Shocker: Sexy Television News Anchors Distract Male Viewers

Elita Loresca from KNBC Los Angeles

    Well, this is understandable, no?

Scholars, critics and viewers have noted that some TV newscasts can be momentarily mistaken for Victoria’s Secret specials. In an apparent attempt to capture channel-surfing male viewers, stations have hired attractive female anchors, often outfitting them in attire that emphasizes their sexuality.

This strategy may boost the ratings, but in terms of the programs’ purported purpose — informing the public — recent research suggests it has a definite down side. Males may be drawn to those alluring anchors, but they may not remember what they were talking about.

But, then again, sometimes who cares?

Yeah, I know, another cheap attempt to boost traffic by posting photos of Elita Loresca.

Video: It’s Over Man: Keith Olbermann’s Final MSNBC Sign-Off

Keith Olbermann announced on the air tonight that “Countdown” will not return to MSNBC thus making this evening’s broadcast his final one. This is his last sign-off with thanks to his entire staff and a dramatic reading.

And, NBC has released the following statement via press release.

“MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract. The last broadcast of “Countdown with Keith Olbermann” will be this evening. MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC’s success and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Looks to me like Comcast, the new owners on NBC and MSNBC, might be trying to clean up the Left-leaning sewer which is known in the cable television business as MSNBC.

Oh and Keith – don’t let the door hit you in the ass when you leave 30 Rock, ok?

Arizona Sheriff Clarence Dupnik Blames Rush Limbaugh for Tucson Shooting Massacre

Unhinged and Far Left Democrat – what a shocker.

The Arizona sheriff investigating the Tucson shooting that left U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords critically wounded had harsh words today for those engaging in political rhetoric, calling conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh “irresponsible” for continuing the vitriol.

“The kind of rhetoric that flows from people like Rush Limbaugh, in my judgment he is irresponsible, uses partial information, sometimes wrong information,” Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said today. “[Limbaugh] attacks people, angers them against government, angers them against elected officials and that kind of behavior in my opinion is not without consequences.”

Limbaugh today railed against the media and Dupnik for trying to draw a link between the heated political climate and the shooting rampage, calling the sheriff a “fool.” But Dupnik stood by his assertions.

“The vitriol affects the [unstable] personality that we are talking about,” he said. “You can say, ‘Oh no, it doesn’t,’ but my opinion is that it does.”

Investigators have yet to determine what motivated 22-year-old Jared Lee Loughner, described by some as appearing to be mentally unstable, to allegedly open fire on the crowd outside the Tucson Safeway.

However, so far there is no evidence that he has any ties to any political group.

I agree with Rush that Sheriff Dupnik is a fool and so do otherseven from the LEFT.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s Divorce is Now Final

In this July 2007 video LA. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa Admits Affair with Mirthala Salinas and denies she is pregnant

Well, it took a few years and Mayor Villaraigosa is now free to marry his current girlfriend, KTLA Reporter Lu Parker.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s marriage to Corina Villaraigosa is officially dissolved, a court spokesman said Wednesday.

Villaraigosa’s wife, Corina Villaraigosa, filed for divorce in June 2007, citing “irreconcilable differences.” She made the move to end their 20-year marriage after Villaraigosa publicly accepted responsibility for their separation, saying he felt a “personal sense of failure.”

Remember the summer of love scandal in 2007 when it was discovered that Villaraigosa had an ongoing affiar with Telemundo reporter Mirthala Salinas.

Now, he can move on and most probably end up running for California Governor in 4-8 years or the U.S. Senate when Dianne Feinstein retires.

The Limbaugh Rule to Supplant the Buckley Rule?

    Graphic from Rush Limbaugh

I guess we will see with the coming general election in Delaware if the Rush Limbaugh Rule works.

And, the total votes for the control of the United States Senate.

    There are caveats
and frankly I don’t see how the Republican Party wins here – in any case.

I find Rush’s argument in favor of the Limbaugh Rule lacking on its own terms as well as in terms of the prudence one should ordinarily apply to matters of practical politics. Among other things, the Limbaugh Rule does not take account of the advantages of majority status in the Senate. Rush’s formulation of the Limbaugh Rule nevertheless clarifies the issues of judgment that have divided conservatives in Delaware and elsewhere this primary season.

But, in a couple of months the votes will be counted.

Day By Day June 17, 2010 – You Can’t Get Good Help These Days

Day By Day by Chris Muir

The political agendas of MSNBC and NBC in general have suddenly turned sour when George W. Bush left office. Their candidate, Barack Obama is NOT doing so well and their viewership stats demonstrate their decline.

