Caroline Kennedy Fades In New York Senate Poll – Andrew Cuomo Now Preferred

    Caroline Kennedy August 2008
Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, seen here in August 25, 2008, addresses the Democratic National Convention. Voters in New York state are not excited by the idea of Caroline Kennedy entering the Senate, but believe she will be picked anyway, a poll released Wednesday shows

In the latest Quinnipiac Poll, Caroline Kennedy has cooled with New York State voters and now more voters prefer New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.

    The poll:

    • N.Y Attorney General Andrew Cuomo – 31%
    • Caroline Kennedy – 24%
    • U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney – 6%
    • U.S. Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand – 5%
    • U.S. Rep. Steve Israel – 2%
    • Somebody else – 18%
    • Undecided – 14%

From January 8 – 12, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,664 New York State registered voters, with a margin of error of +/- 2.4 percentage points.

However, New York voters continue to say that Governor David Patterson WILL appoint Kennedy 38-33%.

Cuomo leads Kennedy 31 – 20 percent among upstate voters and 36 – 22 percent in the suburbs, while Kennedy gets 31 percent of New York City voters to Cuomo’s 29 percent, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds. Men back Cuomo 32 – 23 percent while women back him 31 – 25 percent.

New York State voters say 48 – 37 percent that Kennedy is not qualified to be a U.S. Senator and 40 – 37 percent that she would not be a good Senator. Democrats say 47 – 35 percent that she is qualified, while Republicans say 65 – 24 percent that she is not qualified. Independent voters say 51 – 34 percent that she is not qualified.

The bloom is definitely off the Caroline Kennedy rose by her disasterous early campaigning in upsate New York. She tried to strong arm the Governor and still MAY succeed to the benefit of the New York GOP.

Want to wager that Sarah Palin hopes Kennedy is chosen?

Hillary Clinon WHORES Herself for Bill Clinton’s Donors As The U.S. Senate Sits On Its Hands

    Hillary-Clinton-and-Bill-Cl

Pay for Play Politics by Hillary? Say it ain’t so.

Hell, only about half a dozen documented cases:

Secretary of State appointee Hillary Rodham Clinton intervened at least six times in government issues directly affecting companies and others that later contributed to her husband’s foundation, an Associated Press review of her official correspondence found.

The overlap of names on former President Bill Clinton’s foundation donor list and business interests whose issues she championed raises new questions about potential ethics conflicts between her official actions and her husband’s fundraising. The AP obtained three of the senator’s government letters under the Freedom of Information Act.

Clinton was to begin her confirmation hearing Tuesday before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Under an agreement with President-elect Barack Obama, Bill Clinton recently released the names of donors to his foundation, a nonprofit that has raised at least $492 million — including millions from foreign governments — to fund his library in Little Rock, Ark., and charitable efforts worldwide on such issues as AIDS, poverty and climate change.

The letters and donations involve pharmaceutical companies and telecommunications and energy interests. An aide to the senator said she made no secret of her involvement in many of the issues. Bill Clinton’s foundation declined to say when it received the donations or precisely how much was contributed.

“Throughout her tenure, Senator Clinton has proven that she acts solely based on what she believes is best for the state and people she represents, without consideration to any other factor,” spokesman Philippe Reines said. “In these instances, she was doing what the people of New York elected her to do: Work hard on the issues of importance to them.”

Hillary Rodham Clinton and the Clinton Foundation both declined to answer questions about whether the senator attempted to step away from issues directly affecting donors to her husband’s charity, and whether the foundation tried to screen out money from those on whose issues the senator had intervened.

Then, there is this Pharma connection (Via Michelle Malkin)

Pharmaceutical company Merck & Co. is also a member of the Clinton Global Initiative, company spokeswoman Amy Rose said. Merck joined CGI in 2006, when dues were $15,000, and also was a member in 2007 and in 2008, when membership dues rose to $20,000. As part of its commitment to CGI, Merck sponsors public health initiatives around the world, Rose said. Merck joined CGI on its own initiative, she said.

Sen. Clinton wrote a November 2005 letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt urging approval of the human papillomavirus vaccine. Merck applied in December 2005 for approval of its HPV vaccine, Gardasil, and the vaccine was approved for use in females ages 9 to 26. Merck is still seeking approval for use in older women, Rose said.

Rose said Merck’s participation in the Clinton Global Initiative was unrelated to Sen. Clinton’s letter. Merck didn’t communicate with Clinton or her office about its HPV vaccine and was unaware of her letter before it was sent, Rose said.

