James Webb Watch: Nancy Reagan Demands Webb PULL Fraudulent Campaign Ad Featuring Ronald Reagan

    Webbseptember8aweb

Democrat Jim Webb’s first TV ad shows President Ronald Reagan speaking at the Naval Academy.

AP: Nancy Reagan objects to campaign ad

Democratic Senate candidate Jim Webb has a television ad ready to air featuring praise from his late boss Ronald Reagan — and Nancy Reagan called on him Friday to cancel it.

Webb, who was Reagan’s Navy secretary before Webb switched to the Democratic Party, uses the ultimate GOP icon to send a sentimental message to conservatives and moderates courted by his opponent, Sen. George Allen (news, bio, voting record). The ad is scheduled to begin airing next week.

But a three-paragraph letter from the former first lady’s office said the use of footage of Reagan, who died in 2004, is “neither authorized nor appropriate.”
In a telephone interview, Edwin Meese, attorney general under Reagan, called use of the footage “improper, unethical and very possibly illegal. … For him to use video of Ronald Reagan to appear in a campaign ad to favor him is fraud.”

James Web is having his own Virginia MACACA moment.

What a DUMBASS in not asking permission from President Reagan’s family.

Senator Joe Lieberman Watch: New Poll Has Joe Lieberman Winning 51-35

    liebermanseptember7aweb

U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman marches with his wife, Hadassah, Monday Sept. 4, 2006, in the Newtown, Conn. Labor Day parade. Lieberman, the party’s vice presidential candidate six years ago, marched several blocks behind his former allies in Monday’s parade in Newtown, one of the state’s biggest traditional campaign season kickoff events.

Political Wire: In Connecticut, Poll Finds Lamont Way Behind

A new Public Opinion Strategies (R) poll finds Ned Lamont (D) trailing Sen. Joe Lieberman (I), 51% to 35%, in the Connecticut U.S. Senate race. Republican Alan Schlesinger receives 4% of the vote, while 10% remain undecided.

Key finding: When asked which candidate is running a negative campaign, 40% say Lamont compared to 19% for Lieberman.

Looks like Joementum has taken hold in Connecticut.

Is this why Senate Democrats are being NICE?

Weeks after Lieberman lost the Democratic primary — and defied his party with an independent bid — the three-term Connecticut senator was greeted warmly Wednesday as he attended his party’s weekly luncheon and participated in Senate business.

Democrats gave Lieberman an ovation as Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., introduced him at the lunch and welcomed him back. Republican Sen. Susan Collins (news, bio, voting record) of Maine shared a hug with Lieberman on the Senate floor.

Looks like Kos and the NETNUTTERS are going to take yet another loss.

Rick Santorum Watch: Casey and Santorum Debate on Meet the Press

    santorumseptember4aweb

In this photograph provided by ‘Meet the Press,’ Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., left, and his Democratic Senate challenger Bob Casey debate during the taping of ‘Meet the Press” Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at the NBC studios in Washington.

Washington Times: Casey and Santorum mix it up

Bob Casey Jr., the Pennsylvania state treasurer who is seeking to oust Republican Sen. Rick Santorum, said in a debate yesterday that there is no “crisis” facing Social Security, which most economists agree is headed for collapse unless major changes are made.

“I don’t think you’re talking about a crisis,” the Democrat said during an hourlong debate yesterday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” Mr. Casey said the program — raided for years by federal lawmakers to pay for other government programs — will fix itself.

“So [we’ll have] double the people on Social Security and Medicare, and life expectancy approaches 80. And the solution is ‘do nothing’?” moderator Tim Russert asked.

Flap smells a Bob Casey (who has a reputation for being an “EMPTY SUIT”) collapse. This Casey social security comment is like Gerald Ford in his debate with Jimmy Carter saying Eastern Europe were not satellites (under the domination) of the Soviet Union. Casey’s understanding and misstatement of the social security system is a BLUNDER of the first order.

Everyone knows that there are structural demographic problems with the social security system that will require a fix.

Can Rick Santorum make a comeback?

    Likely

Stay tuned as the GOP works the media campaign.

    Blogosphere:

Captain Ed: Casey: Social Security Just Fine

Politicians like Bob Casey want to pretend that nothing’s wrong with ballooning entitlements until the bill comes due — and then he wants to stick us with it. Casey needs to ditch the talking points and start doing some of his own thinking, or he needs to find another line of work.

Senator Joe Lieberman Watch: Newtown Labor Day Parade FLAP

    liebermanaugust30aweb

US Senator Joseph Lieberman, pictured here at a recent Newtown appearance, has had an invitation to march in the town’s Labor Day Parade retracted by members of the local Democratic Town Committee and First Selectman Herb Rosenthal.

The Newtown Bee: Lieberman Controversy Attends Labor Day Parade Preparations

If US Senator Joseph Lieberman chooses to march in this year’s Newtown Labor Day parade, he will likely do so as a true independent. Local members of the Democratic Town Committee, including First Selectman Herb Rosenthal and former staunch Lieberman supporter Jim Juliano, agree that the Senator has no reason to believe he is welcome to march beside other endorsed party candidates.

“By marching with members of the DTC and invited Democratic candidates and state leaders, it would give the impression that we support his candidacy,” said Mr Rosenthal when asked about the issue late Wednesday.

“I told him through his office, that as a duly elected Democratic official, he’s putting me in an uncomfortable, almost embarrassing position. We have a duly elected candidate, who was endorsed by a historic turnout of state Democrats in the recent primary. I don’t have to march with [Sen Lieberman], the DTC doesn’t have to march with him, so why would he want to make it look like he’s in good graces with the Democratic Party?” Mr Rosenthal continued. “He is not in good graces with state Democrats.”

