Day By Day December 5, 2009 – Messengers

Day By Day by Chris Muir

President Obama had to announce a “LEAVE” or “WITHDRAWAL” date from the Taliban-Afghanistan War otherwise the anti-war LEFT would eat him alive after authorizing more troops.

But, the Obama Administration policy continues to be considered a dithering, no-win approach.

Doesn’t this remind you of Jimmy Carter-Iran-Afghanistan and LBJ-Vietnam?

In the Spring, if this war does NOT turn around, look for Obama to cut and run before Labor Day 2010 and the November midterm elections.

Day By Day December 2, 2009 – Pass!

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Jan and Damon congrats on your new son.

It appears Jan had an easier time passing him than President Obama did with last night’s speech announcing troop deployments in Afghanistan.

Now, Obama is being criticized from the LEFT and RIGHT.

The verdict from the court of world opinion continues to be out on whether Obama can step up and beomce a wartime President – or PASS.

Day By Day November 30, 2009 – Lip Service

Day By Day by Chris Muir

The world awaits President Obama’s decision on troop deployments in Afghanistan tomorrow. There have been more leaks and trial baloons floated over the Thanksgivng weekend.

Now, there is discussion of an EXIT STRATEGY.

President Obama plans to lay out a time frame for winding down the American involvement in the war in Afghanistan when he announces his decision this week to send more forces, senior administration officials said Sunday.

Although the speech was still in draft form, the officials said the president wanted to use the address at the United States Military Academy at West Point on Tuesday night not only to announce the immediate order to deploy roughly 30,000 more troops, but also to convey how he intends to turn the fight over to the Kabul government.

“It’s accurate to say that he will be more explicit about both goals and time frame than has been the case before and than has been part of the public discussion,” said a senior official, who requested anonymity to discuss the speech before it is delivered. “He wants to give a clear sense of both the time frame for action and how the war will eventually wind down.”

The officials would not disclose the time frame. But they said it would not be tied to particular conditions on the ground nor would it be as firm as the current schedule for withdrawing troops in Iraq, where Mr. Obama has committed to withdrawing most combat units by August and all forces by the end of 2011.

Officials of one allied nation who have been extensively briefed on the president’s plan said, however, that Mr. Obama would describe how the American presence would be ratcheted back after the buildup, while making clear that a significant American presence in Afghanistan would remain for a long while. That is designed in part to signal to Pakistan that the United States will not abandon the region and to allay Pakistani fears that India will fill the vacuum created as America pulls back.

Well, it appears that the President is giving lip service to our troops, the Afghans and the Pakistanis. In order to appease, the far left of the Democrat Party he might as well announce a retreat and/or a withdrawal. The Obama Administratrion is no longer committed to the Global War on Terror – let the fireworks begin.

The terrorists have won and MORE innocent people will die.

Day By Day November 27, 2009 – Trials

Day By Day by Chris Muir

President Obama has AVOIDED making the politically difficult troop decisions in Afghanistan while he has ordered continued drone attacks in outlying Pakistan. Is the President sending conflicting signals?

No, actually he is protecting his LEFT flank from criticism.

In the meantime, Obama is looking weak and dithering to the American public. Remember he was elected primarily because of Bush aversion and the Iraq War.

Should the Afghanistan-Taliban War not go well in the next twelve months and the economy remains weak with high unemployment look for a plethora of GOP candidates waiting to line up for a 2012 run.

Day By Day November 24, 2009 – The Do-Over President

Day By Day by Chris Muir

President Obama will likely announce his Afghanistan policy next Tuesday during a prime time television newscast.

What has taken Obama so long? Obama held his ninth formal Afghanistan strategy session in the White House Situation Room last night.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said in a statement: “After completing a rigorous final meeting, President Obama has the information he wants and needs to make his decision and he will announce that decision within days.”

The decision is shaping up as one of the most momentous of Obama’s presidency, coming as the public is turning negative toward the war effort and his fellow Democrats are growing increasingly vocal in their opposition to a troop buildup in Afghanistan.

Obama’s decisions about his strategy are not known. But administration officials expect him to announce an increase of 20,000 to 40,000 additional troops in Afghanistan, a victory for his commander, Gen. Stanley McChrystal.

McChrystal has argued that “success is achievable” in Afghanistan with proper resources, and 40,000 troops was his middle — and preferred — recommendation in a set of three options he presented in his own strategic review. They would join 68,000 U.S. troops there now.

And, how many trial baloons will there be floated between now and next week?