Another letter involved an issue important to Barr Laboratories. Sens. Clinton and Patty Murray, D-Wash., wrote to Leavitt in August 2005 urging that “science, not politics” guide the agency and “that a decision be brought swiftly on Plan B’s application.” Leavitt’s office described the Clinton letter as pertaining to Barr’s application for Plan B, the emergency contraceptive also called the morning-after pill.

Barr Laboratories gave $10,001 to $25,000 to Clinton foundation, the charity’s donor list shows. Barr joined the Clinton Global Initiative in April 2007, spokeswoman Carol Cox said. Cox didn’t comment on Clinton’s letter.

The U.S. Senate WILL confirm Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State as it glosses over the former President’s help in Hillary’s career and to ingratiate their own pocket books, including Hillary’s campaign for President.

    Exit questions:

Does anyone in the media care about this blatant “PAY TO PLAY” corruption?

Or Does it ONLY apply to the RIGHT?

    Is transparency a two-way street?

New York Governor David Paterson Pulling Away From Caroline Kennedy as Hillary Clinton’s Replacement Senator?

    Daivd Paterson January 1 2009

New York Gov. David A. Paterson and First Lady Michelle Paterson toast each other prior to receiving visitors during the annual open house at the Executive Mansion in Albany, N.Y, January 1, 2009.

The language from Paterson does not heart Caroline Kennedy but a number of other candidates are receiving serious consideration.

Now that the date has been set for Hillary Clinton’s secretary of state confirmation hearing (next Tuesday), the pressure is on for Gov. David Paterson to finally make a decision on who he will tap to replace her in the US Senate.

But since he’s not even done vetting candidates yet, it’s unlikely his choice will come anytime soon.

Speaking today on WOR-AM’s “The Joan Hamburg Show,” Paterson addressed the argument being made in favor of Caroline Kennedy by people like Deputy Mayor Kevin Sheekey, who say her relationship to President-elect Obama is the ultimate trump card.

“Caroline Kennedy obviously does have a tremendous relationship with the president and that’s certainly a plus,” Paterson said. “She does not have much political, I mean legislative, experience which is a minus…She has pluses and minuses.”

Flap bets Paterson backs away from Caroline Kennedy and appoints New York Democrat Attorney General Andrew Cuomo which then clears the field for a Paterson re-election effort for Governor in 2010.

Shocker: Barack Obama Tied to Bill Richardson’s “Pay To Play” Sugar Daddy

    Obama Richardson and Hillary

Barack Obama, Bill Richardson and Hillary Clinton

What a shock! President-Elect Barack Obama’s campaign and the Democrat Party have accepted massive political contributions from a New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson “Pay to Play” Sugar Daddy.

President-elect Barack Obama took big money from a man at the center of a federal probe that has forced one of Obama’s top Cabinet picks to withdraw.

Financial records show the Obama campaign got more than $30,000 from California financier David Rubin, the target of an investigation into donations and possible “pay-to-play” deals involving New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, Obama’s pick for commerce secretary.

Richardson removed himself from consideration for the post Sunday, saying the ongoing grand jury investigation threatened to hold up his confirmation. Richardson and Rubin have both denied any wrongdoing in the matter, which involved contributions and state business in 2003 and 2004.

Caroline Kennedy Sinks in the Polls But Does it Matter?

    Caroline Kennedy and Al Sharpton

The Rev. Al Sharpton, center, stands beside Caroline Kennedy as they field questions during a news conference outside the famed soul food restaurant Sylvia’s in Harlem, New York, Thursday Dec. 18, 2008. The late President John F. Kennedy’s daughter acknowledged Wednesday that she is seeking to be appointed to the Senate seat held by Hillary Rodham Clinton, who has been nominated by President-elect Barack Obama to be secretary of state

Caroline’s popularity with New York voters has been in a nosedive in the polls but it may all be moot for a number of reasons.

Caroline Kennedy‘s popularity has suffered a “clear hit” as a result of her public campaign for Hillary Rodham Clinton‘s Senate seat, while Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s positive ratings have shot up, according to a new poll.

According to Public Policy Polling, of Raleigh, N.C., 44 percent of New York State voters now say they have a less favorable opinion of Kennedy than they did before she started vying for the position. Thirty-three percent say it’s made no difference, and 23 percent report now having a more favorable opinion of her.

Cuomo now leads Kennedy 58-27 in a survey of the preferences of state voters. Among Democrats, Cuomo is ahead of Kennedy 54-34 percent; a month ago, the survey found Kennedy ahead of Cuomo by 44-23 percent among Democrats.

