Poll Watch: 23 Per Cent of Israelis Will Leave Israel If Iran Obtains a Nuclear Weapon

The test-firing of a new medium-range surface to surface missile in Iran on May 20. Iran’s former Revolutionary Guards chief Mohsen Rezai has warned he could stop Israel with “one strike” and said it would not dare to threaten the Islamic republic if he is elected president

Looks like Iran’s nuclear blackmail of Israel is already succeeding.

Some 85 percent of respondents said they feared the Islamic Republic would obtain an atomic bomb, 57 percent believed the new U.S. initiative to engage in dialogue with Tehran would fail and 41 percent believed Israel should strike Iran’s nuclear installations without waiting to see whether or how the talks develop.

“The findings are worrying because they reflect an exaggerated and unnecessary fear,” Prof. David Menashri, the head of the Center, said. “Iran’s leadership is religiously extremist but calculated and it understands an unconventional attack on Israel is an act of madness that will destroy Iran. Sadly, the survey shows the Iranian threat works well even without a bomb and thousands of Israelis [already] live in fear and contemplate leaving the country.”

Israel had an opportunity a few years ago after the 2006 midterm American elections and would not or could not pull the trigger against Iran’s nuclear program.

Now, under Obama, Iran will continue to stall by negotiations until they reach Breakout Capability and then the nuclear blackmail scenario will be complete.

    Bye Bye Israel……

Iran Tests New Sajjil-2 Surface to Surface Solid Fuel Missile – Threatens Israel and Southeastern Europe

Iran has test fired a new ballistic missile, Sajjil-2, with a range of 1200 miles, far enough to hit Israel and southeastern Europe

Iran has tested a new missle today with a range that threatens Israel.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Iran test-fired a new advanced missile Wednesday with a range of about 1,200 miles, far enough to strike Israel, southeastern Europe and U.S. bases in the Middle East.

The announcement will not reassure the U.S. government, coming just two days after President Barack Obama declared a readiness to seek deeper international sanctions against Iran if it shunned U.S. attempts to open negotiations on its nuclear program. Obama said he expected a positive response to his outreach for opening a dialogue with Iran by the end of the year.

“Defense Minister (Mostafa Mohammad Najjar) has informed me that the Sajjil-2 missile, which has very advanced technology, was launched from Semnan and it landed precisely on the target,” state radio quoted Ahmadinejad as saying. He spoke during a visit to the city of Semnan, 125 miles east of the capital Tehran, where Iran’s space program is centered.

Ahmadinejad is running for re-election in a June 12 vote and has been criticized by his opponents and others for antagonizing the U.S. and mismanaging the country’s faltering economy.

Most Western analysts believe Iran does not yet have the technology to produce nuclear weapons, including warheads for long-range missiles. A group of U.S. and Russian scientists said in a report issued Tuesday that Iran could produce a simple nuclear device in one to three years and a nuclear warhead in another five years after that.

Does anyone have the feeling that the United States and Europe are fiddling around with Iran as it develops a viable nuclear missile program?  And, Russia and China are facilitating it.

Time to avoid a nuclear confrontation is wasting away.

Poll Watch: If Israel Attacks Iran 49 Per Cent Say United States Should Help

What is amazing to me is that 37 per cent say the United States should do NOTHING to help Israel.

Forty-nine percent (49%) of Americans say that if Israel launches an attack against Iran, the United States should help Israel. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 37% believe the United States should do nothing while just 2% believe the U.S. should help Iran.

Last summer, just 42% said the United States should help Israel while 46% said the nation should do nothing.

Sixty-four percent (64%) of Republicans say that the U.S. should help Israel as do 50% of those not affiliated with either major political party. A plurality of Democrats (44%) say that the U.S. should do nothing.

Interesting in that American Jews overwhelmingly are members of the Democratic Party. Yet, Democrats do not favor intervention with Israel.

The question is how this public perception will change as Iran becomes closer and closer to developing a useable nuclear weapon.

Video: Rainbow Wigged Protester Throws Object at Iran’s President Ahmadinejad

The red clown nose that was thrown at Iran’s President was certainly smaller than a shoe that was thrown at President Bush. In the meantime, the protester is ushered out of the building and Ahmadinejad continues his rant against Israel.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accused the West of using the Holocaust as a “pretext” for aggression against Palestinians, prompting European diplomats to walk out Monday from a speech disrupted by jeering protesters in rainbow wigs tossing red clown noses at the hardline leader.

