California Proposition 8 Aftermath: Mormon El Coyote Restaurant Manager Quits

    El Coyote Cafe protest

    Remember the Flap.

Well, Marjorie Christiffersen has resigned her positon as a manager of the restaurant and from the restaurant’s board of directors (via M/M).

As of Saturday evening, Marjorie Christoffersen was no longer employed at El Coyote, Frontiers magazine reported Monday on its website. Bill Schoeppner, a fellow manager at El Coyote, told Frontiers that Christoffersen tendered her resignation that night. Christoffersen, described on the El Coyote website as the “matriarch” of the 77-year-old restaurant, will also be resigning from the restaurant’s board of directors.

The trouble began last month when local bloggers uncovered Christoffersen’s donation. Christoffersen is a Mormon. A November 12 press conference intended to defuse the anger of the restaurant’s gay clientele backfired when Christoffersen refused to apologize for the donation and said she would not financially support efforts to repeal Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in California. It’s been reported that gay and lesbian business at the Mexican eatery has dropped precipitously since then.

“Everybody is kind of used to her walking around the restaurant with a water pitcher going from table to table to table,” Schoeppner told Frontiers about Christofferson. “I guess that part is no longer going to exist.”

Hope the gay marriage bullies are happy. They drove away a woman who gave a pawltry $100 to the Yes on 8 campaign and rather than renounce her true feelings on gay marriage quit her association with a restaurant that has been in her family for generations.

Flap has speculated that the family will sell the restaurant that is located just south of the West Hollywood (homosexual area) of Los Angeles. and which employees a majority of staff that are homosexual.

Maybe they can find a gay owner who will take it off the family’s bigoted hands?

Sarah Palin Watch: Pakistan and Gotcha Journalism

Katie Couric interviews Governor Sarah Palin and Senator John McCain

Sarah Palin is more relaxed in this interview with Katie Couric and Flap believes more herself. But, she appears somewhat tentative (is she nervous or afraid to make a mistake?) and looks to McCain for approval of some of her statements. McCain really needs to let her go.

Allah mentions that there are some interview missteps that are in the can and ready to hit later in the week. My God, are we running for Vice President or the Messiah (sorry that one is taken)? CBS should release the whole interview unedited now and let the viewers decide.

If Governor Palin cannot answer a question or is afraid to express an opinion then she shouldn’t be elected Vice President. However, if you are quizzing her with the intent to purposely cross her up, then what the hell kind of journalism is that?

Oh, Flap knows. The left-wing AGENDA dominated MSM.

McCain to Suspend Presidential Campaign and Return to Washington to Deal With Economic Crisis – Makes Offer to Obama; Update: Barack Obama Says Friday Debate Continues

    +++++Update+++++

Barack Obama says the Presidential debates should go on as planned.

    mccainsuspends

John McCain is announcing the suspension of his Presidential campaign, return to Washington, D.C., resume his duties in the United States Senate and deal with economic bailout proposals.

    The statement:

MCCAIN: America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen.

Last Friday, I laid out my proposal and I have since discussed my priorities and concerns with the bill the Administration has put forward. Senator Obama has expressed his priorities and concerns. This morning, I met with a group of economic advisers to talk about the proposal on the table and the steps that we should take going forward.I have also spoken with members of Congress to hear their perspective.

It has become clear that no consensus has developed to support the Administration’ proposal. I do not believe that the plan on the table will pass as it currently stands, and we are running out of time.

Tomorrow morning, I will suspend my campaign and return to Washington after speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative. I have spoken to Senator Obama and informed him of my decision and have asked him to join me.

I am calling on the President to convene a meeting with the leadership from both houses of Congress, including Senator Obama and myself. It is time for both parties to come together to solve this problem.

We must meet as Americans, not as Democrats or Republicans, and we must meet until this crisis is resolved.I am directing my campaign to work with the Obama campaign and the commission on presidential debates to delay Friday night’s debate until we have taken action to address this crisis.

I am confident that before the markets open on Monday we can achieve consensus on legislation that will stabilize our financial markets, protect taxpayers and homeowners, and earn the confidence of the American people. All we must do to achieve this is temporarily set politics aside, and I am committed to doing so.

Following September 11th, our national leaders came together at a time of crisis. We must show that kind of patriotism now. Americans across our country lament the fact that partisan divisions in Washington have prevented us from addressing our national challenges. Now is our chance to come together to prove that Washington is once again capable of leading this country.

Shocker: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Contribute ALOT to Democrats

Special Report with Brit Hume summarizes the economic financial institution meltdown

    What a shock!

The federal government recently announced that it will come to the rescue of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, two embattled mortgage buyers that for years have pursued a lobbying strategy to get lawmakers on their side. Both companies have poured money into lobbying and campaign contributions to federal candidates, parties and committees as a general tactic, but they’ve also directed those contributions strategically.

Barack Obama is the third largest recipient of campaign contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

    recipient2

As the Congress considers a $700 BILLION bailout, follow the money. Here is an updated chart with Barack Obama now second in receipts. Where is John McCain? Uhhhhh not there.

    recipient3

Does anyone think the MSM will pick up on the connection? How about Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson?

    Doubtful……

John McCain Watch: Steve Schmidt Goes “Nuclear” on New York Times – The Light Bulb Goes On

McCain Campaign Manager Steve Schmidt On New York Times Bias

The Epiphany for the McCain campaign: The New York Times is a left-wing RAG.

Flap first mentioned the beginning of the light bulb going on this morning.

Now, the epiphany spreads to the left-wing writer of the Politico, Ben Smith who is also “in the tank”.

Maybe Team McCain will kick their LEFTY asses off their press plane and grant interviews to those media outlets who are fair and balanced. Cut off their exclusive press releases too.

