Day By Day July 16, 2010 – No Profiling in the House

Day By Day by Chris Muir

The NAACP Vs Tea Party movement aka Saul Alinsky attack on Obama/Democrat Party protesters is spiraling out of control.

    reported on her speech:

And I thank you professor very much. I’m going to be engaging you with those very powerful numbers that you have offered on what the tea party recognizes, uh, or is recognized as. Might I add my own P.S.? All those who wore sheets a long time ago have now lifted them off and started wearing [applause], uh, clothing, uh, with a name, say, I am part of the tea party. Don’t you be fooled. [voices: “That’s right.”, applause] Those who used to wear sheets are now being able to walk down the aisle and speak as a patriot because you will not speak loudly about the lack of integrity of this movement. Don’t let anybody tell you that those who spit on us as we were walking to vote on a health care bill for all of America or those who said Congresswoman Jackson-Lee’s braids were too tight in her hair had anything to do with justice and equality and empowerment of the American people. Don’t let them fool you on that [applause]….

So, to Obama and his minions, what happened to dissent is the highest former of patriotism mantra?

I guess once you win office, you will do ANYTHING including charges of RACISM, to stay there.

Day By Day April 18, 2010 – Divorce

The Saul Alinsky organizing tactics are being used by the MSM and the LEFT to attack the Tea Party protests.

    Why?

Because President Obama, the community organizer, and the congressional Democrats are poised to lose massively at the polls in November because of their FAILED policies.

And, because they don’t have George W. Bush to kick around any more.

    The most laughable moment
is the Democrats sending out Bill Clinton to compare the Tea Party folks with domestic terrorist Timothy McVeigh and the Oklahoma City terrorist bombings.

Former President Bill Clinton warned Friday that the anger some members of the Tea Party movement express about higher taxes and the size of government could feed the same right-wing extremism that led to the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, which killed 168 people and injured hundreds more.

“Before the bombing occurred, there was a sort of fever in America,” Clinton said at a symposium commemorating the 15th anniversary of the bombing. “Meanwhile, the fabric of American life had been unraveling. More and more people who had a hard time figuring out where they fit in, it is true that we see some of that today.”

Day By Day April 13, 2010 – Bend Over

Day By Day by Chris Muir

The April 15 deadline for federal tax filing is fast approaching and the Tea Party movement is out organizing protests. I remember the one last year in Ventura and this year economic conditions are even worse.

    Remember this protest sign?

    Tea Party April 15 2009 060

Obviously, President Obama and Congressional Democrats have not received the message.

Gallup Daily tracking for the week ending April 11 puts Republicans slightly ahead of Democrats, 48% to 44%, in the congressional voting preferences of registered voters nationally. This marks the third week since the U.S. House passed healthcare reform on March 21 that the Republicans have tied or led the Democrats.

The November 2010 midterm Congressional and State of California elections cannot come soon enough for Ventura County voters. They will be marching to the ballot box and will NOT be bending over.

Millions Protest Big Government in Washington D.C. Today – 9/12; Update: How Many Protesters?

    Twitpic via Brooks Bayne

Of course, the New York Times downplays the number of protesters but the crowd is now estimated at 2 million.

The Wall Street Journal has a piece about the conservative protests.

And, the Tea Party Express Blog is here.

Live Video Coverage from Fox News is here.

    A Video summary:

    Update:

    So, how many attended?

However big it was, it was bigger than expected. From the NYT: “Many came on their own and were not part of an organization or group. But the magnitude of the rally took the authorities by surprise, with throngs of people streaming from the White House to Capitol Hill for more than three hours.”

Day By Day by Chris Muir May 7, 2009 – The Definition of Cool

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Translating conservative citizen outrage into local political activism is a worthy goal of the national tax day Tea Party movement and it is obvious that the local POLS did not wish to oblige the movement.

It was a controversial night for the Quincy City Council in its first meeting with newly elected members.

New members now split the council at seven Republicans and seven Democrats and it didn’t take long to put partisan politics in play when it came to allowing one Quincy man his turn to speak.

The council voted and refused conservative resident Steve McQueen, an organizer of Quincy’s April 4 Tea Party event, to voice his opinion about the city’s new proposed budget.

All seven Democrats in attendance voted against McQueen speaking, while all six Republicans in attendance voted in favor of him speaking. McQueen had formally filed a request to speak in front of the council.

“The vote is seven to six this evening so we will not have the speaker speak this evening,” Quincy mayor John Spring said.

Republican alderman Mike Rein was absent.  Had Rein been there and voted in favor to let McQueen speak, Spring, a Democrat, would have been forced to vote to break the tie. When asked what he would have voted, Spring simply said it was a decision he didn’t have to make.

“I don’t think they realize necessarily that the Constitution states that they govern at our consent.  Apparently they’ve forgotten that part,” McQueen said.

Voting against allowing McQueen to speak were Democrats Ben Bumbry, Virgil Goehl, Steve Duesterhaus, Dave Bauer, Raymond Vahlkamp, Jack Holtschlag and Richard Reis.

