An interesting poll, since it is only rumored that Rudy Giuliani is looking at the 2012 Presidential race. As I have said, I have seen no “Bat Sign” from Gotham City (New York) that Giuliani is gearing up, besides Rep. Peter King statements and his speaking engagements in New Hampshire.
But, nevertheless, this will create some buzz, that Rudy may be the anti-Romney candidate to face Sarah Palin.

This is a shocking poll with regards to Rudy Giuliani but shows his strength within the GOP. This is not a good poll for Tim Pawlenty and Jon Huntsman who wish to be the anti-Romney candidate. This poll also demonstrates that while Mitt Romney may be the front runner at this time, his strength is WEAK.

I don’t think so.At a dinner with journalists on Monday night in Washington, Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., said he thought former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was leaning toward making another bid for the Republican presidential nomination.
“I get the impression that he is very close to saying he’s going to run,” said King, speaking at a dinner hosted by The American Spectator, a conservative monthly.
King, who was careful to add that he only considers himself on the “outer edge” of Giuliani’s inner circle, said the former mayor and 2008 candidate “has been talking to people on the ground in New Hampshire.” Giuliani ignored the early primary states in 2008, hoping to win the Florida primary to fuel his campaign, but by that time Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., had seized the momentum.
“If he was making his decision today, he’d run,” King said
Why do I say this?
There has been NO bat signal from Gotham to Rudy’s former 2008 Presidential staffers. Rudy has also been involving himself in private security business matters and why do that if you will have to put them on hold in the near future?
Rudy will participate in the 2012 Presidential campaign as a surrogate for the GOP and will make a great Attorney General some time in the future.

This is again a national poll and it is not certain that Sarah Palin, Mitch Daniels or Rudy Giuliani will be candidates. And, the poll was taken before Huckabee and Trump dropped out.
But, at the present time, it looks like you would have to consider Mitt Romney as the front runner.
The nationwide survey of 1,070 United States likely voters was conducted May 10-17, 2011, using live telephone interviews. The margin of error is +/- 3.0 percent at a 95 percent level of confidence.

The poll was conducted April 16 – 21 with 600 likely Republican primary voters. The margin of error is 4%.

With Mike Huckabee’s lead in Iowa, and Mitt Romney’s lead in New Hampshire, it looks like a stalemate until the Nevada caucuses, South Carolina and Florida primary elections. If no other candidates step forward soon, would the GOP consider a tag team of Romney and Huckabee?

According to the latest ARG Iowa Poll.Interesting to me is how well Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani do in relation to Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann who is a native Iowan.
But, polling in Iowa is tough because it is a caucus state and not a primary election.
Mike Huckabee won Iowa in 2008 and continues to lead the race. Will we have a repeat race between Huck and Romney or will Mitt concede Iowa and concentrate on Florida?

As ususal, no front running candidate and the declining poll numbers for all of the 2008 candidates.
But, notice Donald Trump polling better than Newt Gingrich.

According to the latest PPP Poll.

But, Romney was thought of as the front runner in Florida since he won 31% of the vote in 2008 vs. only 13% for Mike Huckabee. So, Romney has fallen and Huckabee has increased some.
The reason Romney isn’t really proving to be the favorite in Florida is a lack of support from voters describing themselves as ‘very conservative,’ who at 40% constitute the largest share of the primary electorate in the state. Romney’s favorability with them is only 59%, placing him well behind Huckabee’s 81%, Gingrich’s 73%, Palin’s 71%, and even Ron Paul’s 60%. Only 12% of those voters say he’s their choice for the nomination, putting him firmly in fourth place.
Then, there are some other scenarios, should Huckabee and/or Palin not run. And, even with Rudy Giuliani in the field.
Testing a scenario in which Huckabee chose not to run, Gingrich leads Romney 24-23 with Palin at 19%. Testing a scenario in which Palin chose not to run, Huckabee leads with 24% to 22% for both Romney and Gingrich. In a scenario where both Huckabee and Palin sat the race out, Gingrich leads with 30% to 28% for Romney, 11% for Bachmann, and 10% for Pawlenty. Throwing Rudy Giuliani in the mix as a potential candidate you get basically a four way tie at the top with Huckabee, Gingrich, and Romney at 17%, Giuliani at 16%, and Palin at 11%.
So, what does this all mean?
Florida is up for grabs – no front runner.

Rudy, we heard you before.Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani sounded more serious than ever this weekend about jumping into the 2012 presidential pool.
During a visit to the University of Arkansas, Giuliani said he’d “probably” join the growing list of contenders if no candidate emerges whom he would deem electable.
“My concern about 2012 is—because I’m a Republican—to make sure that the Republican Party fields a candidate that can win,” he said. “And if I think that I can help by being a candidate, then that would probably persuade me to do it. But if I can help by supporting another candidate, then I’d probably do that.”
Rudy, we all love you, but don’t become the boy who cried wolf and become irrelevant.
So, stop it.

Fianlly, a good poll for Mitt Romney. But, Mike Huckabee is hanging in there and may give him pause as Huck decides whether to run or not.
Another disastrous poll for Sarah Palin (60% unfavorables) as she fades from being considered a serious candidate for the Presidency in 2012.
Interesting that former Florida Governor Jeb Bush does not do any better than Mitt Romney in this poll.
The GOP NEEDS to win Florida in order to beat President Obama in the Electoral College. It appears the tried and true candidates of Huckabee and/or Romney may very well provide the opportunity.
