The machinations continue by President Obama and Congressional Democrats to pass health reform legilsation, Obamacare. It is obvious that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi does not have the votes to pass this massive government takeover of American health care.

But, whether these parliamentary manuvers will stand up in a court challenge is another matter.

The Senate Parliamentarian has ruled that President Barack Obama must sign Congress’ original health care reform bill before the Senate can act on a companion reconciliation package, senior GOP sources said Thursday.

The Senate Parliamentarian’s Office was responding to questions posed by the Republican leadership. The answers were provided verbally, sources said.

House Democratic leaders have been searching for a way to ensure that any move they make to approve the Senate-passed $871 billion health care reform bill is followed by Senate action on a reconciliation package of adjustments to the original bill. One idea is to have the House and Senate act on reconciliation prior to House action on the Senate’s original health care bill.

Information Republicans say they have received from the Senate Parliamentarian’s Office eliminates that option. House Democratic leaders last week began looking at crafting a legislative rule that would allow the House to approve the Senate health care bill, but not forward it to Obama for his signature until the Senate clears the reconciliation package.

The biggest challenge though for the Democrats will be the negative political fallout from ramming this legislation through without any sense of bipartisan consensus. The fallout will mean massive Democrat Pary losses at the November midterm Congressional elections with a concomitant reversal of the legislation.

Day By Day March 5, 2010 – That Smell

Day by Day by Chris Muir

President Obama and his Democrat Party Cabal in the Congress will promise anything to get the votes to pass Obamacare. It is all or nothing – even if it ruins the prospects of fellow Democrats in the upcoming November midterm congressional elections.

Passing the healthcare proposals before Congress will “hang out to dry” every Democratic incumbent running for reelection this fall, Howard Dean said Thursday.

Dean, a physician by training who’s a former chairman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), said that Democrats in Congress — and President Barack Obama — would do themselves more harm than good by passing the current healthcare bill.

“The plan, as it comes from the Senate, hangs out every Democrat who’s running for office to dry — including the president, in 2012, because it makes him defend a plan that isn’t in effect essentially yet,” Dean said during an appearance on the liberal Bill Press Radio Show.

The smell of corruption will only increase as the Easter deadline approaches. In today’s 24 hour news cycle and instant communication, all Americans will be sadly dismayed at the buying of votes.

Day By Day by Chris Muir

The “White Coat” prop used by Obama was certainly revealing. The President must use cheap symbolism to sell his government takeover of American health care.

    Will it work?

Let’s see how many “White Coats” continue to practice medicine under Obamacare? With the scheduled Medicare cutbacks and the massive tax increases there will be little incentive for physicians to work. Rationing of health care and scarcity will be the norm as the government attempts to train medical auxiliaries to replace the doctors.

I wonder how long before the SEIU unionizes the government supported phsyicans?

Day By Day February 26, 2010 – Wise Up

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Sam, some wives would be threatened when an EX military cohort of the husband was a partner in a business enterprise, namely the Florida Bar. Zed has enough of a real life bad dream happening at present.

Talking about “bad dreams” what about President Obama’s health care summit yesterday?

Via Hengler, a succinct statement of Jay Nordlinger’s point and of what I suspect will be the media consensus tomorrow. Not the only kind words he had for the GOP either:

The folks in the White House just must be kicking themselves right now. They thought that coming out of Baltimore when the President went in and was mesmerizing and commanding in front of the House Republicans that he could do that again here today. That would revive health care and would change the public opinion about their health care bill and they can go on to victory. Just the opposite has happened.

I watched the health care summit for a little whiole before I was off to the dental clinic and practiced real life health care – in the trenches, so to speak. From what I saw, Obama looked defensive, spiteful and “in your face, I am doing it my way anyway.”

If Congressional Democrat leaders were hoping that the President would mesmerize the country into providing them cover for budget reconciliation passage of Obamacare with a public option, they failed miserably.

Obamacare today appears to be just as dead as it was prior to the summit. Watch the Democrats in marginal House districts run for cover and strat repudiating Obama.

Day By Day February 25, 2010 – The Rules

The Dog and Pony show on Obamacare is about to begin this morning. The President and Congressional Democrats have wasted a year in massaging this supposed “comprehensive” health care reform bill.

But, as the media gathers and the White House prepares the show, Obama has already floated a Plan “B.”

