCain answer.

“It’s 3:00am and your children are asleep,” a voice over says in the ad. “There’s a phone in the White House, and it’s ringing. Something is happening in the world. Your vote will decide who answers that call.”

“Whether someone knows the world’s leaders, knows the military, someone tested and ready to lead. It’s 3am and your children are safe and asleep. Who do you want answering the phone?” the ad concludes.

Obama can push back all he wants but the ad is RIGHT ON POINT.

The answer is John McCain.

One of the Mohammed cartoons that sparked riots last year throughout the Muslim world

The Wall Street Journal has a piece today (via Michelle Malkin) about the PRICE OF NOTARIETY experienced by Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard.

Kurt Westergaard is in hiding from Islamic militants who want him dead. Now, the Danish cartoonist says he’s ready to part with the source of his travails, a small ink sketch of the Prophet Muhammad with a bomb in his turban. But first there is the ticklish question of price.”I would like to think that it has some value,” says Mr. Westergaard, the 72-year-old creator of one of the world’s most famous cartoons and one that inflamed Muslims world-wide. “It is a symbol of democracy and freedom of expression. I think I should have a little money for this,” he says.

But how do you fix the value of something that auction houses won’t touch, that museums won’t hang on their walls and that still inspires murderous passions?

What a price to pay! Hiding from Islamic militants for the rest of your life.

In the meantime, Denmark is retailiating against Sudan who earlier in the week initiated yet another boycott over the reprinted cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed.

Denmark said Thursday it will oppose any debt relief deal for Sudan in response to the Sudanese president’s comments urging the Muslim world to boycott Danish goods over the publication of a Prophet Muhammad cartoon.Interior Minister Ulla Toernaes said she summoned Sudan’s ambassador to Denmark to demand an explanation of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir’s comments a day earlier.Al-Bashir said Wednesday that he would bar Danes from Sudan and told tens of thousands of people at a government-backed rally in Khartoum that the Muslim world should boycott Denmark because of a cartoon reprinted recently in Danish newspapers.

So, is freedom of expression worth the price? And, who will pay?

Flap always laughs when so called conservative activists pronounce a certain pol NOT CONSERVATIVE because of a certain position on one issue or another. Looking back at Barry Goldwater, William F. Buckley and Ronald Reagan, none of them were in LOCKSTEP agreement on EVERY issue.

Governor Reagan EVEN raised taxes and acquiesced to abortion rights in California.

So, discussions of who is a REAL conservative is foolish. Discussions of how candidates compare and contrast on specific issues is more relevant.

Cartoon by Michael Ramirez

Senator John McCain (the presumptive GOP nominee for President) stepped up his criticism of Senator Barack Obama (the presumptive Democrat nominee for President) regarding the Iraq War.

At a news conference at Hobby Airport in Houston, where McCain was endorsed by former Secretary of State James A. Baker III, McCain opened with a formulation of why he contended Obama is not ready to be commander in chief.

“On the issue of my differences with Senator Obama on Iraq, I want to make it very clear: This is not about decisions that were made in the past,” McCain said. “This is about decisions that a president will have to make about the future in Iraq. And a decision to unilaterally withdraw from Iraq will lead to chaos.”

McCain, the likely Republican nominee for president, was reacting to Obama’s response to a hypothetical question in a debate in Cleveland on Tuesday night, when Obama said that although he intended to withdraw American forces as quickly as possible, he reserved the right to send troops back if Al Qaeda were forming a base in Iraq.

“Al Qaeda is there now,” McCain said in Houston, with a tone of belittlement in his voice. “So to state that somehow if Al Qaeda were there that he would consider going back militarily is really a remarkable comment, and I don’t think displays an understanding of the size of the threat and what’s at stake in Iraq.”

In other words, Obama is NOT ready to be Commander in Chief.

Yet, Obama WOULD bomb Pakistan ( a friend of the USA) to capture bin Laden.

Barry is NOT ready for prime time.

California State Senator Tom McClintock, R- Thousand Oaks

Flap friend and fellow Bear Flag League blogger John Fleishman has more on Tom McClintock’s exploratory race in the Sacramento area CA-4 Congressional District.

McClintock is telling folks that he will be making an announcement early next week. But as you read the e-mail he sent to his supports, which is below, I think that his “formal” announcement will be anti-climactic — McClintock’s already in this race…

E-MAIL FROM TOM MCCLINTOCK

From: Sen. Tom McClintock
To: JonFlash@earthlink.net
Subject: Potential Campaign for Congress

Dear E-Team:

As you may have heard I am seriously considering running for Congress in the 4th Congressional district. While no final decision has been made yet, all initial indications are very favorable. This is a district where Republicans outnumber Democrats by over 17 percent and polling shows me in a very powerful position to win the Republican nomination and take on the Democrat who performed strongly in the 2006 election.

We have opened an exploratory committee to raise the funds necessary to take the initial steps before I am able to commit to this race. Your generous support would allow me to complete the exploratory process expeditiously and would weigh heavily as I prepare to make the final decision.

Federal law limits contributions to $2,300 per person (corporate contributions are prohibited). Contributions may be made securely on our website . Checks may also be sent to:

Flap says go ahead and visit his website and send Tom some coin for his Congressional run. The formal announcement will be next week.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, seen here in January 2008, has declared that Iran is the world’s “number one” power. Ahmadinejad made the statement as he launched a bitter new assault on domestic critics he accused of siding with the enemy.

Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says Iran is the “number one world power.”

“Everybody has understood that Iran is the number one power in the world,” Ahmadinejad said in a speech to families who lost loved ones in the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.

“Today the name of Iran means a firm punch in the teeth of the powerful and it puts them in their place,” he added in the address broadcast live on state television.

Ahmadinejad’s comments come amid renewed Western efforts on the UN Security Council to agree a third package of sanctions against Tehran over its refusal to suspend sensitive nuclear activities.

When the world understands that Iran should NOT possess nuclear weapons because of their “unbalanced” leaders” the safer the world will be.