    • Will Caroline Kennedy, despite her wealth for a self-funded campaign, be of sufficent stature to defeat former New York Governor George Pataki or Rudy Giuliani, both Republicans?
    • Will New York Governor David Paterson defuse a possible Democrat Primary election for himself by appointing New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to the Senate?
    • And, it ALL may be MOOT should Hillary Clinton run into confrirmation problems on the Hill.

    Stay tuned……

Democrat HACK Terry McAuliffe to Announce Run for Virginia Governor

Terry McAuliffe announces his intention to kick off his campaign for VA governor on January 7, 2009.

Damn, does 2010 look like a Republican year or what? Roland Burris, Caroline Kennedy and now Clintonista and Democrat Party HACK Terry McAuliffe on the Virginia ballot.

On November 10, 2008, McAuliffe filed to form an exploratory committee for Governor of Virginia. He told reporters that he plans to spend the next few months traveling to “every corner of Virginia” to measure interest in his possible run. McAuliffe told The Washington Post that he is “best suited to carry the Democratic banner because he will campaign as a business leader who can bring jobs to Virginia.”He also cited his ability to raise money for down-ticket Democratic candidates.

In the primary, McAuliffe is expected to face at least two well-known Democrats who have announced their candidacy. State Sen. Creigh Deeds, 2005 nominee for Attorney General, and Del. Brian Moran, the House Democratic Caucus Chairman, have already joined the race. Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell is the only person running thus far for the Republican nomination for governor.

Wonder if Obama will get on board for Terry? You know Carville and Bill and Hillary will be running the show for Terry.

A divisive Democrat Primary could help the GOP recapture this seat.

Shocker: Bill Clinton Raises $41 Million from Saudi Arabia and Other Foreign Governments

    Clinton-Foundation-Donors

No, it is NOT really a shock. We have known that Bubba has been taking the Saudi and other foreign money for years. But, now under the agreement that Hillary Clinton made with “the One” she and Bill must report the cash.

Former President Bill Clinton’s foundation has raised at least $41 million from Saudi Arabia and other foreign governments that his wife Hillary Rodham Clinton may end up negotiating with as the next secretary of state.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia gave $10 million to $25 million to the William J. Clinton Foundation, a nonprofit created by the former president to finance his library in Little Rock, Ark., and charitable efforts to reduce poverty and treat AIDS. Other foreign government givers include Norway, Kuwait, Qatar, Brunei, Oman, Italy and Jamaica.

The foundation disclosed the names of its 205,000 donors on a Web site Thursday, ending a decade of resistance to identifying the sources of its money. While the list is heavy with international business leaders and billionaires, some 12,000 donors gave $10 or less.

Clinton agreed to release the information after concerns emerged that his extensive international fundraising and business deals could conflict with America’s interests if his wife became Obama’s top diplomat. The foundation has insisted for years it is under no legal obligation to identify its contributors, contending that many expected confidentiality when they donated.

How do you spell conflict of interest for Hillary as Secretary of State? The U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee must scrutinize this disclosure and make sure that Hillary is NOT compromised in her dealings with the foreign donors – many of which have conflicts with other donors.

    Some notable donations:

    • Amar Singh, a donor in the $1 million to $5 million category, is an Indian politician who played host to Bill Clinton on a visit to India in 2005 and met Hillary Clinton in New York in September to discuss an India-U.S. civil nuclear agreement.
    • The Confederation of Indian Industry, an industrial trade association – $500,000 – $1 million
    • Dave Katragadda, an Indian capital manager with holdings in media and entertainment, technology, health care and financial services – $500,000 – $ 1 million
    • AUSAID, the Australian government’s overseas aid program, and COPRESIDA-Secretariado Tecnico, a Dominican Republic government agency formed to fight AIDS, each gave $10 million to $25 million. Norway gave $5 million to $10 million. Kuwait, Qatar, Brunei and Oman gave $1 million to $5 million each. The government of Jamaica and Italy’s Ministry for Environment and Territory gave $50,000 to $100,000 each.
    • The biggest donations — more than $25 million each — came from two donors. They are the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, a London-based philanthropic organization founded by hedge fund manager Chris Hohn and his wife Jamie Cooper-Hohn and dedicated to helping children, primarily in Africa and India; and UNITAID, an international drug purchase organization formed by Brazil, France, Chile, Norway and Britain to help provide care for HIV-AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis patients in countries with high disease rates.
    • The No. 4 person on the Forbes billionaire list, Lakshmi Mittal, the chief executive of international steel company ArcelorMittal, gave $1 million to $5 million. Mittal is a member of the Foreign Investment Council in Kazakhstan, Goldman Sachs’ board of directors and the World Economic Forum’s International Business Council, according to the biography on his corporate Web site.
    • Harold Snyder, director for Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, the largest drug company in Israel. His son, Jay T. Snyder, serves on the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy, which oversees State Department activities, and served as a senior U.S. adviser to the United Nations, where he worked on international trade and poverty – $1 million – $5 million
    • No. 97 on the Forbes billionaire list, Ethiopian-Saudi business tycoon Sheikh Mohammed H. Al-Amoudi – $1 million – $5 million
    • Lukas Lundin, chairman of oil, gas and mining businesses including Tanganyika Oil Company Ltd., an international oil and gas exploration and production company with interests in Syria, and Vostok Nafta Investment Ltd., an investment company that focuses on Russia and other former Soviet republics – $1 million – $5 million
    • Issam Fares, a former deputy prime minister of Lebanon – $1 million – $5 million

