Obama To Appease Russia on Missle Defense Plans?

    Obama-and-Putin

    Say what?

President Obama is writing Russia to bargain away missile defense plans in Poland and the Czech Republic for what?

Talking to Ahmadinejad and the Iranian Mullahs?

Washington has told Moscow that Russian help in resolving Iran’s nuclear program would make its missile shield plans for Europe unnecessary, a Russian daily said on Monday, citing White House sources.

U.S. President Barack Obama made the proposal on Iran in a letter to his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, Kommersant said, referring to unidentified U.S. officials.

Iran’s controversial nuclear program was cited by the U.S. as one of the reasons behind its plans to deploy a missile base in Poland and radar in the Czech Republic. The missile shield has been strongly opposed by Russia, which views it as a threat to its national security. The dispute has strained relations between the former Cold War rivals, already tense over a host of other differences.

The leaders have exchanged letters and had a telephone conversation since Obama was sworn into office in January, Kommersant said. The first high-level Russia-U.S. meeting will take place later this week, when Russia Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov meets with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Geneva.

Moscow has not yet responded to the proposal by Obama, the paper said, adding that a decision was unlikely to be made during Lavrov and Clinton’s meeting.

Frak, the USA and Europe have been talking to the Iranians forever – to no result.

This is crazy nutsoid policy by the Obama administration. It drives a wedge between our NATO European allies and the Eastern Block nations of the former Soviet Union who want no part of Russia or missile threats from Iran.

Divide and conquer is the OBVIOUS Russian ploy here. No wonder Vladimir Putin is winking to Dmitry Medvedev above.

To think the Far LEFT actually thought President George W. Bush was stupid.

    If the shoe fits Obama.

Flap certainly does not feel safer tonight.

CNBC’s Larry Kudlow to Run Against Democrat Senator Chris Dodd?

CNBC Anchor Larry Kudlow gushing about his meeting with then President-elect Obama

Looks like Larry Kudlow is conisdering the race against Democrat Senator Chris Dodd.

The political blogosphere has been abuzz with rumors that CNBC anchor and syndicated columnist Larry Kudlow is considering running for the Senate against Chris Dodd (D-Conn.)

Kudlow confirmed his interest in an interview with POLITICO this afternoon and said he was talking to strategists to assess the feasibility of a statewide run. He said NRSC chairman John Cornyn met with him over dinner last week to discuss the idea, and the two have since had a follow-up phone conversation.

“He came up to me, and put it right on the table. He seems to think it would be a good race, and a national race,” Kudlow said.

Kudlow, though, said he enjoys his job as a CNBC anchor and commentator – and it would be tough to leave it for the world of politics.

“I’m thinking about it, that’s all I can say… it’s the kind of thing where I’m talking to friends, talking to strategists, talking to my wife, and praying on it,” Kudlow said. “It’s all come on very fast, and I don’t have any definite thoughts at all other than the fact that I am thinking about it.”

The long time, incumbent Dodd who is chairman of the Senate Banking Committee has ethics problems associated with favorable home mortgage rate loans (Countrywide Financial) which some consider special interest favors.

Indeed, Chris Dodd is vulnerable and Kudlow would make an erudite opponent.

    Stay tuned…..

Photo of the Day: Girly-Man Arnold Schwarzenegger Ruins State of California

    NR girlie Man
In fiscal matters Arnold Schwarzenegger has governed more like a Keynesian than a Friedmanite; in regulatory affairs, he governs more like a German socialist than an Austrianschool liberal. Today he is as much of an albatross for California Republicans as George W. Bush was on the national scene. The National Review March 9, 2009 cover

Arnold Schwarzenegger has been a DISASTER as Governor of California. And, to think his term does not expire until 2010.

What a mistake the California Republican Party made in recruiting Arnold to run in the recall election against Democrat failed Governor Gray Davis.

Pat Toomey to Challenge GOP Senator Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania Primary Race?

    pat toomey

Former GOP Congressman and Club for Growth President Pat Toomey

Looks like there may be a re-match of the race from six years ago in which Toomey lost in the Republican primary election by ONLY 1.7%.

Former Congressman Pat Toomey (R, PA-15), current Club for Growth President, just announced on Bobby Gunther Walsh’s 1-On-1 Show, WAEB, 790AM, that a Primary challenge to Senator Arlen Specter is “now back on the table.”

