Hillary Clinton Watch: Presidential Campaign Slip Sliding Away?

NYT TUESDAY: CLINTON INSIDERS, DONORS FEAR ELECTION ‘SLIPPING AWAY’
    Mon Feb 11 2008 19:00:49 ET

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and her advisers are increasingly concerned that she could be on a “precipitous losing streak” in nomination contests this month that could “endanger her competitiveness in the upcoming votes in Ohio and Texas” on March 4, the NEW YORK TIMES is planning to report on Tuesday, newsroom sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

Reporter Patrick Healy was polishing up a story which details how Clinton’s losses last weekend in Washington, Nebraska, Louisiana and Maine have thrown her campaign “into a state of anxiety not seen since her drubbing in the Iowa caucuses on Jan. 3, with major donors and supporters saying for the first time that they are deeply worried that the Democratic nomination may be slipping from her grasp.”

But, Obama has won mostly small, less populated states that usually vote GOP – in other words Red States. Hillary has won the big Dem states of New York, California and New Jersey.

This campaign will go down to the wire and to the glee of John McCain and the GOP.

John McCain Watch: Reconciliation With Conservatives

Republican presidential hopeful, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., center, accompanied by former Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich, left, and Rep. Wayne Gilchrest, R-Md., speaks at a news conference in Annapolis, Md. Monday, Feb. 11, 2008.

John McCain who has a substantial lead in GOP delegates and who leads by double digits in Maryland and Virginia that hold primary elections tomorrow has begun the reconciliation process with the conservative wing of the Republican Party.

    Look at today’s efforts:

    • Conservative Pro-Life activist and former President of the Family Research Council Gary Bauer endorsed Senator McCain.
    • Conservative former Florida Governor Jeb Bush endorsed McCain.
    • Conservative GOP Strategist Ralph Reed and former executive director of the Christian Coalition offered advice and said he would vote for McCain in November should he win the GOP nomination.

Flap agrees with Ralph Reed that McCain’s speech to CPAC is ONLY the beginning of the reconciliation process and that McCain has much to do in order to win over the conservative base of the GOP.

But, after tomorrow’s Potomac wins McCain will edge closer to the magic number of 1,100 plus delegates required to nail down the nomination. This will give McCain more than six full months prior to the September GOP convention in which to mollify the RIGHT.

Will he throw them a Vice President bone?

    Tooth Loss Statistics By State

Adults aged 65+ who have had all their natural teeth extracted.

Flap has always wondered why his colleagues in other states have reported doing more extractions and complete dentures per dental practice than him.

These graphics offer a partial explanation.

    But, why?

Is it dental IQ, the methods of dental treatment planning, the dentistry performed?

    Probably all of the above.

Orange County California – How They Voted in the Super Tuesday California Primary

John McCain narrowly beat Mitt Romney in Orange County Tuesday. McCain, a Vietnam War POW, won big in Little Saigon. Romney won a handful of precincts, mostly in south county. But Republican voters in most precincts split, giving neither man a majority. The contest was so tight that in 100 precincts both men got between 40 percent and 50 percent of the total GOP vote.

    And, now the Democrats:

    mccainfebruary11bweb

Hillary Rodham Clinton piled up big majorities in almost every precinct north and west of the 55 Freeway. She did particularly well in heavily minority precincts from Santa Ana north to Buena Park. This is the most reliably Democratic part of the county in general elections. Barack Obama did well around Newport Beach and UC Irvine. Clinton won 55.4 percent of the county Democratic vote to Obama’s 37.9 percent and won outright majorities in most precincts.

What is interesting to Flap is that the maps bode well for the GOP in a McCain vs. Obama match up. Will this allow the GOP to put California in play as McCain appeals to Reagan Democrats, independents (the fastest growing California constituency), Asian Americans and Hispanics?

By far, Hillary Clinton would be the strongest Democrat candidate against McCain in Orange County. But, will the Democrats nominate her?

Flap is happy this morning that the Writer’s Guild of America strike is over and television programming can resume.

    Questions:

Will LOST have a full sixteen episode run?

Will NBC – Universal broadcast BattleStar Galactica on NBC rather than SciFi Channel and in High Def?

Will CBS have two Big Brothers this year?
