Hillary Clinton Watch: Former Hillary Campaign Manager Joins Team Obama

Hillary Clinton and Patti Solis Doyle

A harbinger of Hillary Clinton as the Vice Presidential nominee or an in your face “SLAP?”

The Obama campaign is about to make its first big hire out of the campaign of Hillary Rodham Clinton. Patti Solis Doyle, who was Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign manager until she was ousted in a staff shake up in February, will join Mr. Obama’s campaign as the chief of staff to the vice presidential candidate – whoever he (or she) will be, campaign officials said.

Ms. Doyle will take the position before Mr. Obama announces his choice for a running-mate – he has not said when that will be. Mrs. Clinton and Ms. Doyle have a long friendship, and Ms. Doyle has long been one of her closest aides, until she was forced out. Could that mean – tea-leaf reading time – that Mr. Obama is really considering Mrs. Clinton for the No. 2 position, and wants to have an ally of her in place to ease the way? Perhaps.

Or perhaps not. More likely, the Obama campaign was looking for a high-profile spot to put Ms. Doyle, given her previous position, and most of the major roles in Mr. Obama’s campaign are filled.

Flap says Obama will NEVER name Hillary as Vice President. So, read into the appointment anyway you want.

    Flap says a SLAP.

John McCain and Barack Obama in Nevada Dead Heat

Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain (L) stands while Carly Fiorina, former chairman and chief executive officer of Hewlett-Packard, speaks during a campaign event in Warren, Michigan,January 12, 2008

The latest Mason-Dixon poll from the Las Vegas Review Journal has:

    • John McCain – 44%

    • Barack Obama – 42%

    • Undecided – 14%

The margin of error was plus or minus 4 percentage points.

    Key graphs:

    • In another crucial demographic, Obama, 46, prevails among Hispanic voters, with 53 percent, but nearly one-fifth are undecided and McCain still draws 28 percent.

Hispanics are likely to be targeted by both campaigns as a perceived swing vote group, Duffy said. McCain already has aired ads on Spanish-language radio in Nevada.

    • Both candidates have staked their campaigns on their appeal to voters who aren’t registered with a political party. In that group, McCain polled markedly better than Obama, 43 percent to 32 percent.

A larger proportion of independents, 25 percent, were undecided than any other demographic group in the poll.

Pollster Coker said that with Democrats ahead in voter registration in Nevada and the national mood hostile to Republicans, McCain will have to hold on to his lead among independents in order to have a chance in the state.

“This race is going to be a battle for independents, and right now, in the battle for independents, McCain is ahead,” he said.

Nevada like in 2000 and 2008 will be a major battleground state with five electoral votes up for grabs.

Should Barack Obama NOT chose Bill Richardson, the Hispanic Governor of New Mexico or Hillary Clinton as his Vice President, Flap predicts the Nevada Hispanic vote will flip over to McCain.

Alos, with the major foreclosure crisis in Clark County, independent voters will be less supportive of Democrat and Obama’s plan to raise taxes.

    Advantage McCain…..

John McCain Moves Farther Left and Courts Hillary Clinton Supporters

Clinton supporter Harriet Christian angry after Rules & Bylaws committee meeting on Florida and Michigan.

It was a matter of time that McCain would move LEFT, PANDER and attempt to recruit the disgruntled Clintonistas.

Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina stayed to mingle with the crowd, whose members also included Clinton backer Harriet Christian, made momentarily famous on YouTube for getting ejected from the Rules & Bylaws press area.

Bower said he’d liked McCain’s answer on judges, in which he “pointed out that he supported Bill Clinton with both Ginsberg and Breyer.”

Another person who was present, but asked not to be named to avoid conflict with fellow Democrats, said he’d pressed a McCain staffer on McCain’s position on same-sex marriage.

The staffer “said it was the same as [John] Kerry’s position,” he said.

John McCain does NOT need conservatives, now does he?

    Color Flap disappointed.

Flap figures that MCCain is afraid of what the new polls show.

    But, I told you so……

    Hillary Clinton Watch: It’s Over?

Regina Stern of Barnegat, N.J., center, holds up a ‘Hillary Clinton for President’ sign with a John McCain sticker attached prior to a town hall meeting with Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., Friday, June 13, 2008, in Pemberton, N.J. Stern said she supported Hillary Clinton in the Democratic presidential primary but now supports McCain.

It has been a week since Hillary Clinton suspended her Presidential campaign – note that she did not concede the race. And, also, note how Flap said she would hover and linger about the race during the summer waiting for Obama to stumble.

But, how will she keep the dream alive?

