President Bush Watch: Bush Health Care Plan a LOSER
Readers: Please Vote in Flap’s January 2008 GOP Presidential Poll
U.S. President George W. Bush waves upon his arrival on the snow-covered South Lawn of the White House in Washington, January 22, 2007. Bush returned from a weekend at the Camp David Presidential retreat where he worked on his annual State of the Union address that he is scheduled to deliver on January 23.
Reuters: Millions could see taxes up in Bush health plan
About 30 million Americans could face a tax hike under President George W. Bush’s plan to expand health insurance coverage and address rising health care costs, the White House said on Monday.
“There are always going to be some winners and some losers, but the people who might initially be losers have options,” Kate Baicker, a member of the White House Council of Economic Advisors, told reporters.
There are about 47 million people with no health insurance in a country of 300 million. Baicker said Bush’s tax proposal would result in “upwards of 3 million or more newly insured people.”
Bush plans to highlight the plan in Tuesday’s State of the Union speech to the U.S. Congress.
Wow, socialism/tax redistribution and a massive middle class TAX INCREASE.
Remember “READ MY LIPS?”
This plan is a LOSER and almost as bad as Arnold Schwarzenegger’s radical health care proposal. And the WORD in California is that the Governator’s health care reform proposal is DEAD ON ARRIVAL.
But don’t forget the 150,000 medical doctors. Forget about managed care, imposing medical decisions on doctors by high school graduates, and forget about huge mal-practice premiums….the docs are organizing and are in an ugly mood. Nothing in 35 years have galvanized doctors since the mal-practice crisis. And, they are all furious with the Governor.
But, the Democrat’s plan is even WORSE – UNIVERSAL SINGLE PAYOR GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTH CARE.
The President’s health care plan is DOD – DEAD ON DELIVERY.
Stay tuned……..

BBC Watch: View of US’s Global Role ‘WORSE’

BBC: View of US’s global role ‘worse’
The view of the US’s role in the world has deteriorated both internationally and domestically, a BBC poll suggests.
The World Service survey, conducted in 25 nations including the US, found that three in four respondents disapproved of how Washington has dealt with Iraq.
The majority of the 26,381 respondents also disapproved of the way five other foreign policy areas have been handled.
The poll, released ahead of President Bush’s State of the Union speech, was conducted between November and January.
Read the rest of this CRAP story and absurd poll.
The poll can be accessed here.
Flap has never seen as BIASED a piece of “NEWS” in a MSM publication. The BBC makes NO pretense in its anti-American LEFT-WING Agenda.
There is so much wrong with the polling methods and construction of the questions. And what about the sampling methods? How about providing the poll internals?
The reader does not have to be a statistician to see what a POS this piece is.
And lookie lookie who is involved – the Left-Wing Brookings Institute and Steve Kull of PIPA and LEFTY Collaborator I.M. Destler.
Old Clinton and LBJ Democrat Hacks providing disinformation to the BBC.
What a surprise?

Michael Ramirez on Global Warming

Houston Chronicle: Climate scientists feeling the heat
As public debate deals in absolutes, some experts fear predictions ‘have created a monster’
Scientists long have issued the warnings: The modern world’s appetite for cars, air conditioning and cheap, fossil-fuel energy spews billions of tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, unnaturally warming the world.
Yet, it took the dramatic images of a hurricane overtaking New Orleans and searing heat last summer to finally trigger widespread public concern on the issue of global warming.
Climate scientists might be expected to bask in the spotlight after their decades of toil. The general public now cares about greenhouse gases, and with a new Democratic-led Congress, federal action on climate change may be at hand.
Problem is, global warming may not have caused Hurricane Katrina, and last summer’s heat waves were equaled and, in many cases, surpassed by heat in the 1930s.
In their efforts to capture the public’s attention, then, have climate scientists oversold global warming? It’s probably not a majority view, but a few climate scientists are beginning to question whether some dire predictions push the science too far.
“Some of us are wondering if we have created a monster,” says Kevin Vranes, a climate scientist at the University of Colorado.
But, Al Gore was already a MONSTER…….

Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran Bars 38 IAEA Inspectors
Readers: Please Vote in Flap’s January 2008 GOP Presidential Poll
AP: Iran bars 38 IAEA nuclear inspectors
Iran has barred 38 nuclear inspectors on a United Nations list from entering the country, the foreign minister said Monday in what appeared to be retaliation for the U.N. sanctions imposed last month.
The rejected officials are on a list of potential inspectors drawn up by the International Atomic Energy Agency to visit and monitor Iran’s nuclear facilities.
“The act of rejecting some inspectors is legal and in accordance with the agency’s regulations,” Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki told the official Islamic Republic News Agency. He said others on the U.N. nuclear watchdog’s list remain eligible, but did not explain how Iran decided which inspectors to bar.
The IAEA “submits a long list of inspectors to member countries and the countries have the right to oppose the visit by some inspectors,” Mottaki said.
The United States rebuked Iran for the move. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said it was “another example of the Iranians trying to dictate the terms to the international community — in this case, the IAEA.”
Who cares?
Everyone knows that Iran has a secret nuclear weapons program. What is there to inspect?
Nothing but what the Iranian Mullahs want the IAEA to see.
And from Flap’s view there may not be much infrastructure of a nuclear program left – and soon.
Stay tuned………

Rudy Giuliani Watch: Patrick Ruffini Hired For Giuliani Presidential e-Campaign

Washington Post: Giuliani Hires E-Campaign Expert
As Dan Balz and I wrote in today’s Post, presidential candidates on both sides are focused heavily on bolstering their Internet presence through a variety of new tools, including video, podcasts and even online video chats.
To brainstorm and implement these new innovations, the campaigns are chasing after a small group of people in their 20s and early 30s versed in the language of the new media.
One of the real “gets” on the GOP side of that world is Patrick Ruffini, who served as the Web master of President Bush’s 2004 reelection campaign and then served in a similar role at the Republican National Committee. Ruffini gained recognition in national Republican circles for his blog, which was one of the first serious attempts on the Republican side at building an online community.
Ruffini has signed on with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani‘s presidential campaign as an e-campaign adviser. The hiring is only the latest sign that Giuliani is serious about a run for national office in 2008.
As Flap said the first time – the Giuliani campaign is the REAL DEAL.
Stay tuned as web efforts become more readily apparent…….

Tony Strickland Watch: Strickland Eyes Tom McClintock’s California State Senate Seat in 2008
Readers: Please Vote in Flap’s January 2008 GOP Presidential Poll
GOP Controller candidate and former Simi-Thousand Oaks Assemblyman Tonyt Strickland speaking at the September 2005 California Republican Party Convention.
FlashReport: Tony Strickland looks to follow Tom McClintock into the State Senate
Last night, I had the opportunity to sit next to Tony and Audra Strickland at the wedding reception of a mutual friend. Tony, of course, is a former State Assemblyman and was the GOP nominee for State Controller last year. His wife, Audra, currently represents the 37th Assembly District as a member of the California legislature.
In chatting with Tony, he shared with me that on Friday, he had opened up a campaign committee and will be seeking the Republican nomination to succeed State Senator Tom McClintock in that Ventura County-based district, that stretches up into Santa Barbara County. Needless to say, the Strickland name has become quote familiar to residents in that area, and Tony becomes the immediate front-runner. His recent run for State Controller has helped to keep his name ID ‘current’ in the minds of voters — in addition to having his wife, Audra, serving as the State Assemblywoman for much of the district.
This move by tony Strickland was well-anticipated in Ventura County, California GOP politics.
Strickland is the front-runner and ANY thoughts that Mike Stoker, a field representative for current California State Senator, Tom McClintock are DELUSIONS of GRANDEUR.
Look for an uncontested February 2008 GOP primary election for this seat and for Tony Strickland to be the next State Senator.
Stay tuned…….

