Day By Day November 7, 2009 – Presidents Who Stare at Goats

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Isn’t this a time when Americans REALLY wish John McCain was elected President instead of a rookie, Barack Obama?

I mean what do you expect from a Chicago POL with no military experience that voted “Present” most of his life.

Of course, Obama’s conduct is condemnable and today his Obamacare bill in the House will likely pass with its concomitant abortion funding by taxpayers.

The Winds of Change will be blowing in DC in preparation to the 2010 midterm Congressional elections as Obama’s poll numbers plummet.

Day By Day November 6, 2009 – Thirst for Representation

Day By Day by Chris Muir

The American Association of Retired Persons – AARP has been a LEFT-WING spewing organization for many years. Although I am eligible I have NOT joined and NEVER will. They do NOT represent me on American health care or anything else.

The American Medical Association is a strange endorser of Obamacare. Perhaps the physicans that do belong to the AMA (and their membership has been eroding lately and NOT every MD belongs) are either big government, public health types or they are just scared as to not be a part of a reform solution. I do know that many physicans that are my age WILL retire if the government takes over the remainder of private medicine. How will Obama and Pelosi deal with a lack of trained professionals?

With last Tuesday’s election results in Virginia and New Jersey, I continue to hold that Obamacare with a public option has a slim chance of passing into law. The GOP will NOT support it in the Senate (even Senator Olympia Snowe) and neither will a few Democrats like Senator Joe Lieberman. The Democrat majority will not be able to invoke cloture (prevent a filibuster). Now, reconcilation may be a different matter – but very risky politically in an upcoming midterm congressional election year.

Exit question: Will Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid push Obamacare through at the political risk of their members?

Day By Day October 29, 2009 – White Out

Day By Day by Chris Muir

The idea that private practice physicians and dentists would welcome Obamacare is a MYTH. Why would anyone consent to pay MORE taxes and see the public receive less benefits and rationed health care?

    It doesn’t make sense.

The White Coat ceremony at the White House was a joke and all symbolism over substance. The actual physicians in the audience must have been cringing as the white coats were being handed out.

Plus Ca Change from the Obama White House.

Day By Day by Chris Muir October 16, 2009 – News to Jan

Day By Day by Chris Muir

This is why Obamacare with the “public option” will stall in the Congress – Libs must be conservative.

The Blue Dog Democrats will NOT wish to put their political asses on the line and incur the wrath of senior citizen voters in their red tilting districts.

Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s Chief of Staff, helped these Blue Dog Democrats win favor with conservative voters to get them elected. Rahm won’t be there with them when they face the Congressional midterm elections next year.

Since the implementation of Obamacare taxation will occur before the reforms begin (ya gotta pay for it, after all), there will be sufficient time for a new Congress (less dominated by Democrats) to reverse the entire program.

So, will many members of Congress, except those in safe districts be willing to step up?

    Doubtful……

Day By Day by Chris Muir October 14, 2009 – Ya Gotta Go

Day By Day by Chris Muir

The Baucus Obamacare bill is CRAP and Senator Olympia Snowe should have voted no in the Senate Finance Committee yesterday. But, she is a moderate Republican from a “BLUE” state in the northeast. What does anyone expect?

Actually, Snowe’s aye vote will benefit the Republican Party. Republicans cannot be said to be obstructionist ONLY or the Party of NO.

The whole issue of Obamacare and the “public option” will have to be negotiated and reconciled by the majority Democrats who represent many more conservative districts and states that will be in play come the 2010 Congressional midterm election cycle.

Obamacare will be the perfect storm for a wedge issue. And, the taxes it involves will break the economies back.

While conservatives are outraged by the moderate Senator from Maine, she may have done the Republican Party the largest of favors.

    No, Chris!

It is pull LEFT and then RIGHT.

This is what will happen later today when the U.S. Senate Finance Committee will vote on an Obamacare bill which will little resemble the final health care reform legislation.

The machinations between Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Democrat Speaker Nancy Pelosi will very much determine the fate of President Obama’s major domestic reform initiative. Budget reconciliation, straw bills, subterfuge of bill’s contents, House-Senate conference bypass are all part of the game.

    Exit question:
Will the American people tolerate political gamesmanship when their health is at stake?

Harry Reid Protects Nevada from Obamacare – But, Taxes Are Voluntary Anyway

Jan Helfeld interviews Senator Harry Reid about redistributive taxes. Reid maintains redistributive taxes are not a problem because people are not forced to pay taxes. He says taxation is voluntary…..this is not a joke.

Nevada Democrat Senator and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid mayassert that taxes are voluntary but he sure knows where his political bread and butter are.

The Senate majority leader, Harry Reid of Nevada, has secured a special deal protecting his state against the costs of expanding Medicaid under one of the major health care bills moving through Congress.

Mr. Reid, a Democrat, complained about the impact on Nevada when the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Max Baucus, Democrat of Montana, unveiled his bill on Sept. 16.

Now Mr. Baucus has modified the bill to spare Nevada and three other states, and Mr. Reid, who faces a potentially difficult race for re-election next year, is taking credit for getting a “major increase” in federal money for his state.

The Senate bill, like a companion measure in the House, would expand Medicaid to cover childless adults, parents and other people with incomes less than 133 percent of the poverty level, or $29,327 for a family of four. The federal government would pay most of the new costs — anywhere from 77 percent to 95 percent, with a higher share in poorer states, in the first five years.

Under Mr. Baucus’s original proposal, the federal government would have paid 87 percent of the new costs in Nevada. Under the modified version, the federal government would pay 100 percent of the new costs for the first five years. Severe financial problems have prompted Nevada and other states to cut spending and furlough workers, and some states have even considered releasing prison inmates to save money.

So, in other words, Californians who are paying all of those “volunteer taxes” will subsidize Nevada’s Medicaid health care expansion – which could double.

    And, why?

Because Democrat Dear Leader Dingy Harry Reid is running for re-election, is in a tight race and needs to deliver “the goods” for Nevada voters.

Remember, California voters, Senator Reid says these taxes are “voluntary.”

Obamacare: Obama Health Care Reform Hits All Time Approval Low – 41 Per Cent

The latest Rasmussen reports poll record low approvals for President Obama’s health care reform efforts.

Just 41% of voters nationwide now favor the health care reform proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s down two points from a week ago and the lowest level of support yet measured.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 56% are opposed to the plan.

Senior citizens are less supportive of the plan than younger voters. In the latest survey, just 33% of seniors favor the plan while 59% are opposed. The intensity gap among seniors is significant. Only 16% of the over-65 crowd Strongly Favors the legislation while 46% are Strongly Opposed.

For the first time ever, a slight plurality of voters now express doubt that the legislation will become law this year. Forty-six percent (46%) say passage is likely while 47% say it is not. Those figures include 18% who say passage is Very Likely and 15% who say it is Not at All Likely. Sixty percent (60%) are less certain.

Sixty-eight percent (68%) of Democrats say the plan is at least somewhat likely to become law. Sixty-one percent (61%) of Republicans disagree. Among those not affiliated with either major party, 34% say passage is at least somewhat likely while 58% say it is not.

Noteworthy is the majority of Senior Citizens who are NOT supportive of Obamacare.

    Why?

Senior citizens vote in large numbers, especially in off-year elections – like 2010.

If the Blue Dog Democrats in the House can read these poll numbers they will be running away from Obama and Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Flap estimates the chances of Obamacare as envisioned with the public option to be less than 40 per cent. But, you never know what arms the left-wing of the Democrat Party can twist.
