Iran Nuclear Watch: Are the Latest U.S. Sanctions the Last Stop Before Military Action?
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (R) announces economic sanctions on Iran to pressure it to halt its nuclear program as U.S. Secretary of Treasury Henry Paulson stands next to her at the State Department in Washington October 25, 2007.
Are the latest United States economic sanctions the end of the line for Iran’s nuclear program?
B-2 Stealth Bomber. Citing an “urgent operational need”, the Pentagon has asked Congress for funds to modify B-2 stealth bombers to deliver an experimental 30,000 pound, satellite-guided bunker busting bomb, officials said Wednesday.
Why else was this leaked and why are these B-2’s in Guam?
An $88 million appropriation is nothing and does anyone want to bet one of these Guam visiting B-2’s are already modified? Besides the 30,000 pound “Bunker Buster” bomb can already be delivered by the B-1 or B-52. They are just not “STEALTH” and could be intercepted by Iranian anti-aircraft defenses.
So, what is the United States telling Iran?
What they should have told them over a year ago. Stop the uranium enrichment and the development of nuclear weapons or we will stop it for you.
Stay tuned…….

Iran Nuclear Watch: Cheney Warns Iran as Larijani Resigns
US Vice President Dick Cheney speaks to the Washington Institute for Near East Policy annual Weinberg Founders Conference in Lansdowne, Virginia. Cheney said the United States and its allies would not permit Iran to get nuclear weapons and warned of “serious consequences” if it continues to enrich uranium.
Cheney: US will not let Iran go nuclear
The United States and other nations will not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon, Vice President Dick Cheney said Sunday.
“Our country, and the entire international community, cannot stand by as a terror-supporting state fulfills its grandest ambitions,” Cheney said in a speech to the Washington Institute for Near East Studies.
He said Iran’s efforts to pursue technology that would allow them to build a nuclear weapon are obvious and that “the regime continues to practice delay and deceit in an obvious effort to buy time.”
If Iran continues on its current course, Cheney said the U.S. and other nations are prepared to take action. The vice president made no specific reference to military action.
“We will not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon,” he said.
Previously, Iran played its hand by the resignation of its nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani.
Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani speaks with journalists at a news conference in Tehran in this September 12, 2007 file photo. Larijani, who quit as Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator, and his replacement will go to talks with the European Union’s Javier Solana to try to defuse a row with the West, the Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.
Iran’s nuclear negotiator resigns
Iran’s chief negotiator with the West over Tehran’s nuclear programme, Ali Larijani, has resigned.
A government spokesman said Mr Larijani had repeatedly offered his resignation and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had finally accepted it.
Mr Larijani had differences with the president over how to proceed with the negotiations, correspondents say.
The spokesman, Gholam Hossein Elham, said a deputy foreign minister, Saeed Jalili, would replace Mr Larijani in time for a meeting on Tuesday with the European Union’s foreign policy head Javier Solana.
The BBC’s Jon Leyne, in Tehran, says Mr Larijani has had differences with President Ahmadinejad over how to proceed with negotiations over the country’s nuclear programme.
Obviously there was a difference as to proceed with Iran’s nuclear negotiations with the European Union and the United Nations over uranium enrichment. Also, obvious is that Iran’s Mullahs prefer confrontation rather then negotiations. But, this is NO great news.
The new nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, is a hard line supporter of President Ahmadinejad and Supreme Mullah leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran’s deputy foreign minister Saeed Jalili attends a meeting in Tehran, February 2007. Iran insisted its policy in the nuclear crisis with the West would not change after the sudden resignation of chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani, amid fears it would take an even tougher line.
So, was Larijani’s resignation a result of the refusal of Vladimir Putin’s latest offer?
Probably, or it could have been the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Iran and the Mullahs do NOT want to negotiate. They COVET nuclear weapons and will do anything to posses one.
Vice President Cheney again restates American policy that Iran will not obtain nuclear weapon capability.
But, will President Bush “PUSH” the issue or allow Iran to continue to stall?
Stay tuned…….

