Why Not Chelsea Clinton for Hillary’s Senate Seat?

Chelsea and Bill Clinton September 2008
Former US President Bill Clinton (L) and his daughter Chelsea Clinton listen to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown speaks at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) September 2008 in New York. Bill Clinton said he would back his wife Hillary if she became secretary of state but has even bigger political hopes for their daughter Chelsea, in an interview released Wednesday

Chelsea is barred by the United States Constitution since she is only 28 years old from holding her mom’s Senate seat. But, it is apparent from this story that the Clinton Cabal is NOT happy with the Kennedy Klan pushing Caroline for Hillary’s seat.

    Why?

If Hillary decided to leave as Secretary of State there would be little to no chance of her ever recapturing this Senate seat with Caroline Kennedy as the incumbent.

Looks like Barack Obama has the Clintons right where he wants them – MARGINALIZED.

Caroline Kennedy for U.S. Senate – Going For It

    Caroline Kennedy and Barack Obama

Yes, as Flap said before, Caroline Kennedy will be seeking Hillary Clinton’s soon to be vacant U.S. Senate seat from New York.

Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of an American political dynasty, has decided she will pursue the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, a person told of her decision said Monday.

The decision came after a series of deeply personal and political conversations, in which Ms. Kennedy, who friends describe as unflashy but determined, wrestled with whether to give up what has been a lifetime of avoiding the spotlight.

Ms. Kennedy will ask that Gov. David A. Paterson consider her for the appointment. The governor was traveling to Utica today could not immediately be reached for comment.

If appointed, Ms. Kennedy would fill the seat once held by her uncle, the late Robert F. Kennedy.

Ms. Kennedy has been making calls this morning to alert political figures to her interest.

The sound you now hear is the field clearing.

    Good luck Senator Caroline Kennedy.

Caroline Kennedy Continues to Be Mentioned to Replace Hillary Clinton in the U.S. Senate

    Caroline Kennedy and Eric Holder

Eric Holder walks with Caroline Kennedy on Capitol Hill in Washington. Holder is President-elect Barack Obama’s Attorney General Designee, June 25, 2008

Yes, Caroline Kennedy has been mentioned as Hillary Clinton’s replacement as a New York U.S. Senator as Hillary becomes Secretary of State. But, the story is re-emerging.

Is this a trial baloon of a David Paterson decision?

Could Caroline Kennedy, considered to be among the most private members of the Kennedy clan, be tapped to fill Hillary Clinton’s Senate seat?

Kennedy — who endorsed Barack Obama in February before the Super Tuesday round of primaries — is said to be considering the possibility, according to an ABC News report.

New York Gov. David Patterson, the man tasked with picking Hillary Clinton’s successor, is remaining mum on the process, but a spokesman for Barack Obama issued a statement in the wake of rumors the president-elect is quietly lobbying Patterson to choose Kennedy.

“President-elect Obama has a very high regard for Caroline Kennedy,” said Obama spokesman Stephanie Cutter. “But he has not spoken with Governor Paterson or Caroline Kennedy about the race, and has no involvement in this process.”

With Robert F. Kennedy,Jr. having taken himself out of the running earlier this week, it is likely that Caroline could get the nod for her uncle’s seat.

Or will Paterson appoint New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to remove him from challenging Paterson for Governor in a Democrat Primary in 2010?

Is Hillary Clinton Constitutionally Ineligible to Serve as Secretary of State?

    hillaryandobama

Answer: Yes, according to Judicial Watch:

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is constitutionally ineligible to serve as Secretary of State in the Obama administration.

According to the Ineligibility Clause of the United States Constitution, no member of Congress can be appointed to an office that has benefited from a salary increase during the time that Senator or Representative served in Congress. A January 2008 Executive Order signed by President Bush during Hillary Clinton’s current Senate term increased the salary for Secretary of State, thereby rendering Senator Clinton ineligible for the position.

Specifically, Article I, section 6 of the U.S. Constitution provides “No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been encreased during such time.” The provision is seen by most as designed by our Founding Fathers to protect against corruption.

Ok, so what legal loophole with the Democrats use?

Remember the DC Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supremes still are controlled by the RIGHT.

Who Will Replace Hillary Clinton in the United States Senate?