President Barack Obama will use a bipartisan summit Thursday to push for sweeping health-care legislation, but if that fails to generate enough support the White House has prepared the outlines of a more modest plan.

His leading alternate approach would provide health insurance to perhaps 15 million Americans, about half what the comprehensive bill would cover, according to two people familiar with the planning.

It would do that by requiring insurance companies to allow people up to 26 years old to stay on their parents’ health plans, and by modestly expanding two federal-state health programs, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, one person said. The cost to the federal government would be about one-fourth the price tag for the broader effort, which the White House has said would cost about $950 billion over 10 years.

Officials cautioned that no final decisions had been made but said the smaller plan’s outlines are in place in case the larger plan fails.

One wonders why this modest proposal took over a year of political machinations to submit?

    BECAUSE OBAMACARE HAS FAILED.

President Obama should admit his Obamacare health care reform plan is NOT going to pass the Congress, is out of favor with the American public and start working with the Republicans to obtain some meaningful health care reform.

But, that would be asking alot now, wouldn’t it?

Day By Day February 24, 2010 – Fantasies

Day By Day by Chris Muir

America has definitely awoken from the fantasies of President Barack Obama. Hope and Change, my posterior. Obama has delivered on BIG GOVERNMENT and redistribution – spreading the wealth around – just like he told Joe the Plumber.

But, in the meantime, the President has begun to plot his re-election strategy while his poll numbers are in the dumpster.

President Barack Obama’s top advisers are quietly laying the groundwork for the 2012 reelection campaign, which is likely to be run out of Chicago and managed by White House deputy chief of staff Jim Messina, according to Democrats familiar with the discussions.

The planning for now consists entirely of private conversations, with Obama aides at all levels indulging occasionally in closed-door 2012 discussions while focusing ferociously on the midterm elections and health care reform, the Democratic sources said. “The gathering storm is the 2010 elections,” one top official said.

But the sources said Obama has given every sign of planning to run again, and wants the next campaign to resemble the highly successful 2008 effort.

Watch the health care summit on Thursday for the latest themes of fantasy from the Obama re-election team.

Day By Day February 23, 2010 – Bad Boy

Day By Day by Chris Muir

I don’t know about a “Bad Boy Dream.”

All I know is that President Obama and the congressional Democrats have resubmitted their “BAD BOY” called Obamacare. And, the LEFT are pushing the idea of a budget reconciliation vote in the U.S. Senate in order to pass that “bad boy.”

Now, the newly crafted bill would have to pass the House and herein lies the probelm for the Democrats. Rahm Emanuel in the 2006 election cycle crafted a plan to elect moderate Democrat Representatives in RED (Republican) leaning Congressional Districts. Do you not think these pols will not vote out of self-preservation since they are up for election in just 9 months? After all, the polls show that a majority of Americans oppose Obama’s health reform efforts to have government take over our private health care system.

Despite Zed’s brother coming upon the scene, Naomi Zed’s business partner is still checking out the pony tail for the REAL ZED.

Now, has Naomi met up with Zed’s brother previously?

Stay tuned for “As The Bar Construction Turns.”

In the meantime, the Obama Administration is posting in a few  hours a revised Obamacare proposal online, including government power to block health insurance rate increases. Will anyone be watching, listening or care?

The Obama Administration credibility on the health care reform front is de minimis.

Day By Day by Chris Muir

    No, Chris!

You want to keep President Obama talking and the State of the Union address is a perfect way to demonstrate how his Administration policies have been a disaster for America. Despite the hype and the rhetoric, Obama’s poll numbers are in a free fall downward and he is flailing about for ways to aid the American economy.

Now, after spending the federal government blind and raising taxes, Obama is talking about proposing a federal budget spending freeze. What about Obamacare?

Obamacare would be the greatest increase in entitlement spending ever and the tax increases to pay for it would be huge.

The fact is the President does NOT know what he wants except the ability to stay in office for himself and his cronies on the LEFT.

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Should the Congressional Democrats and President Obama try to ram the Senate Obamacare bill though either before Scott Brown is seated or through budget reconciliation, the repercussions for the Democrat Party would be catastrophic.

There is sufficeint negative sentiment by voters that the strategic balance in the Congress could shift in November. Then, Obamacare would either be repealed or so hindered in its implementation, that it would be effectively neutered.

Consensus is what American voters desire – not overly partisan and ideological schemes.