Iran Nuclear Watch: Putin Brokering a “DEAL”?
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, left, shakes hands with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice prior to their meeting at Olmert’s Jerusalem residence, Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007.
Olmert to discuss Iran with Putin
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert flew to Moscow on Thursday in a surprise visit to discuss Iran’s nuclear program with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who just returned from talks with Iranian leaders in Tehran.
The two leaders also were expected to discuss an arms deal that Russia is to sign with Syria, and Russia’s role in Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking efforts.
Olmert’s one-day visit was announced only after Putin had returned from Iran, where he vowed Tuesday to support Iran’s pursuit of nuclear energy and warned “outside forces” — hinting at the United States — against using force against Tehran.
World leaders are experts of saying one thing and meaning another.
Is something other than what seems going on here?
Perhaps
President Bush said Wednesday that he wanted to get a readout directly from Putin about his visit to Iran and issued a stark warning that a nuclear-armed Iran could trigger World War III.
While in Tehran, Putin made an unspecified proposal concerning Iran’s nuclear program to the country’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported. Officials close to hardliners within Iran’s ruling Islamic establishment said they believed the proposal involved a “timeout” on sanctions if Iran suspends uranium enrichment.
The Iran nuclear crisis is coming to a head.
Are Putin’s bellicose statements regarding the United States a “SMOKESCREEN” for an Iranian capitulation? Or a prelude to War?
Stay tuned……..
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (L) and Russian President Vladimir Putin shake hands upon Putin’s arrival in Tehran. Putin backed Iran’s right to nuclear energy and argued against military action, during the first visit to the country by a Kremlin chief since World War II.

Iran Nuclear Watch: Russia’s Putin Visits Iran
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (L) and Russian President Vladimir Putin shake hands upon Putin’s arrival in Tehran. Putin backed Iran’s right to nuclear energy and argued against military action, during the first visit to the country by a Kremlin chief since World War II.
Putin Visits Iran, Sends Warnings to US
Russian leader Vladimir Putin met his Iranian counterpart Tuesday and implicitly warned the U.S. not to use a former Soviet republic to stage an attack on Iran. He also said nations shouldn’t pursue oil pipeline projects in the area if they weren’t backed by regional powers.
At a summit of the five nations that border the inland Caspian Sea, Putin said none of the nations’ territory should be used by any outside countries for use of military force against any nation in the region. It was a clear reference to long-standing rumors that the U.S. was planning to use Azerbaijan, a former Soviet republic, as a staging ground for any possible military action against Iran.
“We are saying that no Caspian nation should offer its territory to third powers for use of force or military aggression against any Caspian state,” Putin said.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also underlined the need to keep outsiders away from the Caspian.
No surprise that Putin is snuggling up to Ahmadinejad and the Iranian Mullahs. Putin wants control and to recreate the Soviet empire of the Cold War era. Iran wants an oil-exporting partner with military hardware to exert hegemony over the Middle East.
So, what should the United States do?- Pursue Missile defense, increase operational capability
- Kick Russia out of the G-8, making the association the G-7
- Increase defense spending, particularly for the Navy. Build more ships and submarines.
- Increase economic and political sanctions on Iran outside the United Nations
Just to name a few……..

Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran Sanctions Delayed AGAIN
World powers delay Iran sanctions action
The world’s major powers agreed on Friday to delay a vote on tougher sanctions on Iran until late November at the earliest, depending on reports by the U.N. nuclear watchdog and a European Union negotiator.
The outcome was a temporary setback for the United States and France, which had sought swifter action to step up economic and political pressure on the Islamic Republic over its refusal to halt uranium enrichment, which the West suspects is aimed at developing nuclear arms.
More delay and obfuscation.
Face it folks. Russia, China and Germany have too many trade ties to Iran to vote harsh economic sanctions.
Flap continues to wonder why President Bush is waiting?

