    The Obama LEFT Goes Nuts Over Paul Ryan

    The long knives are out for Republican Vice Presidential nominee Paul Ryan.

    Except….most of the content in the video is untrue.

    Here is a point by point refutation.

    (1) They begin with video of CNN reporters discussing accusations of Ryan’s “lies.” This is proof that the Obama campaign sent out a lot of angry emails, and nothing else.

    (2) Medicare – Sorry, guys, but it is 100 percent true that Obamacare raided $716 Billion from Medicare to pay for itself.  It does cut benefits to current seniors.  And Paul Ryan’s plan took the president’s Medicare “savings,” and re-routed them back into Medicare to shore up the program.  Mitt Romney’s plan would undo those cuts altogether.  Obama took those cuts and used them to pay for Obamacare.  He has admitted this on camera:

    (3) The GM Plant – Part of the factory Ryan mentioned was shut down under Bush, despite the initial GM bailout (which Senator Obama supported).  The plant finally fully closed in April of 2009, during Obama’s presidency, as this report clearly states.  Obama’s problem is that he showed up and made empty promises to pander for votes.  Ryan never said Obama was personally responsible for the plant’s closure, but he accurately stated that it closed down within a year of candidate Obama’s hope-filled speech and remains closed today.  Obama goes on and on about “saving” the auto industry and his economic recovery.  That boarded-up Janesville plant tells a different story.

    The Obama Camp and the organized LEFT are trying to discredit Paul Ryan just like they did to Sarah Palin. The talking points are all over the Lefty blogs and they are flailing trying to find a MEME that sticks – again just like Palin.

    I don’t think it will work this time.

    Now, is the time for a frank discussion of the issues of the role of government and the direction of America.

    CA-26: Julia Brownley Begins Television Ads

    I noticed the ad first this morning on Chuck Todd’s political show on MSNBC. And, it has since repeated.

    The ad looks much like the generic, “get to know who I am ad”, which highlights that she is supported by public employee unions and abortion providers – pretty typical stuff for California Democrats.

    The video has not been posted up on You Tube yet, but I suppose the campaign is just behind. I will post it in an update, when it arrives.

    The ad buy was fairly modest and there were two:

    • August 29 – September 6: 229 spots for about $10K
    • September 7 – September 11: 84 spots for a little over 4K

    You can check out the ad buys for yourself, since they are public. Here is the link to Time Warner Cable which has the vast majority of the Cable TV action here in Ventura County.

    Brownley’s opponent, Republican California State Senator Tony Strickland is already up with television advertising, having beat Brownley “on air.”

    New Economic Study Says Proposition 37 Would Greatly Increase California Food Costs

    As if, the California economy needs another drag on its recovery. Here is the study (pdf file).

    The Genetically Engineered Foods Mandatory Labeling Initiative (A.G. File No. 11-0099 – hereinafter the Initiative) would have a substantial impact on California consumers.

    The Initiative would change how many of the foods they eat are produced and would make that food more expensive. At the same time, however, the Initiative would provide relatively little by way of consistent and useful information to consumers because of the loopholes and exceptions in its language and the uneven ways in which it would apply to the same food consumed in different settings.

    The key provisions of the Initiative require that foods purchased for at-home consumption must be labeled “Partially Produced with Genetic Engineering” or “May be Partially Produced with Genetic Engineering” if the food contains at least 0.5 percent (by weight) of a genetically modified ingredient. The threshold level drops to 0 percent in 2019.

    The Initiative also bars the use of the word “natural” in packaging or advertisements for virtually all foods, regardless of whether they include genetically engineered ingredients.

    The Initiative contains many exemptions, creating a patchwork of labeling requirements for foods in which some foods consumed at home might require a label, but the same food eaten in a restaurant would not. Under the Initiative, the following are exempt from labeling, regardless of whether or not they contain genetically engineered (GE) ingredients:

    • Foods certified as organic
    • Foods consisting of or derived entirely from animals, regardless of whether the animal has been fed GE feed or injected with GE drugs
    • Alcoholic beverages
    • Foods eaten away from home
    • Food made using GE processing aids or enzymes.

