Update: CA-26 Video: Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks Issues Two Challenges

Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks announced her candidacy for Congress last Saturday at Freedom Park in Camarillo, California

Go ahead, watch the video above and listen to the two challenges that Linda Parks gives to her challengers and the voting public.

I say good luck with that, when traditionally races for Congress have been very partisan and very expensive affairs.

A race for a highly contested Congressional District is NOT a local City Council or County Supervisor which are NON-Partisan and mainly low key races.

It is interesting that Parks who is a registered Republican, but is unclear whether she will run as one as designated on the June 2012 primary ballot, did not mention her opponents – all six of them (Democrats and Republicans a like).

By the way, when Parks beat former California Assemblywoman Audra Strickland (wife of California State Senator Tony Strickland, who has already announced for CA-26) in her 2010 re-election race for Supervisor, I received quite a few mail pieces in my mailbox and somebody paid for those. Parks knows how to campaign and will raise and spend campaign cash like the rest of the POLS.

Has anyone seen Ventura County Supervisor Steve Bennett lately? It has been rumored that he will withdraw from the race and support Parks at the behest of Ventura County Public employee unions.

    Update:

    Steve Bennett is now reporting
$240K in political contributions and a California Democratic Party Pre-Endorsement Conference win.

With Republican Tony Strickland reporting over $300K in contributions on his first day, this is not a good sign for Linda Parks. Also, it shows that the rumor Bennett would get out of the race, maybe just a rumor.

President 2012 GOP Florida Poll Watch: Gingrich 38% Vs. Romney 33% Vs. Santorum 13% Vs. Paul 10%

Newt Gingrich campaigning today in Florida

According to the latest PPP Poll.

PPP’s first post-South Carolina poll in Florida finds Newt Gingrich with a small lead.  He’s at 38% to 33% for Mitt Romney, 13% for Rick Santorum, and 10% for Ron Paul.

Gingrich has gained 12 points since a PPP poll conducted in Florida a week ago. Romney has dropped 8 points. Paul and Santorum have pretty much remained in place. Their favorability numbers show similar trendlines. Gingrich’s has increased 8 points from +15 (51/36) to +23 (57/34). Meanwhile Romney’s has declined 13 points from +44 (68/24) to +31 (61/30).

This is the third poll today that has Newt Gingrich besting Mitt Romney in Florida.

    What a come back!

President 2012 GOP Florida Intrade Watch: Gingrich 61.4% Vs. Romney 38.1%

According to the latest bets placed by the Intrade folks.

But, wow an almost 2 to 1 percentage for Gingrich.

And, the Rasmussen Florida GOP Poll is also out with Gingrich up by 9 points.

Less than two weeks ago,  Mitt Romney had a 22-point lead in Florida, but that’s ancient history in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. Following his big win in South Carolina on Saturday, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich now is on top in Florida by nine.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Florida Republican Primary Voters, taken Sunday evening, finds Gingrich earning 41% of the vote with Romney in second at 32%. Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum runs third with 11%, while Texas Congressman Ron Paul attracts support from eight percent (8%)

The South Carolina win by Gingrich was huge.

Can Romney stage a comeback beginning with tonight’s debate?

President 2012 GOP Florida Poll Watch: Newt Gingrich Now Leading Mitt Romney

According to the latest InsiderAdvantage/Majority Opinion Research Poll.

Fresh off his victory in Saturday’s South Carolina primary, a new poll shows Newt Gingrich surging into the lead in the next Republican battleground, Florida.

An InsiderAdvantage poll released late Sunday shows the former House speaker leading his main rival former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in the Sunshine state with 34 percent support from likely GOP voters to Romney’s 26 percent.

Rep. Ron Paul (Texas) receives 13 percent support for third place in the poll, followed by former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum with 11 percent.

From the early morning e-mail and posts around the internet, it looks like Romney is going to attack Newt Ginrich.

    Probably a bad move.

Romney is viewed by many as being out of touch and that he does NOT represent anything.

Watch the debate tonight. It may be make or break for Romney tonight.

Stay tuned for a Rasmussen Poll which will be out shortly.

Day By Day January 22, 2012 – Campaign in Toto

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Chris, we saw the power of the internet on the resurgence of Newt Gingrich in South Carolina. The thumping of Mitt Romney was not driven by the GOP Establishment with paid television or direct mail advertising – but by the “live” events = the television debates and the interconnection of the RIGHT on the internet.

This will be the same as the GOP Presidential nomination race moves to Florida today.

Watch Mitt Romney to attempt to buy a narrative on the MSM political sites and the cable networks, including Fox News. The one at the moment is that Newt Gingrich is a “disgrace.”

I don’t think this tactic will work since the narrative for Romney is already engrained in the internet driven GOP base. Romney = out of touch with average American voters.

  • Newt Gingrich,  President 2012

President 2012: Newt Gingrich for President

I am going out on a limb and today endorsing former House Speaker Newt Gingrich for the Republican Presidential nomination.

Newt was not my first choice or even my second for the GOP nod, but now, as Sarah Palin says, it is a time for choosing and I am choosing Newt Gingrich.

As you readers know, I have never been a fan of Mitt Romney. I was not a supporter of his in 2008 and found his campaign tactics then, as they are now, reprehensible.

Romney is NOT a conservative, out of touch with most americans and a nominal Republican = RINO (Republican in Name Only). He is a big government, flip-flopping, progressive pseudo-conservative. But, this endorsement is not why I am NOT supporting Mitt Romney.

This endorsement is, why, in my judgment, Newt Gingrich is a candidate for whom I will be voting for in the California June Primary election.

    So, why?

I believe, Newt, would fight for conservatives, the conservative movement and people like me from the White House. He would represent me, my children and soon to be born grandchildren. Newt cares about the future.

Gingrich has a vision for American and generates BIG ideas. God knows, we need both.

Yeah, Gingrich has some personal baggage, been wrong on some issues and some foibles. Don’t we all? I mean, after all, look at President Obama, his background in Hawaii and his dysfunctional family.

The question is: who in the Republican field could I see occupying the White House, leading America back to the “shining city on the hill”, while limiting the role of government in American’s lives?

    The answer is Newt Gingrich.