My guess is that without CNN abysmal production, MSNBC would fade away as number three in cable news.

For now, Fox News will just be the ONLY game in town – well, in DC anyway.

Day By Day March 30, 2010 – Bite Me

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Apple Computer can advertise where and when it wants. This is private enterprise.

More than 200 companies have joined a boycott of Beck’s program, making it difficult for Fox to sell ads. The time has instead been sold to smaller firms offering such products as Kaopectate, Carbonite, 1-800-PetMeds and Goldline International. A handful of advertisers, such as Apple, have abandoned Fox altogether. Network executives say they believe they could charge higher rates if the host were more widely acceptable to advertisers.

However, Fox News and Glenn Beck in particular have a following and should a competitor arrive to rival Apple’s products (particularly thinking the new i-Pad) that competitor may very well pick up this business. It is not politics or political ideology – it is business.

Day By Day by Chris Muir October 15, 2009 – Taking Heat

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Chris, talk about taking heat – how about Rush Limbaugh and his attempt to be a NFL Owner/Investor.

John Hinderaker over at Powerline has a powerful sum up of the FLAP, including a CNN graphic which is a blatant lie.

It’s official: Rush Limbaugh has withdrawn as a minority participant in a group that is trying to buy the St. Louis Rams. This follows opposition to Rush’s participation from Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and, shamefully, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Such opposition, in turn, was fueled by false claims that Limbaugh has made various racist statements in the past.

The most ridiculous of the statements falsely attributed to Rush was this one:

Slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.

Anyone who has ever listened to Limbaugh would immediately recognize this as a hoax; in fact, it was made up out of whole cloth by a little-known left-wing blogger. But it was reported as fact by news outlets that didn’t bother to verify their facts. CNN was especially blameworthy in this regard; it vouched for the blogger-fabrication:

    Here is the graphic:

Suddenly, Flap has LESS desire to watch the “politically correct” NFL and especially NBC’s Sunday night football with LEFTY Keith Olbermann as a commentator. This demonization and outright slander/libel of Rush Limbaugh is the last straw.

    College football is political enough.

    So long NFL.

Los Angeles Mayor Tony Villaraigosa Bows Out of Race for California Governor

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa gestures during an interview Monday, June 22, 2009, at City Hall in downtown Los Angeles. Villaraigosa announced his decision Monday not to run for governor of California in 2010, because he wants to finish his job as mayor

Not really a shock and Mayor Tony knows he cannot beat California Attorney General and former California Governor Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown in a contested Democrat Primary anyway.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced on national television today that he would not be running for California governor in 2010 after flirting with a bid for higher office for months.

“I can’t leave this city in the middle of a crisis,” Villaraigosa said. Noting that Los Angeles is grappling with a $530-million deficit, a 12.5% unemployment rate and more than 20,000 people who have lost their homes over the last two years, the mayor said: “I feel compelled to complete what I started out to do.”

Elected to a second, four-year term in March, the mayor broke the news to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on “The Situation Room,” saying he wanted to devote his full attention to Los Angeles.

The former state assembly speaker said he had been making up his mind “for a long time” and that the state’s challenges had made the decision an “agonizing” one.  Villaraigosa called the situation in Sacramento “an abomination,” but hinted at the political risks of announcing a statewide run so soon after being reelected to a second term. “I was elected mayor and reelected by the people of this city. They’ve given me the honor for a second term, and I feel compelled to complete the promise that I made to them. I’m going to dream, and I want the people to dream with me,” he said.

Villaraigosa’s decision adds a dash of clarity to the race for the 2010 Democratic gubernatorial nomination which, at the moment, appears will be between state Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown and San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom. Brown has yet to say if he will run, while Newsom already has announced his candidacy.

In a personal note, Villaraigosa said the demands of the campaign trail would have kept him apart from his 16-year-old daughter, whom he called the “apple of my eye.” “She’s got two more years of high school and then she’s gone, and I don’t want to be campaigning for a year, and then leading the state in Sacramento and my little precious is, you know, finishing up her high school education.”

Pundits will say Mayor Tony pulled out because of his self-inflicted summer of love affair with Mirthala Salinas or even his latest fling with television news anchor Lu Parker but it is really the candidacy of Jerry Brown that gives him pause.

Mayor Tony will now simply wait until after Brown loses to Meg Whitman or Steve Poizner and then run for Governor at a later time or for Dianne Feinstein’s United States Senate seat when she retires.

But, Villaraigosa will be judged on his second term
as Mayor of Los Angeles and he had better do a better job.