    The wide range of exemptions means that consumers could still purchase and consume a wide range of foods made from or containing GE ingredients, but that would not be subject to labeling under the Initiative. The potential therefore exists for bizarre inconsistencies where identical products consumed at home and in a school cafeteria would be required to have a label in the first instance, but not in the second. The way in which the Initiative is drafted opens the possibility for a wide range of absurd outcomes regarding what is and is not subject to labeling.

    It is one thing about disclosure about what is in your food, but it is another, about a poorly written initiative that has not been subjected to legislative scrutiny in the California Legislature.

    Also, what is this initiative doing besides unnecessarily driving up food costs without providing any benefit except to certain special interest “organic” farmers and trial lawyers?

    Vote No on Proposition 37.

    Nobody is admitting it, but the national Democratic Party folks at the DCCC have a reputation of doing it. Now, is Brownley’s campaign paying for the deed?

    Hard to say and it may be difficult to trace, but my best guess is that this activity would not be going on without Brownley’s direct approval.

    Nobody has come forward to identify the young woman and some Democratic activists have taken to Twitter to say that the woman in Thousand Oaks – see her photo below was merely a parent at the children’s event.

    You see the woman in the photo above and in this embedded video below was seen videotaping Senator Tony Strickland during his Ventura beach clean-up day on July 28th.

    So, obviously, this woman is either a BIG fan of Tony Strickland, a paid operative of the DCCC or the Julia Brownley campaign or somebody with whom the police maybe wish to have a chat.

    What is the FLAP here – besides the fact that an elected official is being stalked?

    Trackers or videographers are not uncommon in Congressional campaigns today. However, this was a Children’s I.D. Event.

    Yesterday was NOT a Congressional campaign event, but a public service one in conjunction with Strickland’s California State Senate office. Why would the Brownley campaign want to be associated with such an obviously ridiculous observation? And, why involve the children?

    If the Browney campaign was associated with yesterday’s stalker, they should apologize to the families of the children who were videotaped. If the DCCC was involved, then the Brownley campaign should tell them to exert some restraint.

    Julia Brownley may be an LA Woman (from Santa Monica actually), but we don’t do politics like this in Thousand Oaks – because we aren’t LA.

    Hey, California Assemblywoman Julia Brownley, is this person doing some political tracking of Senator Strickland for you? Again, anyone know this woman and for whom she is working?

    Yahoo News Fires David Chalian for Racial Anti-Romney Comment

    What a comment David Chalian made.

    Yahoo News has fired Washington bureau chief David Chalian after he was caught on a hot-mic during an online video broadcast today saying that Mitt Romney and his wife Ann had no problem with African Americans suffering as a result of Hurricane Isaac, a source familiar with the situation tells POLITICO.

    “They’re not concerned at all. They’re happy to have a party with black people drowning,” Chalian said during the ABC News/Yahoo News webcast, in reference to the fact that the GOP convention in Tampa is taking place as Hurricane Isaac makes landfall on the north Gulf coast.

    The conservative media watchdog organization NewsBusters first posted audio of Chalian’s remarks, but referred to him as an ABC News employee (and offered slightly inaccurate transcription). ABC News spokesperson Julie Townsend informed the organization that Chalian was with Yahoo.

    Good riddance to this moron.

    In year’s past, the MSM would have just covered this up, suspended the miscreant and transferred the journalist to another gig. Don’t think this will fly in the world of social media and instant communications.

    By the way, Yahoo has confirmed Chalian’s firing:

    David Chalian’s statement was inappropriate and does not represent the views of Yahoo!.  He has been terminated effective immediately. We have already reached out to the Romney campaign, and we apologize to Mitt Romney, his staff, their supporters and anyone who was offended.

    Well, who is tracking and stalking California State Senator and CA-26 Republican congressional candidate Tony Strickland?