A U.N. racism conference on the eve of Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day disintegrated into chaos moments after Ahmadinejad became the first government official to take the floor. Two protesters in wigs tossed the noses at Ahmadinejad as he recited a Muslim prayer to begin his speech.

A Jewish student group from France later took credit for causing the disturbance, saying members were trying to convey “the masquerade that this conference represents.”

Wonder if Obama will be shaking Ahmadinejad’s hand any time soon?

Shocker: Iran Nuke – This Year

    Iran-Nuke-this-Year

Matt Drudge has the siren up on this shocking development about Iran’s nuclear program. Is this a shock?

No, the Bush Administration was unable to convince the world community and the United Nations in particular of the seriousness of Iran’s nuclear program. So, here you go – Iran is approaching BREAKOUT CAPABILITY.

Iran will have enough enriched uranium to make a single nuclear weapon later this year, the prestigious International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) predicts.

The think tank’s Mark Fitzpatrick made the announcement at today’s launch of its annual global review of military powers.

“During 2009, Iran will probably reach the point at which it has produced the amount of low-enriched uranium needed to make a nuclear bomb,” he said.

“But being able to enrich uranium is not the same as having a nuclear weapon.”

However, the survey reports doubts over US Intelligence estimates that Iran halted its work on nuclear weapons six years ago.

Nothing really NEW here. Everyone knows that Iran is advancing their ballistic missile capability in developing longer range missiles which is the delivery mechanism for a nuclear device AND they continue to enrich uranium, the building material for a nuclear bomb.

But, China and Russia block tougher sanctions in the United Nations Security Council and the Europeans talk but do little else.

It will be up to Israel and the United States to either block Iran or appease them.

So far appeasement seems to be winning out.

Israel Bombs Hamas and Obama Plays Golf

    Obama-playing-golf-while-Ga

This is change Americans can believe in, right? “The One” was nebulous about Israel during his campaign and why not let President Bush clean up his own Middle East mess? You know the doctrine of having one President at a time.

But the enlightened European press may be losing patience with the “Messiah” who was to deliver miracles to a waiting public.

Barack Obama remained silent over the violence in Gaza as Israel today threatened to continue its attacks for weeks.

Instead, the President-elect is continuing his 12-day Christmas holiday in Hawaii and was seen enjoying a round of golf.

He joined a group of friends at a private club near his £6million rented, beach-front holiday home yesterday.

Meanwhile, 9,000 miles away in the Middle East, Israel today rejected any truce with Hamas and said it was ready for ‘long weeks of action’ in the Gaza Strip.

Obama will be President soon enough and will actually have to make decisions.

Flap is not optimistic that he can rise to the challenge. A good speech with a teleprompter does not a good President make.

The American Airborne Laser to Protect Israel from Iranian Missiles?

Boeings Airborne Laser (ABL) will locate and track missiles in the boost phase of their flight, then accurately point and fire the high-energy laser, destroying enemy missiles near their launch areas.

Flap was thinking this morning about Israel’s pronouncement about the possibility of attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities and wondering what would protect Israel or other American allies in the Middle East from Iran’s missile retaliation?

The controversy regarding Poland and land-based missile defense has been discussed previously. But, this program is to protect the United States and will be limited in scope.

Then, Captain Ed pointed Flap to the Airborne Laser Program which recently accomplished another successful test.

Unlike its fixed-site cousins, the ground-based interceptors deployed in California and Alaska and (hopefully) Europe, ABL aircraft can be deployed where needed and are reusable.

Not only can they patrol off unfriendly nations, they would be quite useful patrolling our shores.

We have pointed out the dangers of an Iranian freighter launching a Shahab that would detonate its warhead high over the United States, unleashing an electromagnetic pulse that would send our high-tech economy back to the days of the covered wagons.

Lt. Gen. Henry Obering III, director of the Missile Defense Agency, in announcing the flight testing of the ABL system in late 2005, said he welcomed critics’ comparison to the “Star Wars” movies.

He said at the rollout ceremony, in words that will make the Democratic opponents of missile defense cringe: “I believe we are building the forces of good to beat the forces of evil. . . . We are taking a major step in giving the American people their first light saber.”

Now, does the reader see the urgency to slow down the Iranian nuclear program while accelerating the testing and early deployment of such an airborne anti-missile system?