    Caroline Kennedy and Eric Holder

Eric Holder walks with Caroline Kennedy on Capitol Hill in Washington. Holder is President-elect Barack Obama’s Attorney General Designee, June 25, 2008.

With Hillary going to the State Department who replaces her in the Senate?

New York Gov. David Paterson will make the call — the first time a New York governor has had to make the call since Rockefeller picked Charles Goodell after Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated.

Paterson was out with a statement today (in full after the jump) after Clinton was named Secretary of State, saying, in part, that he was “proud” of Clinton and that New York was losing a “powerful voice.”

On replacing her, Paterson said he is “consulting with a wide variety of individuals from all across New York State. I expect to announce Senator Clinton’s replacement when the position becomes officially vacant.”

Several names have been floated, including state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, son of former popular Gov. Mario Cuomo, Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi, U.S. Reps. Kirsten Gillibrand, Brian Higgins, Nydia Velazquez, Jerrold Nadler, Nita Lowey (who reportedly wants to stay in the House), Steve Israel, Gregory Meeks and Louise Slaughter, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown (the city’s first black mayor) and Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrión Jr. Even NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s and Caroline Kennedy’s names have been thrown out there.

Flap says Caroline Kennedy fits the bill. Wasn’t it, after all, her Uncle’s former seat?

Hillary Clinton to Accept Secretary of State

    hilllary-to-accept-sec-of-s

Hillary Clinton will accept President Obama’s appointment as the next Secretary of State, according to the New York Times.

Hillary Rodham Clinton has decided to give up her Senate seat and accept the position of secretary of state, making her the public face around the world for the administration of the man who beat her for the Democratic presidential nomination, two confidants said Friday.

Mrs. Clinton came to her decision after additional discussion with President-elect Barack Obama about the nature of her role and his plans for foreign policy, said one of the confidants, who insisted on anonymity to discuss the situation. Mr. Obama’s office told reporters Thursday that the nomination is “on track” but Clinton associates only confirmed Friday afternoon that she has decided.

“She’s ready,” said the confidant. Mrs. Clinton was reassured after talking again with Mr. Obama because their first meeting in Chicago last week “was so general,” the confidant said. The purpose of the follow-up talk, he added, was not to extract particular concessions but “just getting comfortable” with the idea of working together.

A second Clinton associate confirmed that her camp believes they have a done deal. Senior Obama advisers said Friday morning that the offer had not been formally accepted and no announcement will be made until after Thanksgiving. But they said they were convinced that the nascent alliance was now ready to be sealed.

The Obama Adminsitration plus the Clintons. Now, the next four years will be REAL interesting.

The next Clinton scandal will be in 3…….2……..1.

Hillary’s replacement/appointee in the Senate will be either Andrew Cuomo or Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. who will have to stand in a special election in 2009. This leaves Rudy Giuliani to go one on one against David Patterson for New York Governor in 2010.

Symbolism over substance – like Obama’s meeting with John McCain yesterday. Will womanizer/adulterer John Edwards be next?

No, allowing Hillary and Bill to do the heavy lifting and become de facto Co-Presidents. Then, “The One” can shift the blame if his Democrat dominated federal government screws up.

Hillary Clinton to Become Secretary of State in Obama Administration

    Hillary-to-Accept-Secretary

According to the U.K’s Guardian newspaper it is a done deal – Hillary Clinton will become the next Secretary of State.

Hillary Clinton plans to accept the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama, who is reaching out to former rivals to build a broad coalition administration, the Guardian has learned.

Obama’s advisers have begun looking into Bill Clinton’s foundation, which distributes millions of dollars to Africa to help with development, to ensure that there is no conflict of interest. But Democrats do not believe that the vetting is likely to be a problem.

Clinton would be well placed to become the country’s dominant voice in foreign affairs, replacing Condoleezza Rice. Since being elected senator for New York, she has specialised in foreign affairs and defence. Although she supported the war in Iraq, she and Obama basically agree on a withdrawal of American troops.

Good move for Hillary or bad move?

A GAFFE for Obama? Or a headache?

Or as Dick Morris represents: “A recipe for HELPLESSNESS?”

Some, like Hitchins are not too pleased and some think like Flap this is an opening for Rudy Giuliani.

    Stay tuned…..
