Michael Ramirez on the Iraq War Surge
Why the surge might not be stopped
And the Democrats may very well be losing their main wedge issue for the 2008 Presidential and Congressional elections.
Let’s hope so.

Michael Ramirez on Harry Reid and His Iraq War Folly
A stupid PR stunt by Democrat Senate Leader Harry Reid achieves nothing.
Is there any wonder 83% of voters say the Democrat controlled Congress is doing a fair or poor job — the worst mark for Congress in a Zogby poll.
And did you listen to the Senator’s speeches – ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Clintons accused of ‘hypocrisy’
President Bush commuted the jail term of Lewis “Scooter” Libby, convicted over a CIA-leak case, on Monday.
White House spokesman Tony Snow accused the Clintons of “chutzpah” – Yiddish for brashness – in criticising Mr Bush.
President Clinton issued 140 pardons on his final day in office, including one for fugitive financier Marc Rich.
Mr Bush commuted the 30-month prison sentence but left in place a $250,000 (£124,000) fine, which Libby paid on Thursday, and a two-year “supervised release”, or probation, period. He has refused to rule out a full pardon for Libby.
The White House’s accusation of hypocrisy against the former president and first lady followed a radio interview in which Mr Clinton said the Bush administration viewed the law as a “minor obstacle”.
Mr Clinton, from the state of Arkansas, also rejected comparisons with his own controversial granting of pardons, saying “the facts were different”.
Mrs Clinton, a Democratic contender for the presidential elections in 2008, in turn accused the administration of having “elevated cronyism over the rule of law”.
White House spokesman Tony Snow responded: “I don’t know what the Arkansan is for chutzpah, but this is a gigantic case of it.”
He then referred critics to Mr Clinton’s pardons on the last day of his presidency, 20 January, 2001.
Oh the Hypocrisy……………
This issue with pardons is going to bite Bill and Hillary in the ass again as the race for 2008 heats up.

Michael Ramirez on the Apple iPhone
After six months of hype, thousands of people Friday will get their hands on the iPhone, the new cell phone that Apple Inc. is banking on to become its third core business next to its moneymaking iPod players and Macintosh computers.
Customers were camped out at Apple and AT&T stores across the nation. The gadget, which combines the functions of a cell phone, iPod media player and wireless Web browser, will go on sale in the United States at 6 p.m. in each time zone.
The iphone will revolutionize the cell phone as the ipod did portable music and audio information.
Will Flap get one?
Yup…..
But, not today……

Cameron Diaz apologizes for Maoist bag
Cameron Diaz apologized Sunday for carrying a bag with a political slogan that evoked painful memories in Peru.
The voice of Princess Fiona in the animated “Shrek” films visited the Incan city of Machu Picchu in Peru’s Andes on Friday carrying an olive green bag emblazoned with a red star and the words “Serve the People” printed in Chinese, perhaps Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong’s most famous political slogan.
The bags are marketed as fashion accessories in some world capitals, but in Peru the slogan evokes memories of the Maoist Shining Path insurgency that fought the government in the 1980s and early 1990s in a bloody conflict that left nearly 70,000 people dead.
“I sincerely apologize to anyone I may have inadvertently offended. The bag was a purchase I made as a tourist in China and I did not realize the potentially hurtful nature of the slogan printed on it,” Diaz said in a statement e-mailed to The Associated Press.

U.S., Britain Drafting Stricter Iran Sanctions
The United States and Britain are preparing drafts for a punishing new U.N. resolution against Iran that could impose sweeping travel bans on the country’s top military and security officials, require inspections on its cargo flights and ships, forbid all import and export of arms shipments, and freeze the assets of major Iranian banks, according to U.S. and European officials.
The new Security Council resolution would be the third against Iran for failing to comply with a U.N. resolution demanding a freeze of Tehran‘s uranium enrichment program. That program produces peaceful nuclear energy but could also be subverted to develop the world’s deadliest weapon.
The U.S. and British drafts, which overlap in many places, are designed to greatly ratchet up the pressure on Tehran. The two previous resolutions, in December and March, imposed limited sanctions that have had marginal impact.
Of course, Russia and China might veto the stronger sanction resolutions. But, one year of stalling and ignoring previous United Nations Security Council resolutions have allowed Iran to step up its uranium enrichment and move cloaer to “BREAKOUT CAPACITY.”

Hamas accuses West of playing politics with aid
US and Israeli leaders pledged Tuesday to support the emergency Palestinian cabinet in the
West Bank, as Hamas accused the West of playing politics with aid after the Islamist group ousted its rivals from Gaza.US President George W. Bush and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert both gave strong backing to the cabinet appointed by moderate president Mahmud Abbas after Hamas’s takeover of Gaza as they held their third Washington talks in barely a year.
Bush said he hoped Abbas and his new US-educated prime minister Salam Fayyad “will be strengthened to the point where they can lead the Palestinians in a different direction.”
Olmert said: “I want to strengthen the moderates and cooperate” with Abbas, and raised the prospect of an easing of security controls in the occupied West Bank as well as the release of hundreds of millions of dollars in tax revenues owed to the Palestinian Authority.
Hamas still refuses to recognize Abbas’s dismissal of the national unity government it led until last Thursday and accused the West of trying to manipulate Palestinian public opinion.
“By announcing their political and financial support for the Palestinian Authority, the West is backing an illegitimate government,” Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri charged.
Western support for Fayyad’s government was “an attempt to manipulate the Palestinian people and distance it from Hamas,” he said, adding that the strategy would not work.
Hamas’s seizure of Gaza after vicious street battles with Fatah loyalists that left more than 110 people dead has driven a deep wedge in Palestinian society.
So, Hams complains about playing politics?
Good Grief…….