This system would deter Iran or any other nation, like North Korea from launching a surprise or retaliatory missile attack against the United States or any friend. It buys the attacked nation time to marshall resources for an effective counter-attack and creates uncertainty as to the effectiveness of the initial attack.

How many of these ABL systems do you think Israel will purchase from the United States?

Israel Preparing to Attack Iran Without American Help

    iran nuclear facility map

    Map of Iran’s nuclear facilities

The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) is drawing up options to strike at Iran’s nuclear facilities without the complicit help of the United States.

While its preference is to coordinate with the US, defense officials have said Israel is preparing a wide range of options for such an operation.

“It is always better to coordinate,” one top Defense Ministry official explained last week. “But we are also preparing options that do not include coordination.”

Israeli officials have said it would be difficult, but not impossible, to launch a strike against Iran without receiving codes from the US Air Force, which controls Iraqi airspace. Israel also asked for the codes in 1991 during the First Gulf War, but the US refused.

So, they say, but, Flap does NOT believe it in the least.

This is a story to send a message to Barack Obama that it would not be wise to negotiate with the Mullahs before consulting Israel first.

    Or?

    Israel may go ROGUE.

A military strike against Iran would be tough for Israel since Iranian proxy clients Hamas and Hezbollah would then attack Israel from the north and west. Also, Israel will be attacked with Iranian chemically tipped missiles, putting American military defense systems to the test and Israeli cities at grave risk.

However, Israel will ONLY act if there is NO other option to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear WMD weapon that could wipe them off the map as Iran President Ahmadinejad has stated.

Shocker: Iran Has Nuclear Fuel to Make an Atomic Bomb

    iran-one-atom-bomb

No, not really a shock since the United States and EU have been screwing around with Iran regarding their uranium enrichment program for years.

Iran has now produced roughly enough nuclear material to make, with added purification, a single atom bomb, according to nuclear experts analyzing the latest report from global atomic inspectors.

The figures detailing Iran’s progress were contained in a routine update on Wednesday from the International Atomic Energy Agency, which has been conducting inspections of the country’s main nuclear plant at Natanz. The report concluded that as of early this month, Iran had made 630 kilograms, or about 1,390 pounds, of low-enriched uranium.

Several experts said that was enough for a bomb, but they cautioned that the milestone was mostly symbolic, because Iran would have to take additional steps. Not only would it have to breach its international agreements and kick out the inspectors, but it would also have to further purify the fuel and put it into a warhead design — a technical advance that Western experts are unsure Iran has yet achieved.

“They clearly have enough material for a bomb,” said Richard Garwin, a top nuclear physicist who helped invent the hydrogen bomb and has advised Washington for decades. “They know how to do the enrichment. Whether they know how to design a bomb, well, that’s another matter.”

United Nations sanctions have been ineffective since China and Russia (Iran’s business and trading partners) have watered down the resolutions. Lately, the Bush Administration has downplayed any tougher measures to punish Iran.

The ball will now be in the Obama Administration’s court or in Israel’s military ability.

The danger now is that Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia, Syria (already has developed a program that Israel bombed with USA help) and Egypt will desire to develop their own nuclear programs to counteract Iran’s hegemony in the region.

An announcement from Iran of BREAKOUT CAPABILITY may be next.

Video: Will Barack Obama Accept Iran’s Demands?

The latest wb video from McCain-Palin: Preconditions

    What will Barack Obama do?

Talk, negotiate or send former President Clinton to pave the way to a withdrawal from the Middle East?

    The Script:

JOHN MCCAIN: I’m John McCain and I approve this message.

ANNCR: Remember when Barack Obama said he’d sit down and talk with Iran without preconditions?

YOUTUBE QUESTIONER: Would you be willing to meet separately without precondition within the first year of your administration in Washington or anywhere else with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea?

    CNN’S ANDERSON COOPER: Senator Obama?

    BARACK OBAMA: I would.

ANNCR: Maybe Obama doesn’t have preconditions but Iran does.

Iran, whose President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said “Israel must be wiped off the map.”

    Iran demands:

That the U.S. must cease its support of Israel.

And that all U.S. military forces must leave the Middle East.

Meaning we abandon Iraq, Turkey and Kuwait.

    What will Obama do?

Will he admit he was wrong or will he accept Iran’s demands?

    Tough question.

Team McCain must take this message to Jewish voters particularly in Pennsylvania and Florida. The Jews there must ask Obama what he would do.

    But, they won’t.