Senator Lieberman is a sitting Democrat United States Senator. Anyone except petty POLS would wish their Connecticut United States Senator marching in their town’s parade.

But NO – the Democrats continue to EAT THEIR OWN.

And when JoeMentum is elected as an independent……..

    Stay tuned…….

Senator George Allen Watch: Webb NOW leads Allen in Latest Poll

    allenaugust29adarkowweb

WAVY TV/Daily Press: Webb leads Sen. Allen slightly in latest poll

Democratic Senate candidate James Webb, down by more than 10 percentage points in the polls in late July, has moved ahead of Sen. George Allen in the latest Wall Street Journal/Zogby Poll.

Webb, from Falls Church, leads Allen 47.9 percent to 46.6 percent, according to the poll, which was conducted Aug. 15-21 and has a 3.2 percentage point margin of error.

Voters do not like intemperate and mean candidates.

Senator Allen stepped in the Macaca and only time will tell if he can extricate himself.

Senator Joe Lieberman Watch: Lieberman Considers Iraq War Withdrawl Plan

    liebermanaugust25aweb

U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman, left, retired Air Force Gen. Lloyd W. Newton, center, and Conn. Gov. M. Jodi Rell speak with the media at the Base Closure and Realignment Commission forum, Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, in Waterford Conn. A year after sparing Submarine Base New London from closure, supporters were meeting Thursday to devise ways to keep Connecticut’s largest military installation off future cost-savings plans at the Pentagon.

AP: Lieberman to consider Iraq pullout plan

Sen. Joe Lieberman, the three-term Democrat whose independent campaign for re-election is being seen as a referendum on the Iraq war, said Friday he would consider taking a look at a fellow lawmaker’s proposal for a timeline for troop withdrawals.

The proposal was floated by Republican Rep. Chris Shays, another Connecticut politician facing a tough re-election battle with an anti-war candidate. Shays has long been a supporter of the war and previously opposed withdrawal timetables.

“It seems to me that Chris is saying, maybe we ought to set some goals for when we want to get out, and I’d like to see what he has in mind before I comment on it,” Lieberman said while campaigning in New Haven.

“As I’ve said to you over and over again, the sooner we get out of Iraq, the better it’s going to be for the Iraqis and us, but if we leave too soon for reasons of American politics, it’s going to be disaster for the Iraqis and for us,” he said.

Shays proposed a timeline Thursday on a telephone conference call from London with reporters following his 14th visit to Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.

“We should be able to tell the American people what kind of timeline we can have to begin to draw down our troops,” he said. “It may be a timeline the American people don’t want to hear. It may not be something that brings them out quickly.”

    Politics don’t you love it.

    Is this a serious proposal?

Sort of….a proposal to win re-election.

The LEFT BLOGOSPHERE is going to love this, especially on the day Lieberman was allowed to stay on Democrat Party rolls and Hillary Clinton finally KISSED Ned Lamont’s ASS.

Senator George Allen Watch: Allen Apologizes for Offensive Remarks – FLAP Part II

AP: Sen. Allen apologizes for ‘macaca’ jibe

Sen. George Allen (news, bio, voting record) personally called an opponent’s aide and apologized for singling the man out almost two weeks ago with an obscure comment that has cast a shadow over the senator’s White House ambitions, his campaign said.

S.R. Sidarth, a Democratic volunteer of Indian descent, was videotaping an Allen campaign event when the senator pointed to him and twice called him “Macaca.” Macaca is a genus of monkeys that includes macaques, and is also considered a racial slur in some parts of the world.

“This fellow over here with the yellow shirt — Macaca or whatever his name is — he’s with my opponent,” Allen said.

He noted that his opponent, Democrat Jim Webb, was raising money in California, then told the crowd of about 100 supporters: “Let’s give a welcome to Macaca here. Welcome to America and the real world of Virginia.”

Sidarth, who was born just outside Washington in Fairfax County, Va., said he felt Allen was singling him out by race.

    The Video is here.

Earth to George Allen: You already apologized – let it go.

Now, you are going to stock the kid?

Allen on Wednesday tracked down a phone number for Sidarth at the University of Virginia, where the 20-year-old had returned for his senior year, and apologized to him, said campaign manager Dick Wadhams.

“Senator Allen made a heartfelt apology,” Wadhams said. “He told Sidarth he thought he would see him on the campaign trail, but Sidarth had headed back to U.Va., so we Googled his name, found his number and the senator called him this morning.”

Will Senator George Allen recover from this FLAP?

    For the Senate: Maybe

For the Presidency: Forget about it.

    Allah has more on “Macccagate.”

XRLQ says Allen should hire him to nuclear fisk James Webb and other Allen opponents.

    Flap agrees…..

Senator Joe Lieberman Watch: Lieberman Certified to Appear on Connecticut Ballot

    liebermanaugust23aweb

U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., speaks at a rally with hundreds of union workers, Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, in New Haven, Conn. Representatives of about 20 union locals rallied Tuesday in support of Lieberman, even though many prominent Democrats abandoned him after he lost the Democratic primary and launched an independent campaign.

AP: Lieberman certified to appear on ballot

U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman has enough voter signatures to secure a spot on the November ballot with a new party, the secretary of the state said Wednesday.

The certification means that Lieberman, who lost the Democratic primary to a political newcomer, will run for re-election as the candidate of the new Connecticut for Lieberman party.

Ok, let’s get this PARTY started……..
