Illegal Immigration Watch: President Bush SELLS OUT on Immigration Reform
SOS Graphic from Michelle Malkin
Washington Times: Bush, senators agree on alien citizenship, shut out critics
President Bush and a group of senators yesterday reached general agreement on an immigration bill that includes a pathway to citizenship for many illegal aliens.
But left out of the closed-door White House meeting were senators who oppose a path to citizenship. The meeting even snubbed two men who had been considered allies of Mr. Bush on immigration — Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Republican and chairman of the immigration subcommittee, and Sen. Jon Kyl, Arizona Republican.
Mr. Bush in brief remarks to the press said there was agreement to get “a bill that does not grant automatic amnesty to people, but a bill that says, somebody who is working here on a legal basis has the right to get in line to become a citizen.” But senators, speaking afterward, said Mr. Bush was far more specific in the meeting.
“There was a pretty good consensus that what we have put into the Hagel-Martinez proposal here is the right way to go,” said Sen. Mel Martinez, Florida Republican. “I think he was very clear [on] pathway to citizenship, so long as it goes to the back of the line, and he even opened the door here for something we’ve haggled back and forth on, that you can shrink the time for people to become citizens by simply enlarging the number of green cards.”
And Sen. Sam Brownback, Kansas Republican, said Mr. Bush “endorsed the concept of an earned citizenship.”
That would represent a substantial change on the part of the Bush administration, which just last year said it opposed a path to citizenship for those currently here illegally.
NO WAY!
The President was wrong on Harriet Miers and he is wrong on this illegal immigration amnesty plan.
Contact the White House and tell them Mexico Border Security FIRST and NO ILLEGAL ALIEN AMNESTY.
If GOP Republicans have to FILIBUSTER this bill – so be it!
No Bill is better than this bill.
Michelle Malkin:A WHITE HOUSE BETRAYAL
Oh, yes, the bipartisan open-borders collaborators are thrilled:
***
Who will clean up the mess at DHS?
If you loved the fraud that resulted after the 1986 mass amnesty, wait ’til you see what’s coming next.
Captain Ed: Not Invited To The Party
Cornyn’s office downplayed the snub, saying that any message about an end to partisan bickering and blocking votes had to be meant for the Minority Leader and didn’t require the Texan’s presence. Still, one has to wonder why two staunch allies of the President got ignored for this key meeting. It appears that the White House wants to build consensus through ignoring those who have a different perspective on immigration and pretending that they don’t exist.
Another issue that apparently doesn’t exist is border security. While everyone at this meeting kept their concern focused on people who entered the country illegally, none of them addressed the issue of ensuring that the illegals entries get stopped. Instead, the words “Hagel-Martinez” slid off of the lips of attendees as smoothly as one might say “Simpson-Mazzoli”.
The Bush administration is about to go squishy on a national-security issue, and unlike the overblown Dubai ports deal, this one actually has real security implications for the US. It is a national disgrace that more than four years after 9/11, we still have not credibly secured our southern border. During a war in which our enemy moves primarily by stealth and attacks exclusively through individual or small-group terrorist actions, allowing the unfettered movement of people on the vast scale we see presents a clear danger to our nation. Instead of focusing on that, the President has aligned himself with Democrats and the handful of Republicans who put political correctness (and political expediency) ahead of their Constitutional duties.
The last time we saw this kind of alliance, Washington passed the BCRA into law.
Cornyn and Kyl need our help to get this administration focused on real border security before worrying about earned citizenship. I could accept the latter as a reasonable compromise as long as we have established the former first. That’s the broad consensus that Americans have in regards to immigration reform, not the warmed-over rehash of a failed policy from twenty years ago.
Will GOP Senators in an election year have the COJONES to take on the President?
Senator Allen?
Senator Frist?
Stay tuned…..