Voting to allow McQueen to speak were Republicans Kyle Moore, Paul Havermale, Michael Farha, Tony Sassen, Jennifer Lepper and Dan Brink.

McQueen said his issue with the budget invovles pay increases for department heads and non-union employees while increasing fees for residents.

“Passing a water-sewer increase that actually is a pay cut for people in Quincy in some pretty dire economic times,” McQueen said.

Farha said this was the first time in ten years he could recall something like this happening. Duesterhaus was quick to respond.

Flap is surprised, since local city councils bend over backwards to allow residents and VOTERS to speak.

Here is a response from the council members.

Steve Duesterhaus, an alderman for Ward 2, says timing is everything and that McQueen had three chances to speak prior to the council approving both the water and sewer increases and the new $31.2 million dollar budget last week.

“We had ample opportunity for people to comment on the issue Mr. McQueen wanted to discuss so not being timely I didn’t believe it was his right to have the floor,” Duesterhaus said. “That doesn’t prevent him from having his say in another forum or if he feels his information is of the utmost importance to the council he could easily put it in a letter and send it to us.”

Duesterhaus went on to say the council simply followed rules of order and did not have to allow McQueen to speak.

However. every Republican on the council voted in support of McQueen, including Jennifer Lepper.  She says every resident should have the right to address the council, regardless of the issue.

“I personally thought that he should have the ability to have the floor and tell us what’s on his mind,” Lepper said. “He is a citizen of Quincy and he does pay his taxes he should have to right to voice his opinion to us.”

Perhaps the Quincy folks should televise their meetings on the local cable television channel and keep a closer eye on what is happening in THEIR local government.

Obama Mocks National Tax Day Tea Parties

    So, says Kos.

Those of you who are watching certain news channels on which I’m not very popular, and you see folks waving tea bags around, let me just remind them that I am happy to have a serious conversation about how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term, how we’re going to stabilize Social Security — Claire and I are working dilligently to do a thorough audit of Federal spending — but let’s not play games and pretend that the reason is because of the Recovery Act.

No, the Tea Pary folks KNOW what you and the Democrat dominated Congress will do – RAISE taxes.

Ignore the protests at your own peril.

California Tea Party Political Action Committee Now Live – No on California Proposition 1A

    Ca-Tea-Party-PAC

A screen capture from the website

    From the press release:

Formed in the spirit of the Tea Party theme associated with the Tax Day Tea Party, the California Tea Party Political Action Committee seeks to aid in preventing the passage of legislation encouraging tax increases and promoting legislation that decreases taxes.

From the California Tea Party Political Action Committee Website (http://www.teapartypac.com):

“Just as the original Boston Tea Party was fueled by excess taxes imposed upon American Colonists, the 2009 Tea Party Tax Revolt is inspired by unfair taxes imposed by the United States and California Governments. American Citizens are fed up with the excessive taxation and spending proposed by the Obama Administration. Additionally, the residents of California are now subjected to the highest tax burden in the United States with the recent addition of $16 billion dollars of taxes imposed by the California Legislature and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.”

“The California Tea Party PAC is a non-partisan organization that works to channel the energy of the grassroots anti-tax political movement and apply it to current California legislation and create real change in government. Funds raised by the group are used to fight tax increases, and promote conservative, pro-growth, limited government candidates and issues in California government regardless of political affiliation.”

The California Tea Party Political Action Committee’s primary agenda is the defeat of Proposition 1A. Their goal is to raise funds through online contributions that will be used specifically to support the No on Proposition 1A Campaign.

California Residents are encouraged to make a $10, $50, $100 contribution or more at http://www.teapartypac.com/contribute to aid in the effort to defeat the $16 billion tax increase should Proposition 1A pass on the May 19, 2009 Special Election.

The California Tea Party Pac is on Twitter here and also on Facebook.

Go ahead and check it out. You will be glad you did.

Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano is an embarassment. So, if you display a Don’t Tread on Me Flag then you are a right-wing extremist who bears watching by law enforcement?

Do these folks at the April 15th National Tax Day Tea Party look like subversives or domestic terrorists?

Poll Watch: 51 Per Cent View Tea Parties Favorably – 32 Per Cent Very Favorable

    Tea Party April 15 2009 062

Ventura County, California National Tax Day Tea Party, April 15, 2009

But, the political class strongly disagrees.

Fifty-one percent (51%) of Americans have a favorable view of the “tea parties” held nationwide last week, including 32% who say their view of the events is Very favorable.

Thirty-three percent (33%) hold an unfavorable opinion of the tea parties according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Fifteen percent (15%) are not sure.

While half the nation has a favorable opinion of last Wednesday’s events, the nation’s Political Class has a much dimmer view—just 13% of the political elite offered even a somewhat favorable assessment while 81% said the opposite. Among the Political Class, not a single survey respondent said they had a Very Favorable opinion of the events while 60% shared a Very Unfavorable assessment.

One-in-four adults (25%) say they personally know someone who attended a tea party protest. That figure includes just one percent (1%) of those in the Political Class.

Is this surprising for the political elite?

But, this spells trouble for the Obama Administration and Congresional Democrats if the economy does not quickly turn around.
