Illegal Immigration Watch: The United States Senate Judiciary Committee Takes Up the Debate
United Farm Workers members and their supporters rally Sunday, March 26, 2006, in downtown Los Angeles, to mark the birthday of the late Cesar Chavez, the union’s founder, and to call for enactment of a federal law that would give temporary legal status to many illegal agricultural workers.
ASSociated Press: Guest Worker Issue Tops Immigration Debate
The Senate tackles the hot-button election issue of what to do with the nation’s estimated 11 million illegal immigrants this week, with President Bush coming down on the side of letting many of them stay if they have jobs.
Bush planned to use a naturalization ceremony for swearing in 30 new citizens Monday to press his call for a “guest worker” program. The Senate Judiciary Committee, meanwhile, faced a midnight deadline for completing a bill.
Let the debate begin.
There are many politically painful issues to decide and this debate will be carried forward to the 2008 Presidential election.
However, for today, Flap handicaps the Senate Judiciary Committee will be unable to reach a filibuster-proof consensus and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist will call up a bill tomorrow dealing with border security, employer sanctions and increasing the number of visas.
The debate in the United States Senate today will be the prelude to the 2008 Presidential race.
Senators to watch – John McCain and Hilary Clinton.
Stay tuned…..

Illegal Immigration Watch: 500,000 Rally to Protest Immigration Bills
Thousands Protest HR 4437 in Los Angeles. City Hall in background.
Los Angeles Times: 500,000 Pack Streets to Protest Immigration Bills
A crowd estimated by police at more than 500,000 boisterously marched in Los Angeles on Saturday to protest federal legislation that would crack down on undocumented immigrants, penalize those who help them and build a security wall along the U.S.’ southern border.
Spirited but peaceful marchers — ordinary immigrants alongside labor, religious and civil rights groups — stretched more than 20 blocks along Spring Street, Broadway and Main Street to City Hall, tooting kazoos, waving American flags and chanting, “Sà se puede!” (Yes we can!).
Well, irrespective of HR 4437 which the President opposes and would probably veto and the fact that it is dead on delivery in the United States Senate for what are the folks in Los Angeles rallying?
ANSWER: OPEN BORDERS
For decades federal immigration laws have been ignored i.e. there has been minimal enforcement. As most Californians know the California-Mexico border is porous as a sieve. Millions of illegal immigrants have flooded California and other western states like Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico.
Flap is a native born California and has lived over fifty years here in the Los Angeles area. Flap has seen a transformation of southern California Many areas of Los Angeles and Orange Counties are now third world Latin American slums. This is Reconquista?
Here is how it works:
Immigrants illegally cross the Mexico- California border to find work – usually in agriculture but sometimes in menial service jobs. They are paid less than minimum wage by unscrupulous American employers. But the immigrants pay no income taxes and receive no social security benefits. However, when the wives/partners of the male illegal imigrants fall pregnant the babies thus born receive free government sponsored health care and other social welfare service benefits because they are American citizens – although his/her parent is in this country illegally.
These newly born American citizens of illegal alien parents then get free public schooling, welfare, free medical and dental care since they qulaify for social welfare programs. Remember their parents pay NO income taxes and are not on the tax rolls for medicate or social security taxes. Now, mind you the parents cannot receive any social welfare benefits but their American citizen children do. And how many hundreds of millions of dollars has the Los Angeles Unified School District spent in building new schools for these American citizen children? The Los Angeles Unified Schoold District by the way is 74 per cent Latino.
This is just one example of how the system is “worked” by the illegal alien community. There are other ways including the manufacture of false documents which entitle the parents for work permits and benefits.
After each family gains a foothold in the United States they then send their money home and more immigrants flood across the border. Now we have an estimate of over 11 million people here illegally and they are migrating to the Midwest, South and East regions of the United States.
SOLUTIONS:
So, what should the federal government do?
1. Secure the California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas borders with Mexico. Build walls if necessary. Use technology, but stop the indescriminate flow of illegal border crossings.
2. Sanction employers for hiring illegal immigrant workers. Fine them heavy and jail the CEO’s that allow the massive importation of cheap labor from Mexico. Allow guest workers but give them six years and they have to leave. They must register for a guest worker permit, pay federal and state taxes, social security and medicare like everyone else. These taxes will reimburse the goevernment for any services the workers receive while here. Employers must also be charged to reimburse the states for the medical, social welfare and education costs of their guest workers.
3. Change the Constitution to make it that children born of “guest workers” are not automatically granted America citizenship. Also, children of illegal immigrants shall not be granted automatic American citizenship.
4. Allow illegal immigrants already here to apply for a track toward American citizenship. They must register, be of good moral character, wait a number of years, be fluent in English and take the citizenship test – like everyone else.
But, will the Congress pass such common sense laws?
Don’t count on it!
And what will the protesters do?
Hope they create enough of a stink that the current open border policy of the United States is not changed. Then, in a few generations when all of their American born children can vote and they become the majority of voters – then have their representatives cede California back to Mexico – “Reconquista.”
Because in all reality California WILL BE MEXICO!
Stay tuned…….

Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran Gearing Up for Uranium Enrichment
KEY STEP: Iran’s Uranium Conversion Facility in Isfahan reprocesses uranium ore concentrate, known as yellowcake, into uranium hexaflouride gas. The gas is then taken to another site at Natanz and fed into the centrifuges for enrichment.
Los Angeles Times: Iran’s Nuclear Steps Quicken, Diplomats Say
Tehran reportedly is gearing up for uranium enrichment. A split in the Security Council may impede efforts to halt the program.
With efforts to halt its nuclear program at an impasse, Iran is moving faster than expected and is just days from making the first steps toward enriching uranium, said diplomats who have been briefed on the program.
If engineers encounter no major technical problems, Iran could manufacture enough highly enriched uranium to build a bomb within three years, much more quickly than the common estimate of five to 10 years, the diplomats said.
Flap knows Iran is further along than this three year estimate. In fact, since intelligence has been so poor, Iran may be very close to manufacturing a nuclear weapon. Who knows how much enriched uranium they may have purchased on the black market?
Iran has been quick to stall and obfuscate. Naturally, there is a rationale for these tactics.
Iran insists that it is interested only in producing electricity, which requires low-grade enrichment of uranium.
New information about Iran’s program came from diplomats representing countries on the United Nations Security Council. They were briefed by senior staff of the International Atomic Energy Agency, which maintains monitors in Iran. The diplomats spoke on condition of anonymity because the briefing was private.
Even as Iran apparently moves forward, diplomatic efforts to persuade it to halt its nuclear work appeared to be faltering in the face of distrust among powerful Security Council members and disagreements over the best strategy.
Diplomatic efforts are worthless. Look at the machinations at the United Nations Security Council last week.
When the Point of No Return is reached the United States and Israel wll take the appropriate military action and physically destroy Iran’s nuclear program.

Illegal Immigration Watch: Democrat Senate Minority Leader Threatens Filibuster of Illegal Immigration Bill
Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., walks along the U.S.-Mexico border fence as he arrives for a news conference at the San Ysidro Port of Entry in San Diego, Wednesday, March, 22, 2006. Reid was scheduled to speak to tout Democratic proposals for border security.
ASSociated Press: Reid Threatens Filibuster on Immigration
As the Senate prepares to tackle the most sweeping immigration reforms in years, a top Democrat vowed Wednesday to do everything in his power, including filibuster, to thwart Majority Leader Bill Frist’s proposed overhaul.
Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said he would “use every procedural means at my disposal” to prevent Frist from bypassing the Judiciary Committee. Frist, R-Tenn., has made clear the Senate will take up his proposal next week if the 18-member committee fails to complete a broader bill.
The Quote:
“If Leader Frist brings a bill to the floor that does not have the approval of the Judiciary Committee, it will not get out of the Senate,” Reid told reporters at the San Ysidro border crossing, a few steps from Tijuana, Mexico.
These immigration issues have been festering for years. The country is due a full debate and a decision.
The United States also demands enforcement of exisitng laws.
Senator Frist should break the logjam and call up the bill.
MAKE the whining Democrat LEFT vote on the issue.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Watch: This is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s MESS Now
Like Flap said the first time!
LA Weekly New West Notes: Arnold Makes The Reiner Mess His Own
Hugh Hewitt: Arnold’s Reiner Anchor
Unforced errors in politics are the worst sort. Standing by a friend is admirable, but not when that friend has chaired a commission that spent $23 million on ads that clearly supported the friend’s political campaign to expand the public schools bureaucracy and raise taxes via initiative.
Arnold’s refusal to replace Reiner with a serious medical professional will be a slow bleed, and unlike Arnold’s other gestures of reconciliation with the center-left and left, this is the sort of very public blow off of conservatives and good government types that makes his November re-elect much more problematic.
California voters will NOT stand for this.
They will simply vote the Governator out of office.

New Mexico Democrat Party Calls for President George W. Bush’s Impeachment
New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, speaks to Democrats at a St. Patrick’s Day breakfast in Manchester, N.H., Sunday, March 19, 2006.
ASSociated Press: New Mexico Democrats call for Bush impeachment
The New Mexico Democratic Party is calling for President Bush’s removal from office.
Party Chairman John Wertheim said Tuesday that delegates to Saturday’s state party convention supported a call for the president’s impeachment largely because of “perceived abuses of power and corruption in the Bush administration.”
He listed as examples of abuses of power, warrantless wiretapping of U.S. citizens, the misstatement of facts preceding the invasion of Iraq, and the scandal surrounding the indictment of Vice President Dick Cheney’s former top aide in connection with the leak of the identity of a covert CIA operative.
And what does New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, New Mexico Attorney General, Patricia Madrid, and United States Senator Jeff Bingaman say? Will they run on this platfrom created by these New Mexico Democrat NUTTERS who crafted this missive?
DUH…..NO!
Albuquerque Tribune: Top Dems wary on Bush vote
But two prominent state Democrats – Attorney General Patricia Madrid and U.S. Sen. Jeff Bingaman – have distanced themselves from last weekend’s vote in Albuquerque.
Madrid, trying to oust Rep. Heather Wilson, an Albuquerque Republican, said in a statement Tuesday she wasn’t present when the vote was taken at a party convention Saturday. She called the action “premature.”
“I hope I get the chance to go to Congress to participate in a full investigation of the underlying issues,” she said.
Bingaman also says it’s too early to support sanctions against Bush for the wiretapping issue, said his spokeswoman, Jude McCartin. Bingaman was in Afghanistan Saturday and in Baghdad on Tuesday.
Flap knows Democrat Governor Bill Richardson was out of town, too. Well, at least that is what his office said about Richardson’s boxer and partying friend.
Come on elected New Mexico Democrats stand by your party!