Iran Nuclear Watch Briefing: April 26, 2006 Morning
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed that Iran will ignore any UN Security Council demands to halt its disputed nuclear programme.
AFP: Iran to ignore Security Council demands to halt nuclear drive
Iran will ignore any UN Security Council demands to halt its disputed nuclear programme, hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed.
“We won’t back down one iota on our lawful and inalienable rights,” the president was quoted as saying by the official news agency IRNA.
“If international institutions respect our legitimate rights, we will respect their decisions. However, we will not regard these decisions as valid if they are intended to deny us our rights,” he said.
“We hope they will fulfil their duty lawfully so that the Islamic republic will not need to reconsider its relations with them.”
According to Ahmadinejad, the dispute served as a “trial for international bodies to prove whether they are defending the rights of nations or whether they are acting as puppets in the hands of some bullying powers”.
The rest of the world, he added, must “accept Iran as a nuclear country, which is an undeniable fact.”
“The few countries opposed to us … want to make us give concessions through psychological warfare and propaganda,” he was quoted as saying.
The Sunday London Times: Iran’s president recruits terror masterÂ
Plot for revenge attacks on WestÂ
IRAN’S president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, attended a meeting in Syria earlier this year with one of the world’s most wanted terrorists, according to intelligence experts and a former national security official in Washington.
US officials and Israel intelligence sources believe Imad Mugniyeh, the Lebanese commander of Hezbollah’s overseas operations, has taken charge of plotting Iran’s retaliation against western targets should President George W Bush order a strike on Iranian nuclear sites.
Mugniyeh is on the FBI’s “Most Wanted Terrorists†list for his role in a series of high-profile attacks against the West, including the 1985 hijacking of a TWA jet and murder of one of its passengers, a US navy diver.
Now in his mid-forties, Mugniyeh is reported to have travelled with Ahmadinejad in January this year from Tehran to Damascus, where the Iranian president met leaders of Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad and Hamas.
The meeting has been dubbed a “terror summit†because of the presence of so many groups behind attacks on Israel, which Ahmadinejad has threatened to wipe from the map.
Jane’s Intelligence Review cited “reports in recent weeks†of Mugniyeh’s presence alongside the president.
Head of head of Iran ‘s nuclear energy program Gholamreza Aghazadeh speaks to journalists in Bushehr, Iran in this February 26, 2006 file photo. He headed to 11th-hour talks at the International Atomic Energy Agency on April 26 but the move looked too late to decisively alter an imminent IAEA report to the U.N. Security Council .
AFP: Last-ditch talks between Iran and UN nuclear agency
The head of Iran’s nuclear agency, Vice President Gholam Reza Aghazadeh, was to hold last-ditch talks with the UN nuclear watchdog, two days before a UN deadline for Tehran to suspend uranium enrichment.
However hardline Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reiterated in Tehran earlier Wednesday that Iran would ignore any UN Security Council demands to halt its disputed nuclear program.
“We won’t back down one iota on our lawful and inalienable rights,” the president was quoted as saying by the official news agency IRNA.
The Security Council set on March 29 a non-binding, 30-day deadline for Iran to honor the watchdog.
ASSociated Press: Iranian Leader Warns U.S. Against Attack
Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Wednesday that if the United States attacks Iran, U.S. interests around the world would be harmed, state-run Tehran television reported.
Speaking to laborers on the occasion of the International Laborers Day, Khamenei said U.S. officials have been using threatening language against Iran for the past 27 years, but the Iranian nation and officials do not care about the threats.
“The Iranian nation and its officials are peace-seekers and the Islamic republic would not invade anybody,” the television quoted Khamenei as saying.
But he added: “The Americans should know that if they invade Iran, their interests around the world would be harmed. Iran will respond double-fold to any attack.”
More BLOVIATIONS from the Mullahs and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad but SO WHAT! Iran will not willingly abandon their quest for nuclear weapons and the United States/Israel WILL deny them.
Look for a NEGATIVE IAEA report being leaked later today.
Stay tuned…….

Representative Cynthia McKinney Watch: More Aides Subpoenaed in McKinney Case
Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-Ga., shows her Georgia identification as she qualifies to run for re-election at the Capitol in Atlanta, Monday, April 24, 2006 in Atlanta.
ASSociated Press: More Aides Subpoenaed in McKinney CaseMore House aides have been served with subpoenas to testify in the grand jury investigation of an incident last month where Rep. Cynthia McKinney hit a Capitol Police officer.
Staffers from four congressional offices, in statements read on the House floor Tuesday, announced they would comply with subpoenas issued by the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
The offices of Reps. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., and Barbara Lee, D-Calif., confirmed that the subpoenas were related to the March 29 incident where McKinney, a Georgia Democrat, entered a Capitol building unrecognized by the officer on duty and then hit him when he tried to stop her.
Those receiving the subpoenas are thought to have been witnesses to the altercation.
Damn, it has taken a long time to adjudicate this matter. What is brain surgery here?
Representative McKinney assaulted the officer – the case is open and shut.
The other two subpoenas went to aides to Reps. Lois Capps, D-Calif., and Donald Payne, D-N.J. Capps’ office would not comment on the purpose of the subpoena and there was no immediate response from Payne’s office.
Subpoenas were previously issued for aides to Reps. Sam Farr, D- Calif., and Thaddeus McCotter, R-Mich. Troy Phillips, senior legislative assistant to Farr, witnessed the incident and testified about it before the grand jury on April 18, Farr’s press secretary, Jessica Schafer, said Tuesday.
The officer involved in the incident, Paul McKenna, testified before the grand jury within the past week, the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call said Tuesday. McKenna has said he asked McKinney three times to stop. After she refused, the officer reportedly placed a hand on her and she hit him.
Principal Assistant U.S. Attorney Channing Phillips said no action was taken Tuesday on whether to charge the congresswoman.
Charge the DUMBASS and move on……
And re-election?

