Saddam Hussein went on trial Wednesday for a massacre of his fellow Iraqis, turning immediately argumentative and challenging the legitimacy of the court trying him two years after his capture for the killings of 150 Shiites.
When the trial began, the 68-year-old ousted Iraqi leader — looking thin with a salt-and-pepper beard in a dark gray suit and open-collared white shirt — stood and asked the presiding judge: “Who are you? I want to know who you are.”
“I preserve my constitutional rights as the president of
Iraq,” Saddam said. “I do not recognize the body that has authorized you and I don’t recognize this aggression. What is based on injustice is unjust … I do not respond to this so-called court, with all due respect.”The presiding judge, Rizgar Mohammed Amin, a Kurd, tried to get Saddam to formally identify himself, but Saddam refused. After several moments, he sat down.

Dentistry Today: Body Snatching for Replacement Bone
The New York Daily News has Body snatchers of New York, How ghouls have been stealing parts from corpses in city funeral homes.
A ghoulish ring trafficking in bones, tissue and other body parts illicitly harvested from corpses at funeral homes throughout the city is under investigation by the Brooklyn district attorney’s office, the Daily News has learned.
The enterprise potentially raked in millons of dollars selling tendons and ligaments for surgical replacement and bone for dental implants and orthopedic reconstruction procedures, sources familiar with the investigation said.
Big Bucks for Body Parts, including jaws and bone for grafting.
CNN Money has Body snatchers tied to allograft firms? Alleged New York-area ring investigated for selling parts to corpse tissue harvesters.
First, it is corpses, then aborted fetuses and then finally harvested humans.
Will cloning for parts and stem cells be too far in the future?

O.J. Simpson Watch: Autograph Day

A decade after he was acquitted of killing his ex-wife and her friend, O.J. Simpson was back in Los Angeles autographing sports memorabilia for people attending a horror movie convention.
Simpson said Friday it felt “strange” to be signing autographs in such a venue. He said it did not occur to him that the date nearly coincided with the 10th anniversary of his Oct. 3, 1995, acquittal on charges of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.
“I don’t keep these dates in my head,” he told The Associated Press while signing various items with the inscription “O.J. Simpson ’68 Heisman,” a reference to the year he won college football’s Heisman Trophy.
He said the only anniversary he observes is when he and his children mark their mother’s birthday with a cake.
Sick.
Simpson will be appearing through Sunday at the convention and Al Cowlings will be appearing Sunday.

After making our way up the steps of the church Armed Liberal and Flap were immediately confronted with socialism at it finest(?) – the literature dissemination table by sponsored groups or kindred spirits. But……
They were selling materials.
The Democrats were NOT there but……
The Peace and Freedom folks were.
Galloway, of course, needs to fund his vacation home(s) so he was selling his book and stayed around after his speech to sign them (Flap did not wait around to get his autographed copy).
We made our way to seats in mid-central church pew and waited.
Armed Liberal was live blogging with his Treo until a call came……and he had to go.
So, Flap waited alone for the warm-up speakers and the main event.

Flap previously had George Galloway Watch: Coming to Los Angeles – REMINDER AND DETAILS.
It was the afternoon of Thursday, September 22nd, and after numerous phone calls, e-mails, flakey bloggers and friends, Flap heads off to Los Angeles to see George Galloway on his USA book tour (ending tonight in Washington D.C with the Cindy Sheehan appearing anti-Iraq War peace march).

Flap is late ( a relative is unexpectedly and unfortuately admitted to a San Fernando Valley hospital) for the leaflet distribution organized by the Armed Liberal but thanks to Sprint arrives (with a fortuitous on the street parking spot) shortly after 6:30 PM.
The Armed Liberal, friend and leaflets (which AL has decided not to distribute prior to the speech) await Flap on the Immanuel Presbyterian church entrance steps.
The Armed Liberal and friend avoiding the Socialist Worker’s folks who were selling their “FREE” newspaper.
Flap thought that someone else would pay for my copy of the Socialist Worker rag but CAPITALISM lives – at least on the streets of LA.
The AL has purchased a ticket for Flap and we are set to enter the church.