And, to Steve Schmidt: don’t answer Marc Ambinder’s, Ben Smith’s or Jonathan Martin’s phone calls.

    Flap will love the whining.

Sarah Palin Watch: Democrats Release Governor Palin’s Social Security Number and Home Addresses

    sarahpalinandnationalguardbills

Governor Sarah Palin prepares to sign two bills into law – SB 214 and HB 326 – which will benefit Alaska Guard members.

The Politico has the OPPOSITION RESEARCH file and it is here (pdf file warning).

And Erick Erickson has perused the file and discovered among other things that the Democrats have revealed Governor Palins social security number (less the last four digits), telephone numbers and her various home and business addresses. Flap directs you to page 60 of the file. It now appears that the complete social security number has been redacted.

But, when? Apparently after Politico received the file and a complaint was raised.

In the file, the Democrats have released Sarah Palin’s social security number minus the last four digits. Also tied to the information are her various home addresses.

Back in 2005, Democrats used Michael Steele’s social security number to get his credit record.

It is atrocious that the Democrats would not only seek out Sarah Palin’s social security number, but release it in opposition research to the press.

We need to know who did this. We also need to know what happened. We also need to know if it was used to bolster the Democrats’ opposition research.

When it happened to Michael Steele, it turns out the Democrats knew about it and did nothing.

The Democrats are a REAL CLASS act.

Is this not a social security privacy act violation and against federal or Alaska state law?

And, what in the hell are they doing with Sarah Palin’s social security number in the first place? There should and will be an investigation.

    Tony Strickland Watch: “Unthinkable”

Tony Strickland’s second television ad: “Unthinkable”
Tony Strickland who is running for California State Senate, District 19, is “on air” with his second television ad of his campaign. Entitled “Unthinkable” the ad seeks to remind us that our economy is threatened by our dependence on foreign oil. Moreover, Strickland seeks to highlight some of the truly incredible technologies that were themselves unthinkable only five years ago and that may in fact lead the transition to a renewable economy that will create new, high paying jobs.

    The Script:

    “Unthinkable”

    $5 gas?

    Unthinkable just a decade ago.

As California transitions to a renewable, more energy efficient economy, innovation and technology will lead the way.

Solar foil, ocean waves, even energy from algae.

    I’m Tony Strickland.

Renewable energy will create better jobs, lower energy prices and improve our environment, freeing us from our dependence on foreign oil.

Renewable energy….it’s good for the economy and it’s good for California.

    I’m Tony Strickland.

As you know Flap is supporting Republican Tony Strickland for the California State Senate.

Tony Strickland’s Facebook page is here.

Strickland’s California State Senate website is here.

And, while you are thinking about, go here and send Tony a few bucks to finance his media campaign.

John McCain Watch: Pro-Choice Vice President?

    giulianiseptember27rweb

Maria Comella, Deputy Communications Director of Rudy Giuliani for President on the right and Rudy Giuliani in Santa Barbara, California September 27, 2007. Photo By Flap

Rich Lowry over at National Review says that Team McCain has been calling key state Republican officials and sounding them out about the consequences of a pro-choice Vice President pick.

Most pundits have been focusing on former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge and Independent/former Democrat Senator Joe Lieberman.

But, remember last week when it was announced that Maria Comella was joining Team McCain’s Vice President operation. And, for whom did Comella immediately work?

Pro-Choice, former New York Mayor and Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani.

    Could it be Rudy?

Flap thinks it would be a reach but certainly Rudy would be a more forceful and an attack-dog type Vice Presidential candidate. And, nobody from National Review is panning him – even now.

Rudy Giuliani would be a good choice for Vice President and with all of the John Edwards sex, mistress, love child scandal Rudy’s personal baggage might be more ancient history. And, should Obama choose the racist remarking, plagiarizing Joe Biden as Vice President…..

But, Flap thinks McCain will play it safe with Tim Pawlenty, the Governor of Minnesota.

    Update:

Kathryn Jean Lopez has picked up on It’s Rudy.

I don’t think it’s being floated for Liebermann or Ridge.
    I think he’s considering Giuliani.
    – Might put NY in enough play to make Obama spend a lot of money there.
    – Has name recognition and gets plenty of respect on law enforcement/national security
    – Might be more palatable to pro-lifers if he were to make clear that it’s McCain’s pro-life administration

Michelle Malkin is already shuddering at the prospect of McRudy.

But, would she rather have flipper Romney?

Obama Ready to Announce Vice President?

    +++++Update+++++

Don’t wait up tonight for the e-mail or text as to who Obama’s VP will be. But, the New York Times says Obama has been focusing on

    • Joe Biden
    • Tim Kaine
    • Evan Byah

Looks like the announcement will be forthcoming though. Flap bets it will leak late tomorrow afternoon.

Bill Kristol has a different three:

    • Joe Biden
    • Tim Kaine
    • Kathy Sebelius

Now, will McCain REALLY wait until a week from Friday to name his Vice President? The formal announcement yes. But if McCain has made the decision he will trump Obama on Wednesday or Thursday and not let him have this weekend uncontested.

    obamasvp

Matt Drudge is the first up with the poop:

The NYT newsroom was buzzing late Monday afternoon after Obama-beat reporter Jeff Zeleny learned how the Dem hopeful has now finalized his choice for a running-mate.

Obama has set an elaborate roll-out to announce his decision that will begin with an early morning e-mail to supporters, perhaps as early as Tuesday, Zeleny and Adam Nagourney have been told.

A top source close to Caroline Kennedy tells DRUDGE — the pick is more likely to come early Wednesday morning.

Drudge’s non-scientific poll has A Wild Card, then Joe Biden in the lead with Evan Byah in third place. Hillary is a close 4th.

Who will it be? And, when?

Flap says the leak is anytime now…….