Jake Tapper over at ABC has the poop on the Clinton’s “suspended” campaign.

Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, may still be vacationing at Oscar de la Renta’s, or wherever, but the reverberations from her erstwhile campaign continue.

In GQ, her senior adviser, the much maligned Mark Penn, gives one more interview on his post-campaign rehabilitation tour. Read it HERE.

And — recalling the Japanese soldier “holdouts” found in the islands of the Philippines years after World War II ended — a Million Woman March on Denver for the Democratic Convention in August on behalf of Clinton is being planned.

Bill Clinton is back on the campaign trail as well.

For his part, Bill Clinton popped up in Torrance, Calif., this week to speak at the 8th grade graduation of his nephew, after which he popped in on the American Film Institute’s tribute to Warren Beatty.

This race is NOT over until Barack Obama officially wins the nomination in Denver. Political chatter of Hillary as Vice President has also died down – has anyone noticed?

    Stay tuned……

Barack Obama Playing Games with Town Hall Meetings

    Barack Obama

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama D-Ill. shakes hands after speaking at the Oakleaf Village retirement community in Columbus, Ohio, Friday, June 13, 2008

Clearly, Barack Obama does not want to discuss the issues where John McCain MAY hold an advantage.

From Obama campaign manager David Plouffe in rejecting John McCain’s Town Hall Proposal:

“Barack Obama offered to meet John McCain at five joint appearances between now and Election Day—the three traditional debates plus a joint town hall on the economy in July and an in-depth debate on foreign policy in August. That package of five engagements would have been the most of any Presidential campaign in the modern era—offering a broad range of formats—and representing a historic commitment to openness and transparency.

“It’s disappointing that Senator McCain and his campaign decided to decline this proposal. Apparently they would rather contrive a political issue than foster a genuine discussion about the future of our country.

“Senator Obama believes that the American people deserve an open and accessible debate as they choose between real change and four more years of failed Bush policies, and he welcomed McCain’s invitation to offer voters ‘the rare opportunity of witnessing candidates for the highest office in the land discuss civilly and extensively the great issues at stake in the election.”

The American people get stiffed again.

Barack Obama can run but he cannot hide. Team McCain WILL facilitate that.

Barack Obama Watch: Here Comes the Increase in Payroll Taxes

    Barack Obama and Michelle Obama

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama D-Ill., speaks to senior citizens, Friday, June 13, 2008, in Columbus, Ohio, as his wife Michelle Obama looks on

If anyone believes that Barack Obama as President and the Democrat controlled Congress would limit Social Security payroll taxes to increase for taxpayers ONLY making more than $250,000 a year then Flap has a New York bridge to sell you.

Democrat Barack Obama would apply the Social Security payroll tax to all annual incomes above $250,000, which he says would affect the wealthiest 3 percent of Americans.

The payroll tax is now applied to all income up to $102,000 a year, which covers the entire amount for most Americans. Under Obama’s plan, the tax would not apply to incomes between that amount and $250,000. But all annual income above the quarter-million-dollar amount would be taxed under his plan.

    But……

    1. There are insufficent number of “BALLERS” to exact the amount of money to make Social Security solvent.

    2. Most of these taxpayers faced with increasing taxes would divert their income stream to non-earned income compensation which would NOT be subject to the increased taxation.

This is a prime example of the consistent Democrat age and social class pandering act.

    Change?

Plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose – The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Malik Obama says his brother will be good president for the Jews

Barack Obama’s half brother Malik said Thursday that if elected his brother will be a good president for the Jewish people, despite his Muslim background.

In an interview with Army Radio he expressed a special salutation from the Obamas of Kenya.

Jim Geraghty suggests that Malik be investigated by Obama’s FightTheSmears.

Barack Obama Watch: Flipping On Iraq?

Barack Obama on April 5, 2004
Obama: Don’t Bring The Troops Home

So, has Barack Obama opportunistically flipped on the Iraq War when war events went sour after 2004?

Or is his Iraq War policy a LIE or an inconsistent NON-TRUTH?

So I guess what I’m getting to… is that Obama hasn’t been consistent… but that consistency is not the coin of this realm. The Obama campaign claims that Obama has made an evidenced-based assessment of what to do and will continue to do as president; as the facts on the ground change, he won’t stubbornly stick to preconceptions about what to do.

Me thinks this will be Town Hall and/or candidate debate fodder. Obama should explain what his policy WILL be regarding the Iraq War. Obama already flipped on his Iran preconditions for negotiation pronouncement.

    Words have meaning, Senator.