Top Israeli American Jewish donors include:

    • TV producer Haim Saban and his family foundation, who donated between $5 million and $10 million, splits his time between homes in Israel and California. “I’m a one-issue guy and my issue is Israel,” he told The New York Times in 2004.
    • Slim-Fast diet foods tycoon S. Daniel Abraham, a donor of between $1 million and $5 million, has been a board member of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which promotes Israel’s interests before the U.S. government.
    • The American Jewish Committee and the United Nations Foundation donated $100,000 to $250,000.

All of the contributor information can be found here.

Is there any wonder why Bill Clinton stonewalled the release of this list during Hillary’s run for the Presidency? Look at the conflicting/competing interests who all gave to Bubba’s library and causes.

Now, with the Obama strategy of pushing Caroline Kennedy for Hillary’s New York Senate seat and thus freezing Hillary out of a return to the Senate and this disclosure Obama now assures NO PRIMARY CHALLENGE to him in four years. And, thus, wounds Hillary’s chances to run for the Presidency in 2016.

    Pretty smart strategy, eh?

Hillary Clinton or Caroline Kennedy for President in 2016?

    Hillary Clinton and Caroline Kennedy

Hillary Clinton and Caroline Kennedy who is seeking appointment to her U.S. Senate seat

GAD, they are already speculating for the term after “The One.”

If Caroline Kennedy is appointed to the Senate and wins reelection, and Barack Obama serves two successful terms, Senator Kennedy from New York, into her second term after two high-profile campaigns, having amazed the pundits with her ability to step on and off charter jets in Rochester and be friendly to members of the City Council, will be an automatic top-tier candidate for president.

The Kennedy-Clinton primary will be a thing to watch.

And, with Sarah Palin as the likely GOP nominee, voters could have an all female finale. Allahpundit ridicules some more.

Nothing would be finer than a nepotism cage match between the Clintons and Kennedys for the nomination while Chelsea and Michelle Obama inevitably eye Senate runs of their own. Here’s the latest scoop from the trail in furtherance of that end. She’s not quite ready yet for tough questions like, um, are you qualified, but she’s getting there.

    Key Caroline Kennedy graph:

“Are you ready for this, Ms. Kennedy? You’re not going to answer questions at all?” reporters yelled.

“Where are you heading next?” a television reporter asked.

    “To the car,” Kennedy said.

Uhhhhhh, maybe New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo would be a better choice for Hillary’s Senate seat.

    You think?

Caroline Kennedy Reaches Out to Hillary Clinton Over Senate Seat

    Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Hillary Clinton and Caroline Kennedy who is seeking appointment to her U.S. Senate seat

More spin from the Kennedy Klan to the Clinton Cabal.

Caroline Kennedy has reached out to Hillary Clinton to discuss her interest in the Senate seat, according to a source familiar with the replacement process. While Clinton has not made clear who she supports to fill her seat, sources say that the three Hillary supporters who recently made anti-Caroline remarks were rebuked by Clinton confidantes immediately after they made them. A message from Clinton’s team was sent to Clinton fundraiser Robert Zimmerman, RWDSU president Stu Appelbaum, and Rep. Anthony Weiner.

After the piece on Drudge about Chelsea Clinton being interested in the seat, the Kennedys are NOT slow in striking back with their own retort.

Flap suspects that there will be more in-fighting behind the scenes for Hillary’s endorsement. One Hillary REALLY does not want to give but was outmanuvered by the Kennedys and Barack Obama.

    Update:

Even Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post is climbing on the Caroline Kennedy bandwagon.

Caroline looks like a winner every minute…..