Iran Nuclear Watch: Nuclear Issue Closed
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addresses the 62nd session of the United Nations General Assembly at the United Nations Headquarters, Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007.
Iran leader says nuclear issue closed
Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared Tuesday that Iran’s disputed nuclear program is closed as a political issue and said Tehran will ignore a U.N. Security Council demand imposed by “arrogant powers” to curb its nuclear program.
Instead, he told world leaders at the U.N. General Assembly that Iran has decided to pursue the monitoring of its nuclear program “through its appropriate legal path,” the International Atomic Energy Agency, which is the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency.
When Ahmadinejad was ushered to the podium, the U.S. delegation walked out, leaving only a low-ranking note-taker to listen to his speech, which indirectly accused the United States and Israel of major human rights violations. State Department spokesman Gonzalo Gallegos said the U.S. wanted “to send him a powerful message.”
The Iranian president spoke shortly before German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned the diplomats of “disastrous consequences” for Israel and the world if Iran acquires a nuclear bomb. “The world does not have to prove to Iran that Iran is building a nuclear bomb. Iran has to convince the world that it is not striving towards such a bomb.”
The nuclear issue IS closed for the United States and Israel.
Next, will come European Union-American harsh economic and travel sanctions. When the sanctions fail within six months or so, the United States Navy will blockade the Iranian import of gasoline.
Of course, Israel may become impatient and bomb Natanz and other Iran nuclear facilities straight away.

Iran Nuclear Watch: Sarkozy – Nuclear Iran Could Lead to WAR
France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy addresses the 62nd United Nations General Assembly at the U.N. headquarters in New York, September 25, 2007.
Sarkozy says letting Iran go nuclear could cause war
Allowing Iran to acquire nuclear weapons could destabilize the world and lead to war, French President Nicolas Sarkozy told the United Nations on Tuesday.
In his maiden speech to the U.N. General Assembly, Sarkozy said: “There will be no peace in the world if the international community falters in the face of nuclear arms proliferation.”
Iran was entitled to nuclear power for civilian purposes, he said, “but if we allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, we would incur an unacceptable risk to stability in the region and in the world”.
In a broader warning against the dangers of appeasement, the new French leader said: “Weakness and renunciation do not lead to peace. They lead to war.”
Iran insists its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, but the West suspects the Islamic Republic of enriching uranium to develop a nuclear weapons capability.
Underlining French support for tougher sanctions against Tehran, sought by the United States but opposed by Russia and China, Sarkozy said: “We can only resolve this crisis by combining firmness with dialogue.”
Well, DUH.
France is finally “GETTING IT.”
And where would Iran’s nuclear tipped missiles be first aimed? Why at France and the rest of Europe.
The United States has defensive missile capability and a nuclear arsenal that would create ASH out of Iran if the United States were attacked.
China and Russia have cut side deals for Iranian oil and are supplying Iran with advanced military technology.
Where does this leave Europe should Iran develop nuclear weapon technology and capability?
Exactly
In the sights of nuclear blackmail and/or terrorist nuclear attack.
The French President, unlike Jacques Chirac, his predecessor, understands the Islamofascist propensity for deceit and then control. He has seen it first hand in France.
Watch for one last push for United Nations sanctions, then America-EU sanctions and then the inevitable bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Iran Watch: Ahmadinejad – We Don’t Have Homosexuals
Iran’s president: ‘We don’t have homosexuals’
Columbia University President Lee Bollinger excoriated Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday, going through a long list of documented actions and remarks by the firebrand Iranian leader and his government.
“Mr. President, you exhibit all the signs of a petty and cruel dictator,” Bollinger said to applause from many of the 600 people in the room for a speech from the Iranian leader. …
Asked about widely documented government abuse of women and homosexuals in his country, Ahmadinejad said, “We don’t have homosexuals” in Iran. “I don’t know who told you we had it,” he said.
Sharia Law says NO homosexuality and Mahmoud is the grand enforcer of Sharia Law in Iran – hence the denial.

