Republican California State Senate candidate and former California Assemblyman Tony Strickland waving to early morning commuters in Camraillo, California, August 13, 2008

From the press release:

Continuing the optimism and “can do” theme established by his positive television ads (seen here), Tony Strickland continued his grass roots campaign this past week surrounded by dozens of campaign supporters and volunteers who took to the streets of Camarillo at six o’clock in the morning for a few hours of Burma-Shaving with Strickland campaign signs and messages about lower taxes, budget reform, renewable energy, and opposition to a proposed prison hospital facility in the city of Camarillo. “Burma-Shaving” is a term made famous by the 1920’s advertising campaign of the Burma-Shave company which used poems and slogans on small boards for display to passers-by.

The early morning Camarillo rally was the first of many appearances by an increasing number of supporters, volunteers, interns, and Tony Strickland himself. The campaign has continued the daily Burma-Shave rallies at many locations throughout the 19th SD every morning since and will continue the program through election day on Nov. 4th.

“It’s a great feeling to get up early and see voters eye to eye driving to work and school.”, said Strickland, “All of the waves, honks, thumbs up, and support we receive is a great feeling and an encouraging way to start the day.”

More photos of the early morning event are here on Flap’s Flickr photostream.

Tony Strickland has been renown for solid retail politics in all of his previous campaigns - walking precincts, greeting voters and asking them for their votes.

In this pivotal California State Senate race, Strickland is taking nothing for granted and working the shoe leather early and often.

And, while you are thinking about, go here and send Tony a few bucks to finance his media campaign.

A Powell spokeswoman now denies report

george-bush-farts-on-colin-powell

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell and President Bush

Per William Kristol on Fox News, Colin Powell will be endorsing Barack Obama for President at the Denver Democrat convention and will speak Wednesday night. Hillary Clinton and keynoter Mark Warner will speak Tuesday night.

It has been rumored for some time that the “disgruntled” not-reappointed former George W. Bush Secretary of State would try to stab the GOP in the back.

What will the impact be?

Minimal.

The Left will ONLY barely tolerate Powell and another former General, Wesley Clark, has already made an ass of himself for Obama.

Flap won’t mention the racial aspect in this endorsement.

The cancer?

This is as hard to swallow as Cheatin’ John’s story about Rielle Hunter and her baby’s father.

Tony Strickland for California State Senate television ad - “United”

So, is Democrat Hannah-Beth Jackson - Taxin’ Jackson - upset with independent expenditure ads by the California Taxpayer Protection Committee or that a Christian businessman, Howard Ahmanson, Jr. is contributing to her defeat?

For someone who has gladly accepted awards and money from abortion organizations, Hannah-Beth sure does whine alot.

Mickey Kaus asks the question about 99 per cent honest John. Most are not buying his story.

The Left excuses the MSM not covering the story and Edwards himself by saying he is no longer running for office. What a load of crap.

John Edwards needs to come clean especially about the child’s paternity and his expenditure of funds for Rielle Hunter.

More lies don’t cut it.

Prayers for it to rain on Barack Obama?

Guess this joke video was too much for Focus on the Family to handle.