With Obama’s statements having an expiration date, he is looking like Jimmy Carter and his indecisive, wavering foreign policy every week.

With the announcement next week, buried right before Thanksgiving, it continues to look like Obama is conflicted in Afghanistan decision making. Want this one of John McCain’s and Hillary Clinton’s main arguments against the Obama Presidency? Untested as Commander in Chief?

Day By Day November 10, 2009 – The Drone Wars

Day By Day by Chris Muir

The White House has floated a trial baloon with President Obama agreeiing to send 40,000 more troops to Afghanistan – bring to about 100,000 in Afghanistan. I say a trial baloon because NOW the Obama Administration is denying it.

The White House has issued the following response to this story, attributed to White House National Security Advisor James Jones:

“Reports that President Obama has made a decision about Afghanistan are absolutely false. He has not received final options for his consideration, he has not reviewed those options with his national security team, and he has not made any decisions about resources. Any reports to the contrary are completely untrue and come from uninformed sources.”

So, what is it going to be?

President Obama has dragged his feet on a troop deployment decision, putting more Americans at risk in a bloddy war.

Mr President, time to fish or cut bait.

Video: California U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer Runs Away From Questions on Afghanistan War – Updated

    ++++++++++

Senator Boxer as she retreated DID say no more troops but who knows what she meant? As Carly Fiorina gets ready to announce her candidacy this week, Boxer will likely be called on to explain what she meant.

Patriot Axiom tracked down Senator Boxer on the streets of Oakland and asked some very simple questions.

Senator Boxer can run but she cannot hide. With Carly Fiorina ready to announce her candidacy against Boxer next week, the Senator will have to answer about her less than mediocre record for California in the U.S. Senate.

If Sen. Barbara Boxer, California Democrat, is successful in passing her bill to reduce carbon emissions, commonly called cap and trade, it would only be the fourth bill she’s championed that’s signed into law during her three terms as a U.S. senator.

When Mrs. Boxer, joined by former Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, brought their 821-page Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act to the floor Wednesday, critics noted that only three of the nearly 400 bills she has sponsored have ever been passed.

Brian Walsh, a spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, said in an e-mail that Mrs. Boxer’s record could be summed up in three words: “Ineffective, polarizing and partisan.”

Mr. Walsh, looking ahead to that cycle, also said, “While her colleague Sen. [Dianne] Feinstein has had four times as many bills signed into law, Boxer has been content berating decorated generals and serving as the darling for the radical left. When you consider the many serious issues facing California right now, including the current fiscal crisis, you can bet Boxer’s ineffective and partisan record will be a central issue in her re-election bid next year.”

Indeed, Senator Boxer’s Senate record is fairly dismal – no matter how you count the tally.

Maybe this is the REAL reason why the Senator is running away.

Day By Day October 31, 2009 Mission Creep

Day By Day by Chris Muir

More symbolism over substance for President Obama. He dithers and postpones/delays a decision on troop deployments in Afghanistan but manages a photo op in Dover with the dead soldiers.

    Real nice.

Then, the LEFT attacks President George W. Bush for never exploiting the same opportunity – blaming him for NOT caring.

    Again, real nice.

In the meantime, the White House releases its visitor logs with terrorist William Ayers and racist Jeremiah Wright conspicuous by their inclusion.

Now, is that enough to creep anyone out on Halloween?

Day By Day by Chris Muir

President Obama has painfully delayed his decision on deploying MORE troops in the War in Afghanistan. What is he waiting for and why is his decision making process viewed as dithering?

Well, didn’t the American people understand that the former Illinois State Senator OFTEN voted “PRESENT” rather than make a definitive decision?

Health care reform is easy since the Congress (controlled overwhelmingly by his party) will write and shepherd the legislation. An executive decision where Obama is held directly accountable (note: not blamed on President Bush) NOT so easy.

Day By Day October 25, 2009 – Tolerances

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Yes, Chris Halloween is coming up next Saturday, Obama is President and isn’t it scarey?

Speaking about tolerances, did you know today President Obama finished his 24th round of golf since being in the White House. This was accomplished in less than a year.

Does anyone realize before President Bush quit playing golf (because America was at war and he deemed it inappropriate) it took 2 years and 10 months for him to play 24 rounds? This was from CBS White House Correspondent Mark Knoller’s twitter stream – @markknoller.

Wonder if Obama will obtain any tolerance in the matter? You know because of the continuing war in Afghanistan and the 130K troops continuing to be deployed in Iraq.

    Just askin…..?