From Gay Republic News: Interview with Iranian Gay Couple.
Q: What is the problem of an Iranian homosexual?Kaveh: The first is that we cannot discuss any of our problems. We have a problem with the government due to our sexual orientation; the Islamic government does not accept us and we are condemned to hanging and stoning. In comparison the rest of the problems are minor.
Mere Rhetoric has graphic photos of how the Islamic regime treats homosexuals.
Now, does anyone understand why this Islamic terrorist dictator should NOT have been invited to spread his BS at Columbia University?

Rudy Giuliani on Iran President Ahmadinejad’s appearance today at Columbia University:
SEAN HANNITY: “You had as Mayor of New York a number of confrontations with some of these leaders and now we have this controversy at Columbia today with Mahmud Ahmadinejad and the invitation by Columbia. Your thoughts?â€
MAYOR GIULIANI: “My thoughts are he should never have been invited in the first place. I think this is a distinguished lecture series, what it suggests is you make a selection right? But thousands of people conceivably would want to speak at Columbia, they only pick a certain number, and it would seem to me you don’t pick somebody who is the biggest—the head of the government that’s the biggest sponsor of state terrorism in the world, a government that is by every indication that we have presently engaged in activities that are resulting in the death of American troops., someone who has threatened the existence of the state of Israel, denied the Holocaust. I heard some of his answers on the Holocaust, of course they were absurd. The idea that it needs further research. I think the fact of the Holocaust has been pretty darn well established, doesn’t need further research. This is just part of his constant refrain of anti-Semitism, threats on Israel, threats on the United States. … Doing this, giving him this kind of status–even though the President of Columbia introduced him with an insult, he just responded with an insult–I believe this may underscore some of their fantasies that they really do have a world stage and that they really should be taken seriously and maybe they can fool us and maybe they can fool a certain number of us. So I think this is a damaging thing doing something like this with someone as deranged as Ahmadinejad is. You have no idea what you’re playing with here. So why would you invite him to a distinguished lecture series?â€
HANNITY: “While Bollinger in his introduction said his views were ridiculous, the Holocaust is not an issue in dispute, that his arguments were absurd.â€
GIULIANI: “But then he turned the podium over to him.â€
HANNITY: “Well then he turned the podium over to him and I’ll tell you what was more frightening to me, immediately thereafter, here was Ahmadinejad basically saying he found the introduction insulting but more importantly I want you to listen to the students’ reactions and clapping for Ahmadinejad in the background. … Does that student reaction frighten you as much as it does me?â€
GIULIANI: “Well here’s—this is really to my point, Sean. It frightens me because I don’t know what kind of reaction Ahmadinejad has to that, which means he comes away from this thinking, hey there’s a strong level of support for me in the United States of America, maybe I can push these people a little further, maybe I can take advantage of them a little bit more. That’s why I say in spite of the fact that the president of Columbia introduced him with an insult, he turned the podium over to him and he comes away from it. Ahmadinejad comes away from it saying, ‘Sure there are people there that don’t like me and opposed me and booed me, but hey, there were an awful lot of people there that applauded for me too. So I have some support there.’ And who knows what that results in when you’re dealing—look we have to come to the conclusion that Ahmadinejad is an irrational man. You don’t say the things he says if you’re working on, kind of a rational script. The denial of the Holocaust, the threat of—against Israel, the ways in which he gives five different versions of every single answer. This is a man who’s living in this fantasy world of jihad and world domination by Islamic extremism.â€
HANNITY: “And providing the weaponry to kill American troops.â€
GIULIANI: “And providing weaponry right now, right as we’re speaking possibly taking the lives of American troops. And we hand him a podium at Columbia University. And have no idea of what impact that can have on him? And the idea that it’s in the name of free speech, well that isn’t correct. Not everybody gets to speak at Columbia. …â€