Cox & Forkum: Stranger Than Fiction
FOX News: Muslims Unhappy Over ’24’ Portrayal.
Two years ago, Muslim groups protested when the plot of the hit Fox drama `24′ cast Islamic terrorists as the villains who launched a stolen nuclear missile in an attack on America. Now, after a one-year respite during which Russian separatists played the bad guys on the critically acclaimed series, Muslims are back in the evil spotlight. Unlike last time, when agent Jack Bauer saved the day, the terrorists this time have already succeeded in detonating a nuclear bomb in a Los Angeles suburb.
Being portrayed again as the heartless wrongdoers has drawn renewed protests from Muslim groups, including one that had a meeting with Fox executives two years ago over the issue.
“The overwhelming impression you get is fear and hatred for Muslims,” said Rabiah Ahmed, a spokeswoman for the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations. She said Thursday she was distressed by this season’s premiere. “After watching that show, I was afraid to go to the grocery store because I wasn’t sure the person next to me would be able to differentiate between fiction and reality.” …
Sohail Mohammed, a New Jersey immigration lawyer who represented scores of detainees caught up in the post Sept. 11, 2001 dragnet, watched the episode depicting the nuclear attack with an Associated Press reporter.“I was shocked,” he said. “Somewhere, some lunatic out there watching this will do something to an innocent American Muslim because he believes what he saw on TV.”
Engy Abdelkader, a member of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee from Howell, N.J., launched a campaign Wednesday to encourage Muslims offended by the program to complain to Fox.
“I found the portrayal of American Muslims to be pretty horrendous,” she said. “It was denigrating from beginning to end. This is one of the most popular programs on television today. It’s pretty distressing.”
Perhaps the CAIR folks should discuss these issues with Iran’s President Ahmadinejad?

Rudy Giuliani Watch: Florida Return for Giuliani This Week
Readers: Please Vote in Flap’s January 2008 GOP Presidential Poll
Possible presidential candidate and former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani stumps for Charlie Crist in a Nov. 5 stop in Miami. Giuliani will be in Sarasota this week for a series of appearances.
Herald Tribune: Giuliani returning to Sarasota this week
Visit comes as former New York mayor considers presidential run
The last time Rudolph Giuliani visited Sarasota, he stood in Five Points Park alongside congressional candidate Vern Buchanan and absorbed “Ru-dy” chants and screams of “Rudy for president.”
The former New York City mayor has since shifted the focus onto his own political future, as he considers running for president. He returns to the area this week to deliver three speeches about leadership in difficult times.
Giuliani’s talks are part of Ringling School Library Association’s 2007 Town Hall lecture series.
Giuliani’s speeches will likely touch on his role in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, his business ventures and possibly his battle with prostate cancer that took him out of running for New York’s U.S. Senate seat in 2000.
Florida will be an early campaign state when Mayor Giuliani makes his official announcement.
Giuliani 30%
Gingrich 16%McCain 15%
Romney 2%
Hagel 2%
Undecided 32%
And it is rumored that Florida will move their GOP primary election from March to Super Tuesday, February 5, 2008 – like
California.Florida lawmakers will consider a plan during this legislative session to move the Florida primary from the first week of March to within seven days of New Hampshire’s primary, a move that could change the political dynamic of the 2008 election.
“It’s a big deal for Florida,” said Mike Murphy, a GOP political consultant who has worked for several Republican presidential candidates, including President George W. Bush, Arizona Sen. John McCain and Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander.
“If Florida moves its primary close to New Hampshire’s, it will make Florida a major player,” Murphy said.
But Florida is not the only state thinking about changing its primary date. New Jersey, Michigan, North Carolina, Missouri and California are among the states looking at a Feb. 5, 2008, primary.
And the cost of competing so early in not just one but two large states – Florida and California – could change the primaries in a huge way.
Florida is an important state for ANY GOP nominee – you will see Hizzoner there campaigning.
Stay tuned…….