CIA Leak Case Watch: Mary McCarthy – A Blog Primer
Hot Air (by AllahPundit): CIA Leak: A Blog Primer
This is one of those stories where, if you miss the first 48 hours, you end up feeling so far behind the curve that you tune it out and never bother with it again. So here’s a round-up of news and blog coverage which, while longish, will bring you up to speed. As of this writing, McCarthy “categorically denies†being the leaker, according to former counterterrorism official/Kerry campaign staffer Rand Beers. So the jury’s still out – although government sources are telling Newsweek to fret not, for the leaker is most definitely she.

Iran Nuclear Watch: Rice – United States Worries that Iran Will Share Nuclear Technology
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, right, and her Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul look toward cameras as she arrives for a meeting in Ankara, Turkey, Tuesday, April 25, 2006.
ASSociated Press: Rice Worries Iran Would Share Technology
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Tuesday the United States is concerned over Iranian threats to share the nuclear technology it is developing with other countries.
Appearing at a news conference here, Rice said Bush administration officials “have to be concerned when there are statements from Iran that Iran would not only like to have this technology but would share it, share technology and expertise.”
She was reacting to a statement from Iran’s supreme leader that Tehran was prepared to transfer its nuclear technology to other countries.
“That’s one of the fears, that there would be that kind of escape, if you will, of technology and expertise,” Rice said.
Earlier Tuesday, Iranian’s top leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said as he met with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir that “Iran’s nuclear capability is one example of various scientific capabilities in the country. … The Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to transfer the experience, knowledge and technology of its scientists.”
Of course, Iran will share their technology, their enriched uranium and anything else that the Mullahs want to export in the name of Allah.
If the world wants nuclear proliferation then allow Iran to proceed with their nuclear program. Every Islamic country bowing down to the great Iran will have their terrorists strapping radioactive vests on their suicide bombers.

Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran Threatens to Hide Its Nuclear Program
Iran‘s top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, left, who is also Iran‘s Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, and former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, talk, during a conference on Iran‘s nuclear program in Tehran, Iran, Tuesday, April 25, 2006. Larijani said Tuesday that Iran will withdraw from all cooperation with the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency if the U.N. Security Council imposes sanctions against it. Rafsanjani, speaking at the same conference, claimed that Iran had openly launched its nuclear program _ which Iran insists is for peaceful energy purposes only _ ‘but the behavior of western countries forced it to carry out its nuclear program independently, based on local expertise and knowledge without relying on western countries.’
ASSociated Press: Iran Threatens to Hide Its Nuclear Program
Iran’s top nuclear negotiator said Tuesday that Tehran would halt all cooperation with the U.N. nuclear watchdog if the Security Council imposes sanctions against it, and warned it might go further and hide its nuclear program if the West takes any other “harsh measures.”
The statements by Ali Larijani were Iran’s strongest statement of defiance yet before a Friday deadline the Security Council has given the country to stop all uranium enrichment. They came a day after Iran’s president boldly predicted the Security Council would not impose sanctions on Tehran and warned he was thinking about dropping out of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.
“Military action against Iran will not end our program,” Larijani said Tuesday, speaking at a conference on the energy program. “If you take harsh measures, we will hide this program. If you use the language of force, you should not expect us to act transparently.”
More BLUSTER from Iran because they fear the IAEA Report to the United Nations Security Council due Friday will be NEGATIVE. And it will be.
But, there should be NO SURPRISE. Iran will NOT voluntarily end their uranium enrichment program.
Iran’s top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani, who is also Iran’s Sercretary of Supreme National Security Council, shows evidence of Iran’s agreement with France on Iran’s nuclear activities before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, at a conference in Tehran, Iran, Tuesday, April 25, 2006. Larijani said Tuesday that Iran will withdraw from all cooperation with the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency if the U.N. Security Council imposes sanctions against it.
He also said flatly that Iran would not abide by the Friday deadline to suspend uranium enrichment.
“If you take the first step wrong, the wrong trend will continue. We welcome any logical proposal to resolve the issue. They just need to say why should we suspend,” Larijani said.
And Iran’s nuclear program has ALREADY been clandestine but…….
Iran’s former President, Hashemi Rafsanjani, speaking at the same conference, claimed that Iran openly launched its nuclear program — which it insists is for peaceful energy purposes only — “but the behavior of Western countries forced it to carry out its nuclear program independently, based on local expertise and knowledge without relying on Western countries.”
In the meantime, Israel is not sleeping……
Meanwhile, an Israeli defense official said Israel was launching a satellite to spy on Iran’s program, as Iran’s leader persisted with his calls for the Jewish state’s destruction.
Israel planned to launch from Siberia later Tuesday its Eros B satellite, designed to spot images on the ground as small as 27 inches, the defense official said. That level of resolution would allow Israel to gather information on Iran’s nuclear program and its long-range missiles, which are capable of striking Israel, he said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive subject matter.
The United States will await the negative IAEA report and then force a Chapter 7 resolution vote in the United Nations Security Council.
Stay tuned……