Mr. Toomey acknowledged that “Senator Specter cast the deciding vote on the very worrisome stimulus Bill, when he could have negotiated with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Obama for more productive tax cuts and less wasteful spending.” Pennsylvanians need to do some soul searching about who will really represent us in the Senate.

The latest poll is unfavorable for Specter winning re-election.

Poll Watch: Obama Should Delay Health Care Reform Until the Economy is Better

Obama on Single Payer Health Care, August 2008

The latest Rasmussen poll indicates American voters favor a delay of an Obama health care reform initiative.

President Obama told the nation last week that health care reform is one of the top three priorities of his administration, but 49% of U.S. voters say the president should wait until the economy improves before moving forward on the health care front.

Forty-two percent (42%) believe Obama should go ahead with health care reform now, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Ten percent (10%) are not sure what Obama should do.

Sixty-six percent (66%) of Democrats believe the president should move ahead now, but 72% of Republicans and 57% of voters not affiliated with either party say Obama should wait until the economy improves.

The simple fact is there is just not any money to pay for expanding to a universal type national health care system or such a  modified initiative. The economy is in a shambles and the Obama Administration has ALREADY facilitated massive government spending.

This won’t happen before the 2010 elections.

Mitt Romney’s Classless CPAC Remarks Aimed at Sarah Palin

Mitt Romney at 2009 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC)

At CPAC this past weekend, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney took a jaded swipe at Alaska Governor Sarah Palin who did not attend.

There are so many conservative leaders here this weekend. I was looking forward to seeing Governor Palin again. There’s a rumor that she has been offered an 11-million- dollar book contract. My publisher has been talking to me about an 11-millon-dollar deal as well. I’m just not sure I can come up with that kind of money.

Both Romney and Palin may be running for President in 2012 but this reminds voters why Romney did so poorly in 2008.

Remember the personal attacks/TV ads against Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani and John McCain in the Presidential primary elections?

Hey Mitt, lay off the CLASSLESS remarks about fellow Republicans.

With the Obama Administration re-regulating and quasi nationalizing EVERYTHING, the question of enforcement by the federal government arises.

Remember Elian Gonzales, Attorney General Janet Reno and then Assisant Attorney General Eric Holder who is now Attorney General?

    Now, that is perspective.

    • Americans identifying themselves as Democrats outnumber those who say they are Republicans by 10 percentage points, the largest gap in party identification in 24 years.

The gap has widened significantly since President George W. Bush’s re-election in 2004, when it was a mere 3 percentage points. But by the time Mr. Bush left office in January, less than a quarter of Americans approved of his performance.

These days, 38 percent of Americans say they are Democrats, 28 percent call themselves Republicans, and another 29 percent identify as independents, according to an average of national polls conducted last year by The New York Times and CBS News.

    • White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel charged Sunday that conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh is “the voice and the intellectual force and energy behind the Republican Party.”

Emanuel, speaking in deliberately soothing tones, told anchor Bob Schieffer on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that Limbaugh has been up front about “praying for failure” by President Obama.

“I think that’s the wrong philosophy for America,” Emanuel said. “What Americans want us to do, and what President Obama has been very clear about, is work together setting our goals …

“Our goal, Bob, is to continue to reach out and it’s our desire that the Republicans would work with us and try to be constructive, rather than adopt the philosophy of somebody like Rush Limbaugh.”

    • One, Proposition 1A, would create a rolling state spending limit aimed at smoothing out future revenue and spending spikes. One catch, however, is that duration of the income, sales and other new taxes in the budget package would depend on its passage.

If it wins voter approval, the taxes would remain in place for as long as four years. If it's rejected, they'd expire much earlier.

Why? It's a poison pill aimed at inducing labor unions, especially the powerful California Teachers Association, not to oppose the measure, even though they despise spending limits. At the same time, however, it creates an opening for anti-tax groups to short-circuit the new taxes by defeating Proposition 1A.

    • Billionaire Warren Buffett said the economy will be “in shambles” for the rest of this year as financial firms take losses tied to reckless loans made during the housing boom.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index will probably gain in three-quarters of the next 44 years, just as it did in the period since Buffett took over Berkshire Hathaway Inc. in 1965, he said today in his annual letter to the company’s shareholders.

While Buffett and business partner Charlie Munger can’t predict how stocks will perform in 2009, they’re certain “that the economy will be in shambles throughout 2009 — and, for that matter, probably well beyond,” he wrote.
