Video: Sarah Palin Booed at Hockey Puck Drop in Philly

Sarah Palin Flyers Hockey game

US Republican vice presidential nominee, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (center R), is joined by hockey mom Cathy O’Connell (center L), New York Rangers assistant captain Scott Gomez (L) and Philadelphia Flyers captain Mike Richards (R) before dropping the ceremonial first puck at the start of the Rangers versus the Flyers NHL ice hockey game in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, October 11, 2008

The LEFT is yukking it up that Sarah Palin was booed last Saturday night at the Philadelphia Flyers hockey game.

But, REALLY so what.

Here is the video:

Flap is positive that Sarah Palin and Team McCain knew Palin was entering the “LIONS DEN” but Palin went anyway. Everyone knows that the Philly fans are about as classless as they come – I mean they have even booed Santa Claus.

She was invited by the owner of the Philadelphia Flyers who is a big GOP donor and she did not hesitate. Wouldn’t it been worse if she had demurred?

After all, when you are meeting with the world leaders and some ruthless ones at that, would the Vice President be deterred by the off chance of hostile demonstrations?

Nope

But, generally politics and sporting events do not mix.

I’m a philly girl and I have tell you first hand that some of the roughest fans in sports are from Philadelphia. There were people booing the Canadian National Anthem when I was at a playoff game vs the Canadiens. I thought it was disgusting.
As far as Sarah Palin, the commentators in Philly made it known that she was there because of the face she has given to the sport, not for her politics. They were honoring the best hockey mom in Philly that night, as chosen by a panel of celebrity judges. As the most famous hockey mom in the country, she was asked to appear with Philly’s best hockey mom. I didn’t see it so much about politics as about the sport. Whether or not you agree with her politics, she has given more exposure to a sport that desperately needs more fans.
